  1. Past hour
  2. I really think that when it comes to a potential franchise player as a 1st overall pick, the Sabres are headed towards “don’t draft me” territory. It may take a Shanahan level front office hiring to give them the sort of credibility to overcome their reputation.
  3. I’m not sure if this is a hot take or not, but here goes: flip Brind’Amour and Ruff and nothing else, and in 12 months the Sabres are the Hurricanes and the Hurricanes are the Sabres. This is more in praise of Rod than in criticism of Lindy (though Lindy is not a good NHL head coach at this stage). Finding the next Brind’Amour level coach is obviously no easy task. But wasting time on a guy from the past, is just that, wasting time.
  4. Absolutely. Get a head start. I don’t want KA doing one more thing.
  5. I watched a little more than two periods. You don’t have to have much hockey knowledge to recognize which team was out- classing the other team throughout the game, regardless what the score was. The Sabres have an unserious owner presiding over a third- rate franchise. It’s sad and maddening.
  6. You're missing the point though. We're not trading Power because he's worse than Byram, which seems to be your theory. You trade Power because he has value and can get you something good. I don't think Byram gets you as much, the time to move on from him was this summer probably.
  7. The bathroom? Some flushing needs to be going on to an expel the crap, starting with the howdy doody GM. In any business, institution or sports franchise at any level when there is systemic failure outside analysts are brought in to do a thorough review and then recommend a change of course. The problem here is that the Sabres are owned by a stubborn and obtuse owner whose strategy during his tenure is to double down on the same failed course. It’s beyond beyond being stupid!
  8. Do you think Adams should be fired? Do you think Terry is a good owner? Do you think McBeane should get to stay as long as they want without even a Super Bowl appearance?
  9. Sabres failed to get even 1 Star last two games. Just tells me our best players failed to have any impact. Dahlin is LOA. Norris is a bust. Think both Thompson and Tuch are on the brink of Sabres burnout and will want a change of scenery if we fail to make postseason play again. Front Office needs to fill out a top line as you suggest and do it soon. Otherwise a full tear down and multi year rebuild is in store, imo.
  10. I want Ruff gone, Kevyn gone and for the last few years i’ve wished Terry would sell the team. For whatever reason he’s not the man for hockey. Some new owner would luckbox his way into more success than Terry has.
  11. Today
  12. Here comes our annual 12 game losing streak
  13. Not dumping on Lyon because of this game specifically. But Lyon is not the answer. He's better than what we've had, if he can maintain this level. We've been so used to sorry goaltending that he looks good. He's just another filler. I understand putting Tuch and Thompson on different lines but they play much better together than apart. We want them to produce more. Keeping them together gets you that.
  14. This is just plain irresponsible and terrible. All due respect. You're severely underrating Power by trading him for a terrible contract. As I stated in the GameDay thread, just look at Byram's analytics and the eye test alone to see who should be moved. The dude can't perform without being attached to Dahlin. All of the proof is in the pudding and they need to act quickly before teams catch on. I could see him being a good fit for a rebuilding Calgary team as their offensive d-man.
  15. Get rid of them both, they both suck. It’s not like Adams is going to get anything worth a damn for either.
  16. Anyone that wants to move Power before Byram should look at last night's analytics. Also, check out when Dahlin was out last year and how this guy performed. He's terrible without him while Power is above water. These two players are not in the same tier so maybe look there first.
  17. There is no hope at this point. Pegula hasn’t tried to make the Sabres good since before the Bills got good. Matter of fact he did everything humanly possible to make them worse by cutting cost down to bare bones. When the owner shows he gives a *****, then I’ll have hope. The Sabres were a means to an end and the Bills were the end. There is no savior like Josh Allen coming to the Sabres. They actually had their Josh Allen with Eichel/Reinhart and they pissed them away because the Bills were more important. The Sabres are what they are and nothing is going to change that, at least in my lifetime.
  18. Whether it's the GM or the coaches or the players, here we go again, with the annual swoon in November and December, digging a hole they'll never dig themselves out of. There was a glimmer of hope when they actually got above .500 but that's gone now. And so probably is Tuch and anyone else who can find equivalent pay with a professional franchise.
  19. Upgrades needed: Quinn, Greenway, Power, UPL Replaced by similar player(s): Kulich, Levi Keep but accept: Norris has an unreliable presence, Benson isn’t a first liner on many teams, McLeod is a 3C on most teams, Krebs is a 4C on every team nothing more. Accepting this is important to fixing because you can’t target what you need if you don’t know what you actually need. TBD - TBD - Thompson Benson - Norris - Tuch Zucker - McLeod - Rosen Dunne - Krebs/Kozak - Malenstyn Dahlin Muel Kesselring Byram Timmins TBD Lyon TBD All TBDs need to be veteran, established players. Maybe Johnson with Timmins. I have a hard time believing Power + Kulich can’t land a legit 1LW or add a draft pick to it for a 1C. Quinn + Greenway has to get you a power forward that doesn’t have stone hands and an injury liability. UPL one for one on a backup possibility. As far as prospects go, what use is learning to win in the AHL if they’re going to learn to lose in the NHL. Not everyone is a future Sabre. Some are just currency so spend it.
  20. You sure it wasn’t the deaf, dumb and blind kid that plays a mean pinball?
  21. Haven’t won in regulation since Greenway got back - but hey he was fairly physical in that one game. No coincidence at all. I’m so sick of seeing this guy play hockey. 15 plus minutes of ice time a game. Zero offense. Inconsistent physicality which he clearly does not enjoy. 1 point in 4 games. 1-3 with him the win being the SO against Washington.
  22. If you're going to think this way they need to do what the Bruins did last year and mid season deconstruct. Then drop like a stone as low as they can go. You trade those vets for almost ready prospects like Bruins did for Minten (who is really good - hate the Leafs, but they drafted well). To do that, as I said in the game thread, now is the time to fire Adams. Let the new guy get on with it this year so as not to waste next year.
  23. Well you have to like the comeback attempt but you can see at the end they look dead inside again. They know it and we know it, you aren't going anywhere losing all these games, even if they are close. I'd really really really like to see Adams fired now. Make Jarmo GM if that's the plan but do it now. Let the new guy start planning for the deadline, potential tear downs and future draft. If they do the usual and hire in the off season they'll lose more years in the adjustment period. Come on Terry. You can shake up whole neighborhoods with that frakking. Shake up this hockey team. It depends. You have to time it out with the face off and which top guys are rested and ready to go. The thinking isn't we will be attacking for 3 minutes. It's just now's a good time for the line match ups we want. or at least it should be.
  24. Looks like we are a bottom 5 team again so yeah.
  25. From the players to the coaching to the GM to the dim owner, count on lack of rational response to any concrete situation. Prudence is a virtue that has learned wisdom to the point that there is a natural "feel" for the proper response to the particulars of a situation. You'd think there'd be some of that with Ruff, but the pervasive fog of imbecility seems nearly invincible.
