Expect there's more value to be had for a team like the Sabres to collect the vig from laundering other team's trades that don't quite work w/out some adjustments than from selling their own soon to be UFA's. Miller, if he's healthy, and Hinestroza are the only 2 potential good rentals. Maybe somebody will desperately want a backup faceof specialist or Caggiula, but not expecting much for either.

That's my expectation as well. But would prefer they both sign this off-season to ensure Portillo doesn't pull a Cal Peterson on them.

One more thing that may be shaping towards emulating that '05-'06 team. And, the way things shook out in '05-'06 were not necessarily what was expected back in '03.

He really has a ways to go to get to the show.

With all the great chances the Amerks had, Mersch ties it at 1 on a poor angle shot off the goalie's stick. Peterka had shot wide on a breakaway. Weisback did likewise on 4v4 & then Peterka hit a post on a 2v2 rush as the 4v4 expired all to no avail. Then Mersch throws junk to the net that strikes gold.

Doesn't seem like that's a done deal yet. Bills want him as OC too.. Wonder how much the Jints will offer him. Hopefully not enough. Really want him bumped up to OC.

The only real questions now are: 1. Will we see the Sabres take sole possession of the NHL record by ending up w/ an 8th netminder play this year? And 2. Who will #8 be? (Will they make another Subban-esque pickup? Will the other guy in Ra-cha-cha come up w/ Robson? Will Levi &/or Portillo get a game in to get them to 9 & even 10?)

Hoping the Q is who IS the starter. UPL will definitely be back. They need to have somebody better than him on paper for him to have to battle past. Because this team won't be good enough to have (at best) Marty Biron between the pipes. And if Biron is what the back up ends up, with 3 decent scoring lines, a checking line, and mid-tier D; they may have something that can & should be in the mix.

To the bolded, until we go through a trade deadline that proves the ones that turn dumb when the pressure is on are gone, won't believe it. Haven't seen a trade deadline like that yet. To your final question, pretty much figure that depends on whether the Sabres have concession rights to @LGR4GM's meltdown. If they do, any contract could pay for itself. 😉

Or, teams will have to dump a bad contract &/or get retention on the contract they're taking on along w/ whatever they're paying to get a Miller or Eakin to make the $'s work, and to get the Sabres or other seller to make the deal they now have to give up a 2nd when a 3rd would have worked w/out taking on the extra baggage.
