Sabrespace: we need more guys tough to play against, who play the game the right way, are gritty, go to the tough areas. Also Sabrespace: well no not like Benson cuz he's short or something and only had 28pts as a 19yr old playing with a center who couldn't hit water if he fell off the titanic. The truth: if Zach Benson was 6' tall and this was his rookie year, expectations would be sky high. The crowd that ***** most about playing the right way totally discounts Benson for doing that. The guy is elite defensively, already, today. Zach Benson is going to be an elite nhl playmaker sooner rather than later. The big jump in production is coming. Will it be this year? Maybe not but he's still a top 6 forward without it.

While true it’s a conversational piece for the off season. I do believe it does slant the league to “favored” destinations for players, thereby creating an unbalancing in talent which is on full display in the overall league wide product. While I realize no organization or its fan base can have it “there way”, destinations with weather, lifestyle culture, favorable tax codes and to a degree, franchise prestige definitely have an advantages over those that don’t when it comes to talent draw or acquisition. That most certainly plays out in the season standings and playoff outcomes year in and year out. Just my view on it is all.

If only you could do it without dealing with salesmen.

Yikes. Might be the worst take in the thread. Benson will be about a 16g, 30a player this season and provide his excellent 2way play throughout. Soon to be? Benson won't be 21 until May.
-
I don't see how Benson will have only 18 assists this year. He'll have more because he won't be stuck with shooting impaired players.

If a player is good enough to demand one then that's the cost of doing business

I was there with my family. The kids spent way too much on my wife’s birthday and got tickets for the 4 of us. Surprised “us” this morning. I knew, but had been sworn to secrecy. The only reason they told me, was because my job was to keep the calendar clear. They bought what they could afford. The tix were in the tippy top row, 300 level. We got there around halfway through Dashboard Confessionals set. Up to the last row in the dark, made our way to our seats, sat down, and I noticed my wife was on the verge of hyperventilating. She was near terrified. She’d never been in the arena cheap seats, and I didn’t expect this. A couple of songs in, I went back down to floor level to find account services to see if I could pay for an upgrade. Nope. Not a single ticket available for us to buy in the lower level. Yikes. I offered to take everyone out on the town. I suggested we listen for a bit at a hallway hightop table. She stuck it out through the opener, and when the lights came on between bands she settled down a bit. She never fully got comfortable, but did relax enough to do some butt dancing when the Dolls came on. She did say she was ready to go before they ended. I assume it was a song or two before encore, assuming they did an encore. She got a t shirt. That made her happy. Lesson to self, no cheap seats for Momma.

Saw John Anderson and the Band Geeks back in the spring.....one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Saw Night Ranger the other night. Blades can still bring it at 71. All the original bandmates. Great show. Seeing McCartney for the fifth time in November.

Sabres fans: this team needs to get older. Also Sabres fans: Benson should be in the top six. Sabres fans: we need to replace JJ’s scoring. Also Sabres fans: Benson should be in the top six.

He's not a top 6 winger on a playoff team and he'll never eclipse 65 points in a season.

Wasn’t the best show I’ve seen them play but nice to see a sold out crowd downtown.

Awesome! I took my sierra elevation to the shop a month or so ago for brakes and while perusing the lot... I test drive a new Sierra denali... Traded the truck in while still getting the brakes and bought it 😂 such a smooth ride. It has the super cruise and I absolutley love it, makes the drive into work so much nicer not having to actually really drive the truck. New car shopping is always fun, at least when you have the ability to absorb the new payments.
-
If we’re talking about 23-25 year old Benson I’d go with option 1.
-
I think you made the right call. I had done some internet shopping for cars but then my car started to show potentially serious symptoms and I decided not the put the money into it and just go out and buy a car. I know I could have done a better deal and that eats at me but the new car sure does ride nice.

Should have just called it Darth Hyundai.

That car has way too many names.

Zach Benson: how good will he be this year?
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I like Benson, but they have placed him in a spot too high on a roster and expect too much too soon. Some people see him there and say he's not good enough, forgetting his age and how he shouldn't even be there yet. Others expect him to be NHL top 6 level at his age and that too is expecting too much too soon. I wish we had a roster that had enough veterans on it that we could step him back to third line and let him develop, but sadly, we do not. -

Uhhh Gerrymandering.. it's not a new concept at all. https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/gerrymandering-explained I mean.. I'm not even going to try and go further than that. Both sides have clearly been destroying democracy and have been for a long time. The system lives off of people who believe it's Republicans vs. Democrats. The more you fall into that trap, the more they win. -
Sabres Announce a 10 year extension for the naming rights of Key Bank Center

I see. I guess if that's how people took it then that's on them. It's not like they said they were committing themselves for 10 years. I think that's why I questioned the use of gaslighting... Not a big deal. -
Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night in Black. (Strange that they offer the Night edition in White as well) I was torn between that and a Nissan Pathfinder. I've never been so indecisive on a car... so I'm going to have to overcome the "would the Pathfinder have been better" feeling. Such a damn investment these days too. There wasn't a wrong choice for me... time will tell how well things go. I'm happy so far.

The sabres thinking they can address the roster in “typical” fashion remains a massive problem. I’ve said this countless times The sabres have needed a defibrillator for over 5 years. You can’t put yourself in a 14 year hole, disenfranchise your entire roster and fanbase over the last 5 years specifically, and pretend “a couple small “savvy” moves” are all the team needs. I admire the fact of how much of an incredible outlier you are in how much you expect of them, but you almost professionally remove context from your thinking as a choice; I just happen to do the opposite. No right or wrong there just stylistic. the team that’s been a drastic failure needs a drastic effort. You fall more along the lines of “well, just do what some of the other teams have done”. it doesn’t work like that imo: the solution needs to be sabres relative not relative to teams we’ve already showed we have failed to replicate “Well we more less did what Ottawa did and it doesn’t always fail when that happens” is just so woefully short to the point of insulting raise your expectations. We should be expecting nothing less than a roster that RIGHT now looks like a SAFE, SAFE bet to make the playoffs you were posting 2 years ago about how “come on people, don’t be afraid to expect something now!” The moves we’ve made this offseason are insultingly laughable through the prism of last offseason, if I had told you this is what they’d do after finishing with 70 something points you know that

Not disagreeing with your underlying point, but it reminded me of something I do disagree with that's become a bit of a summertime meme. If: UPL plays like a legitimate starter Lyon plays provides 30+ good games Norris stays healthy Greenway stays healthy Benson takes a step Quinn takes a step Kulich takes a step Power takes a step Kesselring is what he's supposed to be they replace Peterka's offence they play better team defence and they fix their special teams they might make the playoffs. No, none of those things happened and they missed the playoffs by 12 points. They need some of those things to happen to give them a chance to make the playoffs. Ottawa didn't jump from 78 points to 97 by dramatically overhauling the roster. They made one big move (Ullmark), a few support pieces and the players played better, collectively. That's typically how it works in the NHL. If all those things above happen the Sabres will be this year's Washington Capitals.

Fixed.

We need more Bensons.
