  1. Past hour
  2. Couldn't quickly find it, but here's a great reenactment by a kid.
  3. Did you notice in a recent NHL promo that a player threw (or maybe it was a "spit wad") something at the back of Eichel's neck, prompting a Jack eyeroll? Thought that was a little edgy but funny.
  4. Write down the date lol. We agree. I have no issue with the arena. I SMH at people saying we need a new one or need to put 100s of millions into the old one. The pavilion could use a rethinking. Same for Alumni Plaza. The curb appeal out front is meh. That's 10 grand tops lol.
  5. I can skate too
  6. I feel like the Grand Canyon sized chasm is the IQ. Malenstyn can skate... His hands aren't great, but it's the vision he lacks most. I sometimes think Scooby Doo and the gang are going to show up on the ice someday, demask him, and reveal Zemgus Girgensons hiding underneath.
  7. I go to games all the time and I never feel like the building is a dump. It's a hockey arena. It does the job. I've been to other arenas, some nicer than others. TD Garden in Boston is nice but that's mostly due to the upgrades outside the arena. Tampa is great with their outdoor patios. The Panthers barn is meh and in a terrible location.
  8. ESPN's latest power rankings puts the pats at #2 and bills at #10. Feels valid given how the teams have performed thus far in the regular season. In a must-win or playoff game though, if I was a betting man, I would still take the Bills to win it.
  9. Soft tissue injuries are just a different animal, once you get a lot of them then yes you typically have more laxity in ligaments and etc etc. Not impossible to heal but a bone vs soft tissue is truly apple vs orange.
  10. played with/against countless pros over the years... from summer league in Buffalo in the early 90's with guys like Mogilny, Turgeon, Andreychuck, Marchant, GMKA.... to present day beer league in orange county with guys like Bieksa, Friesen, May, Yake, Upshall, Blum and young local kids like the Buium brothers, Trevor Connelly, R Johnson, etc. what separates the best of the best is their compete level. for them they just cannot turn it off, doesn't matter if it's a 10-1 game at 1a on a Tuesday or game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. you'd think, oh this guy is 50 years old now and playing beer league... he's won stanley cups! why the ***** is he trying so hard out here 🤣 i've talked to those guys about it and dialing it down is not even an option. it's just how they're wired. all of them are immensely talented, but not all of them have that "must win at any cost, all the time no matter what" mentality. ...it's when you pair up the freakishly athletic and talented with that obsessive compete level you end up with the top players in the world.
  11. The response you were looking for is “what could Kevyn Adams have even done?”
  12. Today
  13. Legitimately had to check the standings again after reading through this thread with my coffee we are in TWENTY-SEVENTH (27th!) place. There’s always a little bit of tongue in cheek when I say expectations have reached bottom of the barrel low, but from now on there shall be no tongue at all. things are never going to change.
  14. Yes, what an appropriate punishment that would be. 🙄
  15. Possibly, although I've had a glass shatter just sitting on the table.. sometimes strange stuff just happens.
  16. He sprained his upper or lower body. He also "has a knee" or something
  17. Did we ever actually find out what happened to Norris?
  18. Throwback to the ‘dis or dat’ filter that SDS put on and laughs ensued.
  19. Jack Eichel's neck appears to be holding up just fine. Sidney Crosby seems to have been okay. I'm not going to put any player into a bucket as it really depends on the injuries and what's done to treat them. Not sure if we know enough to make a statement on what will or won't happen.
  20. This site has set a filter to automatically add the umlaut to the O whenever Östlund's name is typed. Similar to the way how if you misspell Pominville it still corrects it to Pomminstein. So, no need to copy and paste to get Östlund done up the way they spell it in Sweden. 😉
  21. That's an ideal 4th line that will give teams fits
  22. There is a reason the Green Bay Packers are the only major publicly owned sports team in the US. Private companies don't have to show their full books to anyone but the IRS. With the players in the NHL getting 1/2 of HRR, we can calculate out what total HRR was (give or take a few $MM for not knowing exactly how much goes into insurance/pension funds) any of the last 20 or so years for the league, but not for individual teams. Forbes and the others that make these estimates of team value take knowns - ticket prices, concession prices, streaming prices, advertising rates and a lot of semi-knowns - TV contracts, tickets sold, concessions purchased, labor rates (for items other than player salaries), utility rates, tax rates, game related expenses, etc. and a few other items like reported prices for franchise sales and expansion fees and then project out estimates of what these are currently and in the future, and assume a discount rate - then voila (it doesn't just mean "your french fries are ready" 😉 ) you have the "official" value of what every single team is worth. And it's ALL just semi-educated guessing. And agree the teams are more profitable than the owners let on to them being - it's tougher to get concessions on utility/tax rates and to get municipalities to pay for maintenance/amenities when you're effectively printing money (ala the NFL) or even merely "comfortable" (ala the NHL and the other major sports leagues).
  23. Dunno why you Xd this @Taro T, this is the reality Why the heck would Adams be on the hot seat now? The Sabres won a game. Jury still out
  24. Beck’s goal shows that any guy in the NHL, even an Adam Mair or Beck Malenstyn has more talent at hockey than most of us can even imagine. The issue for Beck is the distance between him and McDavid is also the size of the Grand Canyon.
  25. Naturally, the one guy with a career FO% over 50 on the roster and he gets back and he's on the wing and probably prohibited from taking draws. 😇 Really good to see him back practicing with the team, though.
  26. No Norris tomorrow per Ruff maybe this weekend
