  1. Past hour
  2. I used to think this but the last interview with Marek says otherwise. He is speaking out on some uncomfortable subjects. Most of what he said in the interview are things we have been saying here.
  3. Nope Im implying that there are a ton of unemployed GMs out there who meet the requirement of ‘sat in the chair’ who wont be as picky as Lou. And probably won’t be the guy to get us out of this mess either.
  4. Today
  5. It was certainly a pipe dream. The team needs a heart transplant. Tage and Rasmus just don’t have it. Not saying they aren’t great players or could be a part of a contending team. The Sabres need an infusion of intensity. One that isn’t in the org.
  6. Sure. Maybe, there are lots of possibilities. Are you implying that Terry is going to conduct a thorough job search for the next GM/POHO? One with clearly stated job requirements and with solid rationale for making a selection? All he has to do is really commit to winning and find that ONE guy and let him bring in the others.
  7. I'm good with most of those...maybe not on the Quinn and Byram numbers though.
  8. I don't think Rosen is the same value as the 9th pick. I just named him as one of the assets I think should be used to upgrade the team before we use our top pick. I don't dislike Rosen, I just can't see him get a roster spot in Buffalo, even If he is a top player in AHL. That puts him on top of my list of players to trade. If a trade can't be done without our 9th. Then trade the pick, I'm not against improving the team, just want whoever completes next trade to try other options first.
  9. You gave a well thought out response. I prefer keeping Samuelsson over Byram for contract and style of play reasons. I also believe that we could get a good return, especially if packaged, for Byram. Our defense and roster need to be better shaped. Getting the right return for Byram will help on that issue. It should be noted thatI do like Byram and believe that he has more upside.
  10. They're not "fake". They are a highly structured defense first hockey team. They don't always score so they can lose but they are very hard to score against. They grind you down. These are good teams and it likely goes 7 games.
  11. Rosen doesn't have the same value. You can't just trade the guys you don't think are any good for gold. Other GMs are not usually stupid. The pick would be viewed as having a much higher ceiling than Rosen who doesn't look like he can even make the NHL on a regular basis. We already have cheap incoming ELCs.
  12. This makes that Netflix show Zero Day even better.
  13. Lysowski with Jeff Marek last month was worth a watch. Starts around the 17-minute mark.
  14. No apology necessary. If this ever actually happens, it will be the most underwhelming nothing hire in league history.
  15. We were always supposed to be winning when Tuch was on a bargain deal, we had ELCs, etc. the long form rebuild plan they sold was exactly what we said it was: economic job security
  16. And the new Senior Advisor to Kevyn Adams is........ Terry Pegula (Sorry about that!)
  17. I don't know if I would rather keep Samuelsson but but an argument for him is that he has only played 212 NHL games and should be coming into the best part of his development curve. The injuries have set him back and his start to this year was truly awful. He seemed to improve in fits and starts as the season went on. We were thinking he was guy to be supporting Power when in fact he has played less NHL games than Power. Not a good formula there. There is a decent chance that Sammy rounds into a much better player. I think he was one of the guys they were sending a message to about reporting to camp in shape. Playing his off wing did not help things. He would not be the first large defense man to overcome early injury trouble if it happens. Then again he may just be what he is now. Both Byram 246 NHL games and Power 242 NHL games are right in the sweet spot of the development curve. You have to be a bit careful about letting guys go at this juncture but reality probably dictates one of them is going if not two. Another thing to think about, did any one in this group ever write we need to find a right handed D man to play with Byram?
  18. Using the sabres as merely a stepping stone for bills. Terry couldn’t help see himself in the lad Precisely and extremely well said. - - -
  19. I think the short story long of the entire blue line is that you only get 2 $8M+ defensemen. I can be convinced on either Power or Byram in that role. Then we need waaaay more defensive production out of a $5M player that we are getting out of Mule. It's so body quoted me earlier, and they're right. The blue line in particular is hurting this team do to compounding cap/production issues.
  20. Not the INTERNAL one though.....
  21. Lindstrom returned to the ice for Medicine Hat in the WHL final. Assist on his first shift. Looks like McQueen is back on the menu, boys!
  22. That has to be spitballing. Can you imagine Burke in the Sabres front office. He’s way too big a personality to be nice with Adams and not offend Pegula at some point.
  23. 14 years, the entire tenure of ownership, record breaking ineptitude, none of that is made up. Other hockey organizations do not consistently hire individuals with little or no experience to run them. There's never been a rational course correction, and now there is stubborn insistence on keeping a fella who is manifestly in over his head. Yet when folks are angry about it, you act baffled. A lot of conjecture occurs because there is a lack of transparency, lack of any kind of reasonable response to failure, so folks are left to try and discern a semblance of plan in the tiny moves and increasingly meaningless rhetoric that is slow-walked out to the dwindling number of fans who can only speculate whether there is anything coherent beyond manifest contempt for those who remain to care about the team -- mostly an older crowd that remember when the crest was an honorable reflection of the city.
  24. Yes, all is well in SabreLand. Quiet, you rabble rousers. Lance is pro Sabres to the point of being on the payroll. Ending up covering the Bills was probably his aim. Well done.
  25. This is just a bad place to come anymore. Posters making stuff up with insinuations and no proof. Start filling in blanks with conjecture. Then other posters commenting on these made up things, as if they're true statements. Anyway. Just wanted to throw my thoughts in the ring. In the event it resonates with others that don't interrupt the tirades either .
