Not a bad issue to have, better than not having a QB, D-Line, O-Line. That is an acceptable hole to have on this team.
-
Greenway isn't a top 6 player.
-
for better or worse, he was charting as CB2 on the outside. and that’s before the rookie was injured. this injury leaves them in a bad spot. the lack of a competent safety to pair with rapp makes the defensive backfield the team’s biggest issue.

It is crazy when you realize Zach Benson has played 146 games, almost 100 more than Nazar. Risky contract for sure, especially when you look at Nazar's underlying numbers. He was very meh.

Zach Benson: how good will he be this year?
GASabresIUFAN replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t know if the contract will work out, but it’s stupid to give out big$ contracts to guys with 53 games on experience and only 26 pts in those 53 games. When did Adams take over as Chicago’s GM? -
The Sabres just don’t have the depth to absorb injuries that is required when the inevitable injuries happen. And when a critical player such as Dahlin is sidelined, there is a cave in. Regarding your projected lineup, I would prefer Norris in the 2C spot and Tage in the 1C spot. I see Greenway more as a third or fourth line player. It’s going to be interesting to see how Ruff assembles the lines. I expect a lot of experimentation and jumbling of the lines in the beginning of the season.

There's nobody on this roster that will "save" them. They need several of the guys listed to have good seasons just to compete and not be complete basement dwellers.
-
I think this year all of our returning players will have incremental improvement that comes with another year in the books. Kesselring will solidify our D, which will be very good this year. But my vote for the player to "save" them is Norris, who will play to his potential. If we get average goaltending, we're in the playoffs in my opinion.

Sabres Announce a 10 year extension for the naming rights of Key Bank Center
Mango replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
And nobody should ever ignore the fact that Pegula has been responsible for the maintenance for 14 years now. He's a huge part of why the infrastructure sucks. -
It's not good enough but I'm currently thinking: Zucker - Norris - Thompson Greenway - Kulich - Tuch Benson - McLeod - Quinn Doan - Krebs - Malenstyn The idea being mixing veterans not developed in the Sabres system with youngsters and Sabres who just don't get it yet. It's not good enough but it's best I can come up with and of course it all falls apart when Greenway, Norris, Zucker all get injured.

Oof...not a playoff team there...

The advantaged of staying longer in the lower league is that the prospects will be playing higher roles and more minutes than if they were more quickly brought up. That extra ice time will accelerate their development even more than if they played limited minutes with lesser roles with the big club. When you watch some of the young developing players play against experienced NHL men players you can see the contrast when boys play against men.

I mean... I wasn't really thinking he would be starting anyway.

Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson attending US Olympic Team orientation camp
Pimlach replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Tuch is a two way player, he had good defensive stats and he led the league in blocked shots last season. He scored 36 goals last season, 94 in the past 3 seasons. He is certainly gritty enough for an Olympic All Star team. Why are you so negative on Tuch? He was 1 of 44 players invited for a shot at the Olympics, that alone puts him in a category that deserves more respect. -
I agree, but I'm just hoping one of them will be far above a PPG and showing themselves better off in the NHL. Unlikely I know, but this is hope season!
-
Bringing in young players from Rochester to replace vets on an already young roster will continue plaguing this roster i.e. inexperience. Let the upcoming young players continue maturing in the lower league so when they do move to the next level they will be better prepared.

Oh I don't think the Dylan Cozens comparison is accurate but we shall see what they are this year wherever they are. "Solution to the Sabres problems"? Well heck no, and you already know I hate what Adams has built, don't think the future is bright, hate our roster plan, and could go on and on with the issues they have BUT since Pegula doesn't fire Adams and he won't sell the thing and nothing there is likely to change you either quit and find a new team or try to be realistic around what we have. You also have to look at what's available. Is McTavish a perfect answer to everything? Heck no, but if he's available you look into seriously and if you can get him for picks/prospects you definitely do it.

Crazy how much territory Trump gave Putin with the lifted sanctions and TACO ceasefires, almost as if it was planned. It was obviously by Putin, using Trumps delirious state his mind is in. The eyeroll means you know I am right.

Wars on won on the ground. Aerial superiority is a nice to have but still doesn't guarantee victory and neither side possesses that superiority. Russia has the planes and Ukraine has the drones. I do not think any NATO ground operation(s) would be contained to the current theatre of operations.

And this is an AHL thread.
-
Kulich Thompson Tuch Benson Norris Quinn Zucker McLeod Doan Greenway Krebs Malenstyn By the end of the season, I'm hoping Östlund or Helenius can step into a 2nd or 3rd line role and demote the vets down. Not likely to happen though.

As long as they don’t get hurt, they can do whatever they want.
