  1. Past hour
  2. I di like the acquisitions of Doan and Kesserling for JJP. However, that doesn't mean more couldn't been done to improve the roster. The meaningful issue isn't that the Sabres are improved as it is have they improved enough to be a playoff team. You are not competing against yourself; you are competing against other franchises that are also improving. Ambling along in a road race may be good enough when you are competing against arthritic seniors. But it's not good enough when competing against serious competitors. The Sabres have been out of the playoffs for 15 straight years. Don't be afraid to raise your level of expectations for this systemically mediocre franchise. Dumbing down your standards may be sufficient for some people but it is not for me.
  3. Or they could have just hired him the first time
  4. As far as fan bases go: Boston fans are harmless more 'show' than 'go'. As long you you do not bring up the Patriots cheating scandal or even hint in the slightest that Tom Brady is not the greatest football player in the history of the world by 10 miles. Stay away from that topic and you are fine with them. Philly fan can be rough around the edges. However, you are usually safe with them because they spend more time fighting each other to bother with other fanbases. Toronto fan I have found to be pretty good when it comes to the Raptors or Blue Jays. They are annoying with the Leafs but it is a step below a lot of other fanbases in terms or outright anger. With Leaf fan, it is more arrogance, or maybe even 'wanna-be' arrogance. New York fan is different breed of person. One gets the impression the sole reason many of them attend games is they are looking for an argument or fight.
  5. That is why New York and Toronto are basically the same versios a city just in different countries. And people from NY city, they were it as a badge of honor that they have the 'right' to be rude to each other.
  6. Show him the money! Zito probably has zero desire to work for TP but a promise to give him full power, not meddle and provide all the resources he wants could be attractive. Zito would obviously clean out a bunch of dead weight but it would great to see his moves and who he is able to attract. Does he bring in his own palm trees? Pipedream for sure.
  7. Gee... It sounds like your wife was grossly uninformed. Does she not know that Toronto is in fact the greatest city in the world? This is where the highest of the high class live... Like NYC, but as THEY'LL tell you- they're kinder and friendlier. šŸ™„
  8. Toronto, their fans and franchise as a whole just perturb me. Every Win = Greatest Team in Hockey Every Loss = Worst Team in Hockey or they are being cheated (Unlike most, they will insist on it far longer than most. Essentially they see every Leaf like Zach Benson when it comes to penalties)
  9. The veteran players on this team are actually optimistic for the future. Maybe they are naive, maybe buying into the internal talk but it’s palpable when you talk to them. The results and missteps have rendered a large portion of the fan base solidly pessimistic but athletes are by nature optimistic and it would be wrong to assume that they view their circumstances in the same way as the disenchanted fan base. There is also the fact that even if Tuch signs a team friendly, market rate contract he will still make millions more then if he signs a max contract under the new CBA.
  10. Jesus Christ - yes. And now I have to fight off the urge to think about this as a possibility (which it isn't).
  11. I would fully expect 9 plus per year. I wouldn't even be surprised by 10 It's Heff Skinner part 2
  12. We have a POHO, sure we haven't made the playoffs in 14 years but I don't see why the one that has overseen 14 years of failure should be held responsible for this. Keep Terry employed
  13. Today
  14. I think its a general "new york" thing. Some local broadcasts that are broadcast around the nation saying things like "from the greatest city in the world" or "The world's most famous arena (you may or may not agree with those things...but they like to shove it down everyone's throat). My personal experience is fans of NY teams are the most likely to go to someone else's arena in larger numbers and being arrogant. My wife and her entire family are form NY city. She grew up in Queens the first 30 years of her life, and worked in Manhatten. After moving away and having a couple years to adjust, she kinda agrees with that. She says you don't even think of it growing up, but you are told that you live in the best city in the world, everyone wants to be like you but they are just jealous...and then when you meet people from other areas you can just treat them as a 'lower class' without even thinking about it...because the news in NY city, the papers, the sports teams, the culture...just instill that into your head over and over and over. Now this is my personal anectodatal experience, others may disagree...but living for a few years in Boston and going to Fenway, and also being in Yankee stadium a few times, this is what I see. Go to Fenway wearing another team's jersey, and the locals around you will make a quick comment joke with you for a few seconds..but then the rest of the game they will talk to you, they want to talk about the Sox AND your team and baseball in general. Now in New York, go to Yankee games with another teams jersey on, and its more likely you will be sworn at (doesn't matter if little kids are around), EVERY SINGLE RUN the yankees score someone will get in your face about it, and you are likely to have a beer (or other beverage) thrown at you or spilled on you if you engage back with those fans in any single way. There are 'good' fans in NY, and 'bad' fans in Boston for sure, but the numbers of the bad ones are weighted heavily toward the NY side of things. Others may have had different/better experiences, but in about 6-8 trips to Fenway over the years, and almost as many to the Bronx, that is what I have observed.
  15. I think it's Dallas for me. I watch games where people in the front rows are standing up. People walking up and down the stairs during the game (Try doing that in New York). Posers behind the bench so they can get on TV. Vegas has some of that too but Dallas is old enough to know better.
  16. For the people who don't like the Rangers, I wonder if it's because they are in closer proximity to NYC. Here in Southern Ontario, the Rangers are a non-factor media wise, so I don't have any fuel to hate them.
  17. Do people do that?šŸ¤”
  18. The Sabres are not the fans, the fans are not the Sabres. This is too abstract for me. The fans are much better than what has become of the Buffalo Sabres hockey organization. The fans do not deserve this, they certainly don't contribute to the losing, and most of the fans do not like the way the team has been run since Pegula took over and made his big promises. The fans have now become quick to boo, but all they have left is nostalgia - Ryan Miller Day, Rob Ray Day, RJ Day. These special nights are the season highlights under Pegula and we are running out of hero's. I can agree that the fan base has eroded significantly, and that is because the Sabres Hockey Organization has been inept for a historical 15 years and counting. The look of the Sabres FO is that they do not even seem to be trying. I am with the bold. The lowest point keeps getting lower with each losing season. I stopped buying tickets to home games, that has never happened to me in any other season no matter the circumstances.
  19. Toronto and New York are at the top of the list for me. It has little to do with the players of course, mostly due to the fanbases. My perception has those 2 fanbases being slightly different, yet still annoying. Toronto Fans: When they win, it simply because, of course, they are the better team. A bad call against the other team? No big deal, Toronto was going to win anyway. When they lose, it is always some external factor, mostly the fans or the league out to get them because everyone is jealous of Toronto and the Leafs. In many Leaf fans eyes, the Leafs have yet to lose a game in the last 5 years that wasn't the fault of the refs or the league. New York fans: When the Rangers lose, the fans hate their own team, they turn on the team faster than almost any fanbase. But when the Rangers win, a large portion of the fanbases seems to think that they, the fans, are the reason why. New York fans seem take personal credit for the success of their teams more than anyone else. Both of the above behaviors, while other fanbases have them to a certain extent, are notable for Toronto and New York fans, and they are annoying.
  20. Great Question and it comes from a position of power, Zito yeah I think he would seems wired that way. Know it a pipe dream but have 15+ first rounders brought us?
  21. It’s sunny out, got out of bed earlier, put two feet on the ground and stood up. Appreciate the simple things in life…starting with your health. 😊
  22. In a mother ####### heartbeat.
  23. I think the thought is that if Tuch is extending, there has to be some hope and positivity to turn this thing around. Outisde of Terry stepping away or selling the team, Adams being pushed out is the next best thing by a country mile.
  24. If you are Zito, would you rather stay with the Panthers, or come work for Pegula?
  25. Yes!! He likes it here. Give him 10 mil per year. Food for thought…if you are Tuch where do you see this franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years, 4-5 years from now? Cup contender?
  26. Its not my money, and there is no salary cap on executives, so absolutely 100% all day, i wouldn't even blink about it. Pay him 1 million per year more then his highest offer he recieves
  27. If his extension starts with an 8 per season I will be so damn happy. I still like the idea from Rivet and Petey to front load the contract to bring AAV down. And I still think we should defer money on this. Pegula can afford it and this is the last off season you can sign those contracts, deffer money on it so it come in at an AAV of 7 million per season and thats a homerun slam dunk contract
