I agree with you and want Adams fired into the sun but I think I like it better that his ideas are coming from others in the organization then him doing his own thinking in this stuff.
-
Probably the best they can do at this point. Arbitration makes it much more likely that he'll remain on the team for at least the coming season, even if they have to overpay. They just can't afford to let yet another good player entering his prime walk away right now. But it's sad, because this is something good teams don't have to resort to.

Curious question for the forum? Does anyone actually click on these videos? I can't find value in them being posted without any information to accompany them. They feel like the equivalent of a tabloid publication. I don't know how people feel about these things... the use of these by people, in my mind, is a clear indication to NOT pay attention to anything they have to say. That's me of course. So I am curious, does anyone just click on this video to see what is presented?

He has, just not professionally. The Sabres went from basically never draft goaltenders (2020 and 2021) to taking 5 goalies in the next 4 drafts including using a 2nd round pick on one. Of course... that won't matter for another 3-5 years so your point stands. I just wanted to mention all the goalies we drafted.
-
Jake Allen isn’t doing it for ya? 😀
-
The one thing Adams never addresses. I can't understand it.
-
Eh it all depends on goaltending. If they get some quality play, they will get a sniff of the playoffs.

What do we think of the Sabres defence corps?

I have to see Timmins play before I decide. I can't say I've really paid attention to him in the NHL. The D is big enough, not sure it's strong enough or tough enough. Much of it still depends on Power getting better and Samuelsson not sucking entirely. - Today

Gilbert.. Gretzky call him the best ever
PerreaultForever replied to Standing Room Smoking Cigs's topic in The Aud Club
I didn't put Crosby in cause he's still playing but he's about even with Lemieux. I think Lemieux had more talent but Crosby works harder. McJesus will probably bump up the list in time but again, it's always hard to compare eras. Perreault had to fight his way past Bobby Clarke and all kinds of other slash/hack/hold thugs and it's hard to say how today's players would handle that. They are faster now but also a little more fragile. -
^ That one has plenty of time to change his mind. An NCAA commitment announcement two years ahead is about as reliable as a broken compass.

Sabres have elected arbitration with Byram
PerreaultForever replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Not a chance. -
The Sabres just built incredible facilities within the past decade. No team can re-make its facilities every year.
-
Not to mention he’s a local kid. Not that I need a team of Buffalo born and raised but it’s a nice complement making inroads into the community. Adams is operating at a level only he and Pegula understand.

It would have been such a small thing to just not sign Bryson and use that money to sign Gilbert or a reasonable facsimile.
-
I get it... I read it that way... but intent is hard to gauge in text... decorated FO... I would say that you are correct here neither Polian or Marv or McD or Beane were decorated... you dont need to be... but you have alot less to prove early on if you already have the accolades... if you dont probably gonna take longer... so I will agree with you there... either way... its cool we dont agree... time will tell and I believe strongly we both hope for the same thing...

I kinda look at the revised depth chart as this: Dahlin -> Dahlin Byram -> Byram Power -> Power Samuelsson -> Kesselring Jokiharju/Docker -> Samuelsson Clifton -> Timmins Bryson -> Bryson Clague -> Jones Johnson -> Johnson Novikov -> Novikov Hopefully the prospects at the bottom can push their way up into the call-up mix, but they won’t start there. Kesselring makes them better, but “good” still rests a lot on what version they get of Power and Mule.

Right. Neither of the guys manning the 7/8 s are that good either. Pretty typical bottom of the roster D. So why not employ someone that brings other things to the table, i.e. toughness and size. Adams might not just be bad at his job but he might also be dense as ***** lead. I don’t criticize him as much as most do in this forum but it’s not for a lack a disdain, I’m just exhausted on the topic. This dude might be painfully stupid. It would be so easy to assemble a team this city would adore. Cater to their foundation. Get hard working, tough players. Of course you need talent. We already have Dahlin, Tage, Tuch, so fill out the roster with toughness. Stop jettisoning players like Will Borgen and Brendon Hagel. Value players with those skills. This isn’t rocket science. Build a team the community can get behind. The garbage that has patrolled the ice the last decade and a half is pathetic. You got your top of the roster players, stop employing Samuelsson and Quinn. Put actual men in those roles. My lord it isn’t that hard.

7-foot tall and 250 pounds defenseman has committed to play at Penn State. -

I still think he is ultimately a Karmanos claim to provide Clague (and Prow/Brannstrom) replacement. The contract was simply to avoid claiming off waivers. That said, he's an RFA in 2026... which reeks of Adams and the need for team control. At least he didn't trade a 2nd for Jones' rights. -

Gilbert was not good at playing defense though -
Penn State funds would be a donation that would be a tax deduction. Some Sabres business expenses could be shuffled around and could angle for public funds for building construction and such, but the player salaries are just a cost. Unrelated note: Finished the latest Baker Fairburn Hockey Show podcast... Fairburn's never seen Star Wars. When he finally watches Revenge of the Sith and realizes that Adams has been Palpatine all along it's going to blow his mind.
