  1. Past hour
  2. I still think he is ultimately a Karmanos claim to provide Clague (and Prow/Brannstrom) replacement. The contract was simply to avoid claiming off waivers. That said, he's an RFA in 2026... which reeks of Adams and the need for team control. At least he didn't trade a 2nd for Jones' rights.
  3. Gilbert was not good at playing defense though
  4. I think the "KA" really needs to be in the phrase. So as to best play up his powerless martyrdom in the operation.
  5. Penn State funds would be a donation that would be a tax deduction. Some Sabres business expenses could be shuffled around and could angle for public funds for building construction and such, but the player salaries are just a cost. Unrelated note: Finished the latest Baker Fairburn Hockey Show podcast... Fairburn's never seen Star Wars. When he finally watches Revenge of the Sith and realizes that Adams has been Palpatine all along it's going to blow his mind.
  6. A member of the family is broken. 😃
  7. Baww gawd that man has a family!
  8. Perhaps his presentation merely consisted of a summation of the argument above: ā€œyou know what, in actually I don’t think it was even possible to have configured one playoff team in 14 years. We tried. We proved a negative. Let’s save more money.ā€ What could we even have done?
  9. Today
  10. Penn State got McKenna. Surely Terry was involved. It sounds like they have incredible facilities. Is he just neglecting the Sabres in favor of them?
  11. Zac Jones: 115games, 28pts, -10, 76 blk/82, 48 hits/82, -1.1relcf%, -13.6xgf and he's gonna turn 25. The MOFO has played only 115 games and he's -13.6xgf but they have him as the 8th defender or maybe 7th over Bryson. If he plays a game in Buffalo it will be 10 games too many.
  12. Lucha Libre is a sport:
  13. Probably Wilford or someone liked Zac Jones and Adams was like "cool! lets get him!"
  14. Fair point, But Crosby to me doesn't excite, yet he is sneaky great. There are players that in space of 10 seconds make you remember a 60 minute game. That was a Bert as others call him. There is a picture of my little sister youngest of 5, only girl, sitting on Rocket Richard's lap. As my older brother told me, Dad always when he went Toronto, say Rocket was the best ever, from his time line. Props to Crosby, but he to me never stood out, and maybe that is his gift. McDavid is a game changer.
  15. Don’t worry, Adams doesn’t understand it either.
  16. Big hockey news in my corner of the world. We got him. We got Matt Irwin: https://www.vicnews.com/sports/hometown-hire-victorias-matt-irwin-signs-on-with-grizzlies-staff-8115790
  17. Dahlin & Kesselring can’t be the torch holders for the D’s toughness. Did everyone forget the revelation Gilbert was last season? A physical defenseman that cleared the crease, played to body and dropped the gloves. Instead we resigned Jacob Bryson and signed Zac Jones. I just don’t understand what Adams is doing. Your were a bottom of the roster plug. He should understand as much as anyone what value having toughness brings to a hockey team. Instead we get 5’9ā€ players that aren’t good a hockey not to mention all the 6’5ā€+ players the Sabres have that don’t touch anyone.
  18. Complete with a Lindy Ruff mention about liking Geertsen’s toughness. So whoever said he had no NHL games was wrong. Not that 25 games is anything to sneeze at but at least he’s been in the show. Now they still need to find actual hockey players that understand the code. They got a little closer with Kesselring and Doan but they still need more than Tuch in the top 6 that can handle themselves when push comes to shove.
  19. That's the neat part, they're not.
  20. I don't think Adams was ever in danger of being fired.
  21. Yeah - gimme gimme.
  22. Jeepers. That is the very definition of effing around and finding out. Gotta protect yourself.
  23. My hope... they have things you cant teach... size and skill... mostly... if you can teach them that its ok to use your body to create space and increase the degree of difficulty to play against... not only does that help defensively, but it helps with puck control and offensive transition.... there in lies the big question... can you teach this... will they learn this... do they have it in them to do this... I am not looking for Chara, Chris Pronger or Scott Stevens or Ulf Sammuelsson level of nastiness... but give me a player that uses the body before the stick in the corners and imposes his physical will to make someone pay a price... that would be a dream...
  24. The NHL measurement of hits, giveaways and takeaways is a great arbitrary mystery to me. Love to see an explanation of how they are defined, tracked and verified.
  25. He had a cassette tape with him saying ā€œI want to be hereā€ on a loop along with slides of his childhood in Sabres pyjamas through his day with the Stanley Cup and his ascension through the ranks.
