Sabres turned down Rossi for Peterka swap
PerreaultForever replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
I really don't know why people think Kesselring is all that special. He has some potential but he really isn't proven top 4. I have no problem adding him, but Peterka is at a higher value level. I suspect Adams was truly worried about an offer sheet and they didn't want to pay him at a higher level after Cozens and Samuelsson. Peterka isn't Reinhart, but there are similarities here in terms of how the organization disfunctions. -
I caveat this all with that I believe they're moving Byram between now and the end of the draft -- maybe for EEE/internal cap purposes, maybe because his agent has said he doesn't want to be here and sees the franchise as a flailing mess (which isn't wrong). However, at this very moment, I think this is the best and most balanced -- with upside remaining -- D-corps that Adams has been able to assemble. That's a low bar -- but he's always had Dahlin & Power, and sometimes Montour. He's had guys to build around. Specifically, per the thread, will focus on Power's partner. Opening Night Lineups a.k.a. How Your GM Sheevyn Designed Your Team (Barring Offseason Injuries) 2022-23 Samuelsson - Dahlin Power - Jokiharju Bryson - Lyubushkin (Fitzgerald) Bryson is in the top 6. Joker (age 23) is the veteran for Power. 2023-24 Samuelsson - Dahlin Power - Jokiharju Clifton - E.Johnson (Bryson) Clifton is your prime UFA with term, and yet he's the guy on his off-hand because Dahlin is good on the right side. Just doesn't make sense. At least Bryson isn't in the opening day lineup. 2024-25 Dahlin - Jokiharju Byram - Power Samuelsson - Clifton (Gilbert, Bryson, Clague) Extra scratches because of games in Prague. Of course, shortly after, Joker was going to be healthy-scratched for not being physical enough (35 hits in 42 Sabres GP last year... playing fewer games than Power [26] and Bryson [15]). Today Byram - Dahlin Power - Kesselring Samuelsson - Bernard-Docker (Bryson - Clifton) -- with the easy adjustment that you waive Bryson and start the season with Ryan Johnson as the 7. This d-corps finally makes sense. It is fleeting.

Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Not true at all. Go back several years and when you were all raving about Quinn I said I thought Peterka was the guy to watch and I thought he'd be better than Quinn. That got laughed at by the usual people. So whatever. I'm listening to these Seravelli potential deals they possibly turned down and I'm just shaking my head. Adams really is a clown and there really is an internal cap. -

I liked JJP for awhile. While hate seeing him go I also mentioned this off-season Kesselring as a target to add. So have mixed feelings but there's still lots of off-season to go to see how much more we add or lose. -

Is that the trainer speaking ? Don't know if there is any market for All-Whirlpool. Plays little, flashes, then vanishes. -

Tough kid, bigger... tougher and maybe not quite the skater as Joker but better passer imo. -
I think we tend to overvalue our players more than other teams do. Some teams may have been hesitant to give a young guy such a big contract. I think Utah’s owner is trying to copy Vegas and throw money at players to speed up their success, which may or may not work. I look at the trade like we needed a right steering wheel snowplow, which are hard to get, so they cost more. We got a big fast one with low mileage, and they threw in a rugged snowblower, but we had to give up one of our sports cars to get it. We still have some sports cars, and some still on the production line, but we filled a need. Now we need to see if we can use other assets to get one or two dependable performance cars that have some mileage on them.
