We are Aldi shoppers. Where we live its the most reliable game in town. In years past we would buy the bulk of our groceries at Aldi, but we bought our meat and some fancy things from other sources. The quality of the other source we used for meat slipped a good bit so we started buying more and more meat from Aldi. We’ve had mostly pretty good experiences. Not great experiences, certainly nothing to brag about, but decent enough for weekday. The Aldi grass fed skirt steak I cooked today was probably the worst steak I have ever attempted to eat. It was rubber at medium rare. Not hard to chew. Completely incapable of being chewed. I do not believe I have ever experienced steak this tough and unchewable. I didn’t even give it to the dog. And yes, I do know to slice this cut thin across the grain. It didn’t matter. In fairness, we have bought alot of skirt steaks from Aldi. A few have been a little tougher than I want. Most have been pretty OK. OK enough that we keep going back to the well. This one, though, will definitely have me looking sideways at the skirt steaks for quite awhile. Yeah, first world problems

Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players
Brawndo replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
Rakell has better all round metrics, Rust is a defensive black hole -
Wait, is it still OK to fire assistant coaches in mid-June?
-
Seattle just fired Bob Woods-hire him as a PP Specialist for one season
-
They will never reach Adams level of incompetence, but Drury and Verbeek are not good GMs

Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players

I dont know a ton about Rust but he has 3 more years at 5.125 million, he is 33. Its hard because is his success off Crosby or is he a strong veteran presence? I do like adding a vet forward to this team although that would have to mean one of Quinn or Peterka will be moving As for Tuch, if its 8 million, sign that all day and laugh 5-6 years at 8 million is perfect Id be really interested in others thoughts on this. Here is Rusts scouting report: Is a smallish but tenacious winger who plays a sound two-way game. His speed helps make him a consistent offensive threat as well as someone who can be trusted when his team is trying to hang onto a lead. He is a tenacious forechecker who can also kill penalties. Though he will never be an elite scorer, he can put the puck in the net on a regular basis. Injuries are a factor here. Here is Rackel: Is not the scorer he was while posting back-to-back 30-goal seasons before turning 25, but he is still capable of putting the puck in the net and is a solid point producer who can play anywhere up front. He is more of a finisher than a passer and is at his best when playing with a good playmaker. A lack of optimum size continues to be a drawback; he has never been a physical player and can be pushed off the puck at times. These just feel like more undersized forwards, especially Rackel, at least Rust is a penalty killer and forechecks -
Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players

If you asked me "What is the absolute dumbest move they could possibly make" trading Helenius for either of those two would probably be my answer. -

Pittsburgh has a lot of interest in Helenius and the Sabres supposedly have an interest in Rust and Rakell. The former has no more trade protection as of July 1st and the latter has a 8 team NTC. I could see a scenario where the Sabres make the pick at 9 for a forward and if they acquire another later first this year for Byram-taking a defender with that to replace anyone moved out from Rochester. Chad DeDomincis also mentioned on His Pod that Tuch is looking at an extension of 5-6 years in the 8-9 million range. -
Ya if they want Peterka they can have him for Cuylle and Schnieder, id even add to that if they wanted

Ever since the Eichel stuff, I've found the Rangers to be annoying. I also think Drury is a gm you can outmatch.

Senator Padilla, attending a Noem pc, in his home state to boot, was forcibly removed from the room, wrestled to the ground, and handcuffed by law enforcement today. And how does house speaker Mike Johnson react? By demanding that Padilla be censured. Unphuckingbelievable. When I referred to them as “MAGA Scum” in the past, I had no idea just how much I was insulting scum.

There's just no reason to justify it. I'd rather just decide the week or even day of and say "I want to go to a game". Ok great, it'll be cheaper if you wait and if they suck again you aren't stuck going to meaningless games that you overpaid for.

Why did it hit 97 today? Tomorrow will be 73...
-
And in year 24 for Buffalo, friggin' Hudson Fasching bounced a puck in off his knee keeping the Sabres 1 point out (2 technically because of tiebreakers) of the playoffs in a year that the conference's 8th place team made it to the Finals. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
-
There is no realistic player transaction that the Sabres could make this off-season, that would have a more immediate impact than replacing Ruff with DeBoer.
-
And again, the Penn State connection raises the Bat Signal. And THIS GM seems to do what his owner wants unlike some in the past (Nylander fiasco, cough, cough, cough).

Didn't seem like tons of seats had opened up when they held their relocation event. Would say it was in the 100's of seats, not 1000's of seats. But really didn't look that closely at how much was available.
-
DeBoer has coached his teams (FLA, NJD, SJS, VEG [pre-Eichel], and DAL) to the following # of post-season games played: -, -, -, 24, -, -, -, 24, 6, 10, 20, -, 20, 19, -, 19, 19, 18 There are some playoff misses, especially early on with bad Florida. And SJS had a last-hurrah team, Vegas was very experienced rejects, and Dallas is stacked. But that's a surprising lack of first- and second-round exits. He gets good teams to the playoffs, and then he gets them to the Conference Final year-after-year-after-year. Ruff should be DeBoer's assistant coach.

Interesting! Id be interested in moving him if we got Adam Klapka and Kevin Bahl back in the trade Bahl is 24 6'6 230lbs right shot defensman who is an RFA, perfect partner for Owen Power, he was the main piece in the Jacob Markstrom deal from New Jersey so Lindy would know him Klapka is 24 6'8 235 lbs 4th line forward that hits everything that moves, he was one of Calgary's best players down the stretch, they just resigned him at 2 years 1.25 per year This is the kind of deal I would take for Peterka, it sends him out west and it solves so many holes for us. This deal would also bring back minimal cap so we could then go free agent hunting if we wanted to to get a vet to take Peterkas spot. The Byram deal would also open up cap that could be used elsewhere to add vets and salary to really help this team improve!

Unlikely. It basically gives them space to sign their two big RFAs Cuylle and Miller. Besides, the don't have their 2nd rounder next year, which they would need for a sheet between $7-11M AAV

I agree it is really slow. We just got back from Boston. Not exactly a city known for getting things done quickly..but the Seaport District...Its basically a brand new small city that has been build in the past 10-or-so years. All glass office towers, luxury apartments. Probably 15-20 (at least) 20+ floor buildings. Luxury apartments. Artwork and fountains along the street. Movie theaters, all kinds of restaurants, rooftop bars, brand new hotels, even some brand new subway stations (although its more of an underground electric bus). Yeah, I know Boston is bigger, but again, its not a city people are rushing to move to. And they took basically a bunch of abandoned warehouses and parking lots and turned it into a shiny new city about the same time, or less, than Canalside has been developed.

They'd have to pay him quite over the top

So, I haven't looked into the numbers that much, and maybe someone brought this up...but the Rangers were supposedly interested in Peterka, right? Is trading Kreider the start of moves to fee up money to put a decent sized/bigger offer sheet for Peterka?
