  1. Past hour
  2. I think this is fair... it may not be that they have more points... etc... but If we trade a top 3 forward with upside for 1/2 pairing Dman great... a 2/3 pairing Dman then I think you over all decrease your level of talent and hurt the team more than help... I do agree with you on the needs part.. So if we are saying we are going to trade away a top 3 offensive player scoring 70pts for one that scores 50 - 55 and plays both ends and begins to change the complexion and the culture of the team... I would say we got the best player in the trade for us... I am with you there... Its when you trade the 70 pt guy with upside for an oft injured player that scores 55pts doesnt play in both ends of the rink and get a 2nd rounder in 2026 to make up for it I have the issues.
  3. Desnoyers
  4. You’re nuts
  5. If we stay at three after acquiring the pick, you draft Brady Martin.
  6. I think you are right and it is unlikely we get "the best player in the deal". I mean, Byram and Peterka are near the top of pretty much any published "trade board". There is one player whose name has frequently come up as possibly available, who I would say is better than Peterka or Byram, and that's Jason Robertson. Some people would put Dobson in there, and I wouldn't strenuously argue against it, but I'm not fully convinced on that one. How can we get the better player in a deal, when we are the team that is apparently trading two potential star players, aged 24 and 23, that 1/2 of the league covets? Peterka and Byram are almost certainly going to be "the better player in the deal". I recognize that some folks may be sick of rants about how bad of a GM Kevyn Adams is. But, it really is impossible to overstate how ridiculous of a situation the Sabres are in. 14 years out of the playoffs and 4.5 years into a rebuild being run by a 1st time GM. Back to back years of regression during this rebuild with mountains of unused cap space. The GM's stated primary reasons for not using the cap space is that he did not want to pay the high draft/prospect cost of acquisition, and he did not want to create a scenario where he could not extend his up and coming players due to not having sufficient future cap space. And, here we are, with a 24 year old and a 23 year old who much of the rest of the league wants, and who may want out of Buffalo, and whose projected salaries at the higher end would put us right at or possibly over the cap, and we never had the benefit of winning before we had to make tough roster/cap decisions. It's incredible...in the worst way.
  7. Ahh, yeah. Was focused on the annoyed part of the post.
  8. They have to figure out how to extend him - that is, assuming he's willing to do so.
  9. https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/rosters/706244 The one scenario I'd go with involving drafting a guy with an acquired pick
  10. IMHO - losing Tuch would be a PR nightmare for this team. He’s the main piece in return for the Eichel trade. Flipping him for picks and/or prospects won’t sit well with fans or sell tickets. Maybe more importantly, losing a guy from NY who wanted to actually be here….but no longer stays by choice is such a damming indictment of the $hitshow this franchise has become.
  11. I don’t want to trade him unless a team heavily overpays.
  12. Today
  13. Perhaps, but my thing is not necessarily getting the “Best” player in a trade, but rather the “Right” player. IMHO - this team still needs different types of players (ex. Stay at home defender, tougher forwards who have some offensive skill who will have teammates backs, etc.). These aren’t necessarily “Best” players from a talent standpoint, but could fill important needs and not have NMC’s.
  14. The more I read about O’Brien the more I don’t like. Give me McQueen’s or Mrtka’s upside in that top 9.
  15. Quoting the exception doesn't prove the rule.
  16. Not Amerks news exactly, but the Abbotsford Canucks won the Calder Cup 4-2. So the Amerks lost to Laval, who lost to Charlotte, who lost to Abbotsford. 🤷‍♂️
  17. Another not to defend Adams.. but I also think that he probably is actively trying to acquire a player in a Hockey trade to make the team better... I suspect he is encountering situations where NMCs are getting in the way... and those vet players that would help the team are limited because they just wont come here... or the younger vet players are at the end of their contracts and Adams is not convinced he can re-sign them... thus they become rentals... I am fine trading anyone as long as we get the best player in the trade... I think that is likely proving to be difficult... So, the only way Adams gets a trade of equal value is if he gets the lesser player in the trade and picks or prospects... I don't think that this strategy that we have been employing for years now is an accident... I think it is a result... a result of the brand being so badly damaged you simply cannot get talent to come here unless it is picks or prospects... essentially Adams and Pegula's destruction of any reputation and competence is their own personal jail cell to improvement... and Pegula's refusal to acknowledge the need to repair same has thrown away the key... until this changes... nothing changes... I suspect their will be trades... I suspect that we will be giving up the best player in the trade and having the compensation equalized with pics and prospects... or the player we are getting has availability issues, or is hurt etc... which is the same thing we have been seeing year after year because of the above... we will lose our sh*t and watch the player go on to great success with another team and remember when he played for us... Sorry to be so down... but I am just not thinking that needle moving help is on the way...
  18. FWIW Andrew Peters has claimed his source tells him Peterka doesn’t want to move. He wants to be “the guy”.
  19. It really does seem like there is a top 8 of Schaefer, Misa, Frondell, Desnoyers, Martone, Hagens, O’Brien, and Martin. As usual, I have not seen much of these guys and most of what I know is just from reading scouting reports and watching some highlight videos. McKenzie’s final rankings really do align with what the building consensus seems to be for the top 8. O’Brien is perhaps the most likely to be available at 9. Re: Roger McQueen at 9; I’m not thrilled that the line between “too risky to take” and “too talented to pass on” seems to be forming right where we pick. If we do end up with McQueen, I will quickly find reason to focus on all the things I like about him. I generally root hard for Sabre players and prospects. I just would prefer we not use a top 10 on someone who might have chronic health issues. The kid who is not considered a top 10 who I’ve become enamoured with, is Cole Reschny. He has a lot of what have come to be considered, a bit unfairly, classic Sabre forward prospect traits (specifically, he isn’t big). But if we somehow end up with Vancouver’s pick at #15, or #18 via Calgary, I would be thrilled to get Reschny.
  20. I actually did need to explain I was moderately shocked myself, but in defense this poster is a pretty literal one... picking up sarcasm was not a specialty... lol c'est la vie bottom line is that it has gotten so bad that people actually dont know which way is up any more... it all falls in a category of "You cant make this sh%t up" LOL
  21. Not to defend Adams but most teams haven't made moves yet and just like the trade deadline, things will ramp up as we close on the draft and then as we close on July 1. Marchment would have been an interesting addition but nothing else has moved that I would want. If we make no move before the draft and then nothing before July 1, yea Adams totally failed this offseason. The next 6 days will tell the tale.
  22. I don't think we can afford to lose a player like Tuch, a player that has said to want to be here and on most nights gives it his all. He does come with flaws but alot less than a bunch of these other guys, I'll worry about those later years when they get here.
  23. Adams is moving at his normal pace, why this seems ridiculous is baffling. He will get around to a move sometime in early August, 2027, after his 5 yr extension is well entrenched.
  24. If Misa fell to 3, then you take him and run.
  25. What are you talking about? He’s been the best overall forward. Plays great D, on penalty kill, scored 36 goals!!
  26. Thanks. My questions are more basic, I guess. Who or what Pegula interest owned or is selling the Nighthawks? Who’s Pete’s “we?”
