  1. Doubt he has the same mean streak, but still, would be nice.
  2. They used to be named after St. Patrick. But Conn Smythe realized a team so full of evil & rottenness should not be named after a Saint. 😉
  3. 😄 Actually the Chicago Blackhawks are named after Chief Blackhawk. And we can't forget the Houston Astros being named after a cartoon dog. 😉
  4. Legend has it a significant part of the reason the old AAFL Buffalo team ended up named after Buffalo Bill Cody was because William was such a common name in the WNY area. So, they had that going for the name. Always presumed Wilson went w/ naming his AFL team the Bills was in honor of that AAFL team that should've been brought into the NFL when the Niners joined.
  5. Have relatives that are Swamp Cat STHers, so am OK w/ him doing well there if he can't be here. But ftmp, really don't care how former Sabres do after they move on when they aren't playing against the Sabres. When they do well, good for them, but don't really root for them at that point usually. (There've been a couple of favorites that have moved that that didn't hold true for, and know he was a favorite of yours, so enjoy him doing well.)
  6. Thanks. Didn't know if they'd gone through the expense to identify which strain affected him so severely. Guess not.
  7. Part of 1 of the best top lines in NHL history. RIP Mr. Gilles.
  8. Yep. Huge miscalculation on his part.
  9. And if Reinhart got the LT deal off his ELC both he & Eichel would still be here IMHO. Knowing they both were locked in for 5 more years would've made it a lot harder for either to ask for a trade out of the mess that were the 1st days of the Adams administration. MHO. YMMV.
  10. Would be very interested in seeing them run w/ that but flip Cozens & Thompson and Jokiharju & Pysyk. Hopefully they really do have Mittelstadt back Tuesday.
  11. Do you know if they think he got the delta variant, the omicron variant, or some other?
  12. And was why he'd get paired w/ Dallas Smith. With Smith back there, Orr didn't need to be overly defensively responsible. He could just do his thing & the backside was covered. And why so many of us would like to see Dahlin w/ a defensively responsible partner. Let him concentrate on what he does well & w/ a solid partner, as long as he isn't Karlsson in his own end it'll work. Well, not EXACTLY the same. He was no long sad pouty face Ryan. 😉
  13. So the Sabres drafted Brent Burns? Awesome. 😉
  14. That's a Sabres injury report. 6 weeks minimum. 😉
  15. Edmonton is the poster child for why you need scouts that can look for & identify players beyond the top 10 slots of the draft and what happens when you don't have them.
  16. Prefer the Arrested Development version of it. Awwwwk-ward.
  17. AHL season ends 1 week before NHL season does. There is a very strong likelihood that the Amerks will get a 1st round bye. Pretty sure if they're needed in Ra-cha-cha that last week of the NHL (& Quinn is healthy) they'll be leading the charge across the road from the Dinosaur. Doubt they will be needed that week.
  18. Quinn - Mittelstadt - Tuch Asplund - Thompson - Olofsson Girgensons - Cozens - Okposo Skinner - Jankowski - Murray/Hinostroza (opponent dependent - do they need speed or size?) Dahlin - Pysyk Samuelsson - Jokiharju Power - Hagg/Bryson (Bryson if he can play his off wing (or Power is OK there), Hagg otherwise (on his off wing)) Anderson UPL (but if he falters at all, Tokarski takes that spot in a heartbeat) This all presumes no useful players come in via trade. Sadly, a safe assumption. Realistically, Skinner'll end up w/ Mitts, Asplund will be on the 4th line, Quinn will be on Thompson's line w/ Olofsson, & Eakin will get ice time over Jankowski. Would like to see Ruotsalainen earn a way into that lineup, too, but just not seeing it at present.
  19. Have fun PA. The thread w/ the reality of what happened that day.  2nd last post on page 6 is what you want to check out.
  20. But if it remains flatter than expected, it could affect a lot of teams' cap management strategies & there might be some good deals available for a low salary team w/ a cash flush owner to capitalize on. Kind of what Golisano & Quinn expected would be the case in the summer of '06 when they didn't give out any multi-year deals in '05. Rather than the cap increase that actually occurred. Expecting the Sabres won't capitalize, but there may actually be an opportunity for a savvy GM to do so.
  21. Huh? Reinhart got a 1 year, 2nd bridge deal before last season. His 1st bridge deal had expired and he was an RFA w/ 2 years to go to UFA status. The Hall deal absolutely might have been a factor in him getting that rather than a LT deal.
  22. Yeah. Except for the AHL Playoffs, he's seen his last of the Flower City.
  23. Pretty sure he went both ways on that (though they were satanic, no emphasis on the H like we always add making them shatanic as an ode to Miro). Pretty sure still have his original articles on that, but they're buried in a closet & a quick internet search didn't turn up either version.
  24. Not if it's "vintage." If it's brought in as vintage it can be in the original color scheme.
  25. Exactly. McCourt was supposedly the prize, but he turned out to be a total dud. Peterson (and his eventually trade away) were far more impactful. Obviously Foligno was the true prize, but he wasn't worth the cost. This trade also made the team Perreault's as the Captain & former Captain both got dealt. He was a great player; he was not a great leader.
