  1. Past hour
  2. Woo, a 30 year old player that has 0 NHL points. Thanks for literal nothing Adams.
  3. I don't think that Byram wants to sign a long term deal with the Sabres because A. It's the Sabres (he's played in the Finals and probably wants to get back there) and B. He sees himself as a 1D and doesn't want to spend his career losing power play minutes to Dahlin and Power. The best thing for Byram's career is to be traded to a (good) team that sees him as a 1D. Adams is having a difficult time doing that. (Not a huge slam on Adams for that; there are legit reasons that is not happening). The second best thing for Byram is to get to UFA as soon as possible, which rules out a longer deal with the Sabres.
  4. The sabres set their standard 5 years ago when Adams took over. No need for me to Cherry pick I screamed it from the rooftops 5 years ago, sorry if it bugs anyone, sorry for spoiling it for you in advance way back when: ”this season was never about winning anyway” That’s their standard. That’s the environment you are trying to nurture Dogs in - - - that’s the most piercing irony of this all: Adams took over on a “culture mandate”, but he was the Trojan horse for a Crest bloodletting
  5. I’ll go so far as to call it incompetence if they don’t make a reasonable effort at using Dahlin and Byram together in the 1st unit. Our strength right now is in elite skill on defense. Feature it. That doesn’t mean we have to have both up top. One can certainly be stationed on the wall, and they both have the skillsets to make it work. And that would mean one more decent forward for the #2 unit as well. It would also mean Byram gets what he wants, and if the points come his value outside of the organization grows as well.
  6. True. True again. hmmm, yes but really depressing. I want you all to be wrong.
  7. Tkachuk could have not played and the panthers would have probably won. That’s two fold based on depth and also the fact the way he plays has already metastasized to their Crest Tkachuk is a symptom as much as cause. Those teammates don’t need to be dragged anymore They established the standard - they know what the panthers are fighting for: players are aware of this *when they are acquired*, long before any team Dog gets their grip in. What do new sabres acquisitions think the Crest stands for? Eichel knew what they SHOULD be fighting for, he left when he knew he couldn’t captain the ship in that way: not with the on-high mandate to save money above all else. How do you captain that? - - -
  8. Personally, believe it is clear that the Sabres are not offering him a LT deal a the value he wants. Don't believe it is clear that Byram WON'T sign a LT deal with Buffalo, but merely, as stated he won't at what the Sabres currently are willing to spend/offer. And, yes, if he is Dahlin's partner the next 2 seasons, in 2 years he'll get at least that $9MM he's reportedly looking for at present if not even more as the cap will be significanlty higher by then.
  9. Sorry, I stopped at “excellent post”.
  10. Sorry for underestimating your age Promo should set the range
  11. I think it's clear that Byram will not sign a long term deal with the Sabres. He'll happily play out his RFA years, but at this time, he will not give any UFA years to the Sabres. And since Adams stated that he will match any offer sheet, it's doubtful that Byram would have signed one, because it could commit him to the Sabres for five more years. So instead of offering Byram $8M for the next two seasons, Adams is going to try to argue down the cost in arbitration. He has nothing to lose, beside p#ssing off Byram, who appears to be just fine driving up his UFA value playing with Dahlin the next couple of seasons. And if you're fed up with the Byram trade talk, you get a break from it until the trading deadline.
  12. Oh I'm way old enough to know Gilbert Perrault. But we called him "Gil Perrault."
  13. And not to take for Bossy, great player and if I recall, better person, but boy the Sabres whiffed on the Seiling pick when the cat that was Bossy was there. Seiling was ok. He married a local girl on the Island, yet as his brother Rod they cared more about the trotters.
  14. I would have told Kulich to work on his playmaking skills this off season. He can shoot very well but his passing is what could help him take the next step on the PP. These skills would also help him crack the top 6. If PP1 stutters, I would try Byram with Dahlin on D because they could do different things like either of them moving towards the net or half wall and there would be a Dman still back on the line.
  15. And if Martin hadn't hurt his knee and the repairs available today which weren't back then he'd a Hall of Famer, not first ballot but he'd be in. Andreychuk had Espo goals, Martin was Bossy before Bossy
  16. Mildly improved GT because Lyons can play more than Reimer did. Also, I would hope that Ruff learned not to give UPL 400000 starts because he can't handle it.
  17. Today
  18. This is an excellent post, but I’m not with you on the bold. This is the year the Florida Panthers won their 2nd consecutive Stanley Cup. Guys like Matthew Tkachuk set a tone and drag their teammates into the fight.
  19. Ah thank you that what is needed, especially Martin to Robert to a sneaky back pass to Gilbert, Pegs bought the team remembering those highlights, hopefully he remember that, and at the same time it nice to remember gifts that players gave to the fans in the Aud
  20. Listing the players out like this really highlights the issue. Power and Samuelsson. You can’t have two 6’5”+ defenseman that don’t touch anyone, especially in Mattias case where he brings no offense or puck moving ability. What is he good at? ***** if I know. The offseason should have been about finding an Elite more established, physical player to swap for Power, instead we are looking to move Byram, a player who does occasionally hit people.
  21. So by default would the timid ones be: Muel, Power, McLeod, Quinn, Kulich?, Bryson Uncertain to me (timid or pack runner): Byram, Timmins Hopefully the new names added to the pack guys will make a difference….as that group outnumbers the “timid” guys that I think are there.
  22. Better defense Worse offense Same Goaltending Same coaching staff Zero chance this team cracks the top 8 unless a major trade is made.
  23. Jesus I hope they don’t give Muel an “A” again next season. I would like to think in a Florida locker room, he would have been pitchforked for not responding to the aid of a teammate. By contrast in Buffalo, he get’s to keep a letter he never deserved in the first place (just like his contract).
  24. And with zero changes in the coaching staff, I have no faith the PP strategy will change. No new proven PP asst. coach on staff to change the strategy. Yet another failure by management to address a glaring need.
  25. There probably is something to this. It’s the same as any workplace I suppose. If management isn’t fully committed, why the hell should the employees (players) express that level of commitment. This is depressing…
  26. I see that point of view too. Additionally, I see that adding a player like Kadri, puts a positive note to the boys in the room. That they're looking to push this year. As it follows up on the "changing the culture", moves of Peterka for Doan and Kesserling. The additions of Danforth, Timmins. It just doubles down on that. I would only see this if they are getting Kadri ++ for Byram.
