  1. Past hour
  2. And boy what a greasy goal it turned out to be.
  3. I gotta believe Lindy will have a feel for the guys before preseason starts. This whole "wait until" stuff has to be over now if the Sabres are going anywhere this coming season.
  4. Definition of a cold front: Over the last 3 miles of my commute, the temperature dropped from 81 to 64. It's raining pretty good but I got into the office before the downpour.
  5. Because you draw conclusions from things no one else draws. Maybe you're just more clever than the rest of us. I don't know.
  6. They aren't getting a Top prospect for 3 UFAs The max is Joki, Rosen, and a 2nd I'd drop out Tanev but they aren't getting Joki(RFA), Rosen(ELC) and a 2nd for Gourde(UFA) and Borgen(UFA) Mostly because its hard to gauge Gourde's value because you could pole Seattle fans and get everything from 1st round picks to he's a cap dump
  7. He actually outperformed my expectations but I don’t want him at $1.9M. Johnson would be a better option if they want to sign a 3C and some grit.
  8. I would love Gourde, Tanev and Borgen but I doubt Joki, Rosen and a 3rd get that done. Seattle could push for Savoie and a better pick. I just had a peek at Cap Friendly, Gourde and Tanev have NTCs.
  9. Tough call. You don’t want him turning into the D version of Brandon Hagel but you are right about his progression. His best offensive season was his pre draft year. There was also some issue that caused him to leave Kamloops, which seems like a good organization. The only way I would sign him is if he has improved defensively, because his scoring has dropped. If Johnson is on Buffalo’s top 7 then there could be a spot for him in Rochester. I would lean no from what I know now. Strbak and McCarthy are in the pipeline too.
  10. Today
  11. Hopefully they don’t name a captain yet. Let the season play out.
  12. A rather conservative approach to redoing the Bot 6 https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5166646
  13. He's 1 of 3 Sabres that have been at both of Ruff's appearances so I'd guess he'll stick around. However I would hope without question they have zero intention of paying him 1.9mil to be a solid #7. Jokiharju is more of casualty of circumstance than a bad player. He doesn't fulfill any physical role and his play with Byram was an affront to the Geneva Convention. I see him dealt to Utah for a 2nd or in some sort of exchange with Seattle potentially.
  14. Not shocking. He's been doing a good job with Coachella.
  15. That's it yes. Cozens has definitely earned a captaincy. Heck, why don't we give one to everybody participation ribbon style.
  16. I’m also curious what will happen with Jokiharju. I’m not one of those “Joki is garbage” types. He’s a legit NHL 4/5, 25, mobile and right-handed, a good value at his $2.6M qualifier. But I’m wondering if the Sabres would rather have someone cheaper and more abrasive given their other 5 under contract and there is trade value there. I could see him moved. If he’s not moved, there is probably a good chance he goes to arbitration, takes his reward and moves on at the deadline as a rental, or next summer as a UFA.
  17. Am I the only one who thinks it unlikely that Jacob Bryson receives his qualifying offer? I think he rehabilitated his game quite nicely last year and is a serviceable 7, but his QO of $1.9 is far too much for a spare defenceman, especially with what the Sabres are paying their top 5 (or 6 if Henri comes back). I think the Sabres and Bryson like each other, but I think the only way he’s back is if he agrees to a pay cut. Which he might, because no team is going to give him $1.9M.
  18. Jakob Konecny and Albert Lyckasen - Euro 7th rounders from 2020 - are 2 others whose rights are expiring. Neither has done much in Europe and Id be very surprised if either is signed.
  19. I believe the deadline is June 1 for signing or losing the rights to 2022 4th-rounder Mats Lindgren. Kid’s a great skater but doesnt have size, or create or defend that well and doesn’t seem to have progressed much from the day he was drafted. Sabres already will have Komarov, Novikov and possibly Johnson in Rochester next year. They signed all the other guys they had to (non-Euro and NCAA) months ago. They’ve hyped the kid on social media in the past, but the clock is tIcking. Im kinda thinking they may let him go back in.
  20. Lance could write for sabres.com. Another eventful offseason? Why make it about me? Do you want to comment about Lance's coverage of the team?
  21. He did good work for them at their AHL team in Palm Springs.
  22. No, not really. If you take just Collin County, the county where Plano is (which does not include Dallas) there is a population of 1.159 million. In the Buffalo Metropolitan Area, which includes Erie and Niagara Counties, the population is only 1.137 million. It's hard to understand what a population juggernaut the Dallas-Fort Worth region is. It has suburbs that are bigger than "big cities".
  23. I betcha most of them do; the Buffalo News is held together by duct tape and IOUs right now.
