It's those (multiple) extended losing streaks that crush them. If they could replace those extended losing streaks with just below average play, then they would at least be in the playoff mix to the end of the season. The Sabres are a team that doesn't have much margin for error. Those negative streaks overwhelm the margin it has to work with.

lol - i very deliberately tried to sound cheerful and familiar to him (😊"hey, jerry!"😊) his head whipped around, for sure. but i was standing in a group of ~15 people, looking off in a different direction. i don't think he knew who called out to him.

In early pandemic days, I found myself on an outdoor group tour / performance that was being presented by a local performing arts organization. It was the sort of thing that social distancing created. It was nice. Pleasant. Everyone in the group seemed so grateful to be doing something that felt sort of normal. Everyone except this one dude who was slightly hunched over - hands in his pockets - looking withdrawn and vaguely angry - his mouth screwed up like he was being forced to suck on a lemon. That dude? Jerry Sullivan. (It took me a while, but I finally placed him. I confirmed my suspicion by calling out his name from a distance -- at the end of the event as he was walking away. He turned and looked towards me at the sound of it.)

I have the opposite take. Any player who blames the GM when their own play leads to losses, is just shifting blame.

Too many cooks? Some media pointed out last year, after the palm trees and taxes fiasco, that Adams had no help and was the only GM in the league without a POHO or Sr Advisor. That does not sound like too many cooks.

Can you be a reflection on something you predated by years? The mustachioed one was convinced the '90 team would stink because they were still the "Bickering Bills." And he worked for Felser; had he not been such a jerk, he probably could've sat at the bar with Larry and the crew they covered. The guy has been a jerk for close to 40 years now. Odds are, he was one before he got a by-line too.

I'd guess Pete Guelli would be the principal or even only speaker. You'd think Terry would be there, though.

holy crap, that's a great find. it's great to see Marv in peak form. i don't remember him that way. you can readily see how he led teams to all those super bowls.

Any player that has a real problem with a GM who hasn't sniffed success in 6 years on the job probably shouldn't be here.

3 games, 3 games, 5 games, and 3 games. Now, in that 2nd stretch they did pick up 3 points and in the 3rd they picked up 1. But to have had 14 losses in only 32 games come in 4 bunches indicates that they are suffering frequent losing streaks. And they've only had 1 winning streak longer than 2 games and that's the one they're currently on. Though that 3 game streak where they consistenly lost in OT WAS part of a 7 game point streak. The margin for error for them is just so darn slim. If Adams really is on his way out, that's why. He never put together a team that didn't need a whole lot of things to go better than should likely be expected to happen. They aren't out. And hopefully Adams getting ousted isn't the only thing that happens near term.

Maybe. I’ve never been able to do that, personally. Not even on overseas flights.
