  1. Past hour
  2. I bet the last few years of the contracts will be bargains at that point.
  3. Yeah, if there is that much difference of opinion, there is a good chance that “your guy” drops to where you didn’t expect him to. The other side of the coin is true as well. A couple of guys you thought would be there get taken early. This may be my favourite draft to watch in a while, not just from the Sabres perspective but how it all plays out in the first round.
  4. Albany averages around 4000. I'd say all of them showed up. Bandits fans were another 12-1400. Albany fans booed us down when we did Bandits cheers.
  5. Today
  6. Keith played with some edge for a smallish Dman. That would be a great ceiling for him to hit.
  7. Hardass coach will go well with gritty guys like Marner, Matthews and Nylander.
  8. There was no official attendance number announced. My estimate is 5400 based on the lower bowl holding 6000.
  9. Sounds like a great day, exercise too. I’m not much of a fisherman. Got spoiled growing up near lakes where you could only go in by snowmobile in the winter or ATV in the summer. Almost no work on the water to get a shore lunch and then fill your limit for the ride out. We had tons of fly in outfitters around to access the even better lakes. My uncle was good friends with one of them and once in a while he had to go pick up a group but no one to backfill the cabin. He would call my uncle and say if he could round up 4-5 guys we could go in for 2-3 days (next booking) and all we had to do was pay his fuel. Worked out to like $100 each for awesome fishing and being the only humans within 100 miles. Anyway, just a long winded story to say that I cannot spend more than 15 minutes fishing nowadays if there is no action. Spoiled. That and the fact that I was addicted to golf for 20 years limited the fishing.
  10. You’re not wrong, but the glass half full vs half empty perspective has been well earned by the two teams in question here.
  11. If one looks to find offense in something, one will find it. Every time.
  12. Carlin would have a field day with virtue signaling whoppers like turning “homeless” into “unhoused.” Louie CK takes a run at such things in his bit regarding the “R-word.” (And mind you, I consider that word essentially off limits — but CK makes great points in his bit about the word’s elimination from common speech.)
  13. Here’s someone who fits my “this year’s 2021 Reinhart” model. Marty Necas is a 25-year-old 5-year veteran RFA who wants more than Carolina is willing to pay him. Friedman says he’s expected to hit the market. Wants term and the Canes won’t do it. 6’2” skilled, and fast. Former 12-overall pick in 2017 who broke out with 71 points 2 years ago after 3 years of 40ish. Dropped to 53 last year. Not particularly physical or a shutdown guy, but his puck possession numbers are strong. Plays RW but is naturally a centre and reportedly wants to play centre. This is the the type of guy you could get for the Reinhart price of roughly 2 picks in the second half of the 1st, or equivalent prospects. He shouldn’t cost more than Cozens on term and you’ve got him for at least 2 years for 5 or 6 if not. He’s basically your Mitts replacement to a “T”. Which is ironic because reports say he was going to be the Sabres pick at 8 in his draft year before newcomer Botterill overruled the holdover staff and took Casey.
  14. He was just doing normal admin things when things got offensive. Also, I know you weren’t saying there was an intentional effort to mock the homeless and homelessness. I think I understand your point — this is sort of a cheap, casual cruelty. I just … it’s too much. Too sensitive. P.s. I thought I posted this hours ago. Found it sitting on this tab as a draft of sorts.
  15. First time out on the kayak for the season. Was targeting walleyes primarily, but end up with a very mixed bag. On the water at legal daylight. barey got the 2nd rod set when the first rod fired. Had regular action for about 90 minutes or so and then the bite just died. All told I took home 2 walleyes and a 10” perch, but also caught half a dozen smallmouth bass and 4 channel cats. For a short time it Seemed like everything wanted to take a swipe at the crankbaits I was towing. I think I paddled about 4 miles today. That’s plenty for my first outing of the season. I’m good and tired. And hopefully back at it again tomorrow AM.
  16. Just saw Byram ejection but honestly it looks like they both give a cup check. Bo’s a little firmer. Toss them both or neither.
  17. Anyone else think the moople laffs will quit on berube before Christmas ?
  18. Let’s hope Dylan playing well at worlds carries over to next season.
  19. Should be a good series with Rangers and Panthers. My guess is team with better special teams wins
  20. At this level, can he do it at the NHL level though?
  21. Would he have been tossed in an nhl game for this? Didn’t see the play.
  22. Bo’s got more of mean streak than this board recognizes. In a perfect world he ends up Duncan Keith. Same size, similar approach.
  23. Agreed. It also helped that the Canucks were willing to buyout the guy who didn't fit anymore (OEL). They get full credit for being smart and bold.
  24. Sure, but let’s not dismiss it as a pipe dream either. This is how good teams have stayed competitive and mediocre teams have made the jump. You’re not going to sign Lindholm and Joshua for anywhere near that money, but you can find the next Lindholm and Joshua. If you want to contend, you have to.
  25. This is a bit of a Royal Flush, isn't it? I mean, sure, we could this. We will likely try to. But most of the teams in the league will be competing to find their Lafferty, Blueger and Joshua. All 3 are free agents this off-season. If you want players like that in reality and not theoretically, it's going to cost a lot more than $3.8 million.
  26. Adams has been a compete failure at pro scouting ufas. He's been trash at filling out the roster to this point.
