  2. I voted no. I do not see Tuch and UPL here when this team goes deep.
  3. I realize I seem to be in the minority around here on this, but adding the best 3rd and 4th liners in the world won't mean ***** if Cozens, Skinner, Thompson and Tuch combine for less than 100 goals again as our core 4 forwards. The total offensive collapse of the core, not the goaltending, nor the defence, nor the contributions of Krebs, Girgensons, Okposo etc. is the biggest reason reason this team didn't make the playoffs.
  4. I wonder about this too, and yet the 83 %....
  5. There are similarities between Briere and Savoie but Savoie doesn’t play as close to the net as Briere did. Briere would get a ton of goals from being right tight to the net and flipping pucks up or banging it in. Savoie’s game isn’t the same in that regard.
  6. Interesting thought. You hear players say all of the time they would trade personal awards for a Cup. You won’t find any person who would trade McJesus for Eichel yet Jack has something Connor may never get. The Cup is worth a lot of votes as well when the time comes to determine who joins the HHOF. McDavid is still generational.
  7. Savoie has slowly become the only “untouchable” non NHL prospect this year. Kulich’s playoffs were lackluster as was Rosen. Östlund and Wahlberg are still raw. If Savoie actually wins the WHL title with his team he’d become the first Sabres prospect to actually win their youth league championship in quite some time. So effectively he isn’t available for a rental or 3rd liner
  8. This is 100% correct. Anything without the plural sounds try- hard / trendy.
  9. Gabe Kaplan, the actor and one of the creators of the show, became a professional poker player. https://www.google.com/search?q=actor+gabe+kaplan+vegas+gambler&oq=actor+gabe+kaplan+vegas+gambler&aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160l4.13426j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  10. Saw him at a Bills game last year talking with John Murphy and a couple Bills employees

  12. One thing to remember about Briere, his first good NHL season was the year he turned 24.
  13. Briere spent a lot of time driving the net and playing behind the goal line. Obviously their stature is similar but I haven’t seen enough of Savoie. The one thing that made Danny standout, however was his drive and fearlessness. That was something that endeared him to Drury. They both hated losing. It’s something you can’t coach and it’s something that we can only hope Savoie emulates.
  14. I don't believe that the supposed core players that you listed are the biggest question marks entering next season. The bigger issue is whether the GM will be able to add the right support players to a roster that already has most of the core players on the roster. Most of the listed players should have even more upside. The critical issue most analysts point to whenever the Sabres are discussed relate to the third and fourth line players that are needed to better balance out the roster, meaning players who play a tougher and grittier style of game. You bring up an intriguing issue associated with the coaching change. How much of a difference will Lindy make working with this roster compared to a Granato coached team? I think the coaching change with Lindy will show more structure and player accountability (playing time based on performance) should be more evident.
  15. Adams shouldn't even have this season, no respectable owner would have given Adams going on 5 seasons with not 1 single playoff series under his belt. This owner rewards mediocrity like no other unfortunately.
  16. We are still being sold the same “we shouldn’t mortgage our future for short term success” bullsh!t we were sold over 13 years ago. There is no future! I chose option 2 in the poll, with the caveat that the major change be one or several of the current future core (Did I really just type that,… ***** this team) significantly changes who they are as hockey player(s), because as of right now, i don’t think they have what it takes to compete deep into the playoffs, if they ever manage to even get there. And I don’t want to ever hear from a GM “once you get to the playoffs, anything can happen.” No it can’t. That’s for fans to hope, not a GM’s trategy. Good lord.
  17. He'll have that playoff shield down. We've gotta give him more time!
  18. Pysyk, Risto, Gorges, Weber, Bogo, Fedun, Borgen, Scandella, Beaulieu, Miller Probably Pysyk, maybe Scandella. The most fun part of the ERod output is that he and Sheary were traded together for Kahun. Do you want Rodrigues and Sheary together on your 3rd line? No, probably not. But losing both of them for what amounted to be nothing (6 games of Kahun) continued the ongoing cycle of poor bottom sixes. (Note: The next season, the Sabres effectively replaced Sheary with Rieder and replaced Rodrigues with Eakin...or the checked-out Staal, depending on the lineup.)
  19. We have no choice but to give him more time. When his time is up we’ll know it. Hopefully he at least gets them a spot in the playoffs. Its anyones guess how they’d do but watching the current playoffs the roster as its currently constructed wouldn’t fare to well. They are not built like the typical nhl model. Maybe KA can break the mold and have success. I have my doubts.
  20. The Utah Hypertensive Crises. Bc of all the salt. Am I right, docs?
  21. All reasonable. I definitely have a differing opinion on the bolded bit, that’s probably my biggest contention: playoff berths are things that can be shaped year over year, with a different GM and or strategy I definitely think we could have made it already, probably a couple times. The entire point of this strategy was to specifically de-prioritize the immediate for future success: build *sustainable* success. Adams said it himself. I happen to just be of the opinion it was more important to simply achieve a LEVEL of success first, and go from there. I’m glad you said we can judge Adams’ in the coming season because really by the timeline of his own plan we should have made it this season It’s me, right? It’s me
