  2. YouTube video to get an explanation
  3. Interesting points: 1. When Clifton got to Buffalo he was culture shocked, he was struggling playing on the left side playing with EJ, and he admits he struggled and did not understand the system (Granato). He figured it out after 25 games and had a decent finish. 2. Clifton was scratched in the game that Tage got hit. Scratched in a game with 7 defensemen dressed. Gilbert never saw the ice after Tage got hit. WTF Lindy!!! Do you want a tougher team or not. 3. Sabres are one of the most highly skilled teams he ever played on. 4. Was not surprised he was moved. Was not getting much ice in the end of the season 5. Scott sounded like a guy that never played for the Sabres. 6. Questions on Peterka were interesting. Clifton was very careful answering these. 7. Cliffy has an Mechanical Engineering degree - another reason to like him 🙂 Clifton is a stand up guy and I wish him the best. He made no excuses, was accountable for his play, he said nothing inflammatory. I sense he and Lindy were not on the same page. 2nd bottom line - John Scott is kind of an azz. Asking questions about what was said in the locker room is taboo and an ex-player should know that. Asking what his best hit was, and on who, and who he wanted to light up, was also bad form.
  4. seeing the comparisons people are making with Byram & Montour just makes me die a little inside. It just reminds me of how terrible we've been with building this team & our asset management. Because we had Brandon Montour, we traded a 1st rd pick & Guhle for him. But then we had Montour play on his offhand side, which likely had a part in Montour's decreased offensive production, so we cut him loose to Florida & traded him for a 3rd rd pick. Great asset management there. Brandon's point totals doubled his 1st season with FLA & then doubled again to 73 pts the following year. The Sabres drought continued & the Panthers with Reinhart, Montour & Rodriguez are now back to back Cup champs. And now after another offseason with minimal moves to improve the team, now we're hoping we've found another Montour with Byram? Well what if we have? What difference would that make since we had the real Montour & bungled it badly? The issues that plague this team are still present, whether Byram becomes better or not. But this spinning around in circles & never moving forward is just really grating to the soul. As an aside: for the power play it makes total sense to put 2D & 3F's out there. Especially with our D whose strengths are their offensive contributions as opposed to their actual D. I really hope we see them try it this year. 14 years of no playoffs, what do we have to lose?
  5. I'm definitely not a Greenway guy, but he's here. So go Sabres. He does add some size and physicality. I just feel they could find this player in someone cheaper.
  6. The enormity of talent squandered by this organization... Pegula's influence is a perpetual raincloud and I'm reminded of the failures of Kevyn Adams every day I spend on here. But the terrible job Lindy and his crew did last year was kinda fading since they stopped playing. Thanks John Scott.
  7. Depends what the goal is, honestly - that’s the defining factor. Far fewer teams are electing the long form rebuild as the viable strategy nowadays, though. The success rate is too poor. There’s definitely the school of thought you need a big long form tear down endeavour to field a cup team if you aren’t a destination - the sabres profess to be among that group. If the goal is to make the playoffs, in the nhl that’s a year over year proposition - you can do that merely with competence and a solid offseason of work
  8. The Jets are gonna Jet...
  9. JFC I got nothing else. JFC And I am listening to the portion related to the Tage hit. Again, JFC Gilbert didn’t get a shift after the Thompson hit? How does that happen?
  10. Got tickets to go see John Legend in October. Yay old people pop.
  11. There was no real search for a coach. It was a flimsy charade. The owner selected whom he wanted to select. The owner again went with his nostalgic impulse. A third- rate owner acting like a third- rate owner. No surprise. The surprise would have been he having serious coaching search.
  12. Thanks for posting. Going to have to give it a more thorough listen, but in the two minutes I heard the statement that dropped my jaw was this: Clifton called this Sabres team the most talented he's ever played for; this from a man who was a regular on a 135-point President's Trophy winner. What a damning callout of the coaching staff and/or the talent itself.
  13. By the way, if anyone is interested in adding a USB CD player to their car, this is the one I got. It's plug and play in my car just by plugging it into the USB A port, and the cord is long enough to put the player out of sight in the glove box. So far it hasn't skipped even when going over nasty train tracks.
  14. You are right. I should have acknowledged your accuracy. It really was a good call, almost dead on.
  15. Today
  16. “Good call, Thorny” never in the equation, eh, Tom? The master predictor lol. I can only have been brainwashed by the incorrect group think
  17. It took me a few days to adjust. I'm still learning (just got the car at the end of June and spent a week after that out of town), but I'm figuring it out. My dealer actually sets up appointments for a week or two after delivery of a car to go over all the stuff it does and give the new owner to ask how to do things he hor she can't figure out. My appointment is Friday. I've got it mostly figured out, but for the media selection there is a horizontal list of all the options that's wider than the screen. I'd like AM, FM, Andriod Auto (which jumps to Pandora on my phone) and USB (CD Player) together. Instead, USB is at the other end of the list and I can't switch between Pandora and USB without scrolling horizontally. I need to see if there's a way to edit or rearranged those options. I'm not going to renew SiriusXM when the trial ends so I'd like to push that off to the end instead and move USB closer to AM/FM/Pandora. Maybe there's a way to do that and I will find out how Friday.
  18. lol absurd. I’ve posted countless times the multitude of tacts the team could take and not once did i specify we must move Byram for a forward. Go on - pull up my posts. Or, you can just go with the fact I’m being spoon fed my opinions from others and incapable of forming my own thoughts 👍 Good grief. I’m happy the board has shifted so smoothly to “absolute win by Adams” and “definitively improved”. That’s great - but please, please leave me out of your gaslighting “oh and if you don’t like it it’s cause you were brainwashed into expecting different” totally miss me with that. This is just going way, way too far now. Utter lack of respect for the discussion/poster
  19. ..... and somehow people are blaming JJP for wanting out of the cesspool the three horseman for franchise destruction created.
  20. So keep trading the best players and hope for the best???? I was told by a trusted hockey man, one still coaching in the NHL, that the first guy to replace Granato was going to have a tough time. Peterka didn't respond to Ruff. Cozens fell apart. Samuelsson fell apart. Quinn regressed. UPL regressed. All players that were not blocked and were part of the master plan. I get it, Peterka was unhappy. I am not sold on the exhaustive coaching search that Adams talked about.
  21. Which is why having Byram for $6.25 that year is a big deal. Had they bought any of his UFA years, he would've been getting $8-9MM. That difference covers most of Tuch's raise (provided they ink him to one; and for no particular reason personally remain hopeful he's still willing to re-sign). So, yeah, they're down $64MM from Skinner but only an extra $2MM from where they are this year and the cap goes up by more than that anyhow. But, yeah, somehow we've gotten to the point where the players Adams brought in are getting paid and they are once again a cap team though not necessarily a good one.
  22. Jeff Skinner buyout starting with 2025: 4.4, 6.4, 2.4, 2.4, 2.4
  23. I think the first year of a Tuch new deal would be in 2026-27, which is the year of the bigger $6.4m hit....which is an issue.
