  1. Past hour
  2. I couldn't care less. What I DO care about is that last season was a biblical catastrophe and getting something back for Mitts that prevented that from happening would've been an actual win.
  3. No. You stop thinking your way. lol. Look, I get it. It’s been way too long since we’ve been in the playoffs and people are getting impatient. But you can’t sacrifice your entire future just to put up a winning team finally. Because that success will be short lived. I’m young enough where I plan on being a fan in 10-20 years still. I hate seeing all these old and impatient fans getting mad when we might dare draft a player in the top 10 when he might not help us win “right now”. It’s ok if a player needs 2-3 years. We need those type of players too. Every successful franchise does.
  4. What kind of pick do you think Mitts would garner today?
  5. I have a different interpretation on the Pegula involvement from the clip. Maybe he did meddle before, but I don't think that is the case now. The owner wants to be informed in what's going on and what the staff is doing. KA may not be the most astute hockey person in the business but he is wise enough to keep the owner informed so that he will not be surprised when something is proposed to him. Is more attention given to this particular owner than other owners? Yes. But that doesn't mean that he is dictating any particular action.
  6. The Sabres had to do something to change the mix with their roster. And it was evident to all that Cozens desperately needed a change of scenery. He was pressing to the point where he was frozen. It was apparent in his play and more apparent in his stiff body language. Moving him was the right thing for the player and the team. As everyone else is saying, the overhanging issue with Norris is his injury history. For the sake of this discussion, let's assume that after an offseason of rest, rehabbing and training, he comes into camp fully healthy. This deal has the potential to be a good hockey trade for the Sabres. And if one factors in the Dockery addition, it could be more beneficial than expected from a KA transaction. What really sticks out to me in this clip is that the staff is very determined to change the mix on this team. It's just not getting better players as it is getting different players on this roster. This should be an indication that deals will be made this offseason.
  7. There are competing views on whether Pegula is too involved or disengaged. This video seems to want to dispel the notion that he is disengaged. And yet, it provides evidence that he is a meddler to those who think he is too involved. I haven’t watched such videos for other teams, assuming other teams produce similar content. Do other owners sit in on such discussions? Is Pegula unique? The video, to me, displayed odd editorial choices.
  8. Trading one asset that isn't helping your team for another asset that isn't helping your team is not a win. A win is trading an asset for an asset that improves your team. What makes it even more hilarious are the rumors of Byram being traded for a late first in a horrible draft.
  9. Watching the BBC yesterday and they did a piece on companies in America paying people to protest. So bizarre. They show up and are given signs to carry and shirts to wear. Nice to know we have a lot of folks with too much free time that stand for nothing.
  10. Today
  11. I don’t really agree with this assessment, but then again, I wasn’t terribly high on Mitts as a player. Until the season played out, there wasn’t a chance Cozens got moved. Obviously that changed as the season played out. And I am not convinced Mitts would have been any better in that role. I think KA turned an asset that was lowering in value into an asset that has stabilized at a higher value. And I am convinced currently that Byram is a higher value asset because of the report that many teams have interest, and because of the numbers he put up with minimal special teams time. Mitts is struggling to hang on, and Byram appears to have interest around the league. Did Byram plug a hole in Buffalo? Not really. He was a duplicate skill set to Dahlin and Power, and I would slot him between those two in regards to positive impact on the team. From a team building sense, I don’t think the Byram trade was a good one. But from a getting-the-better-asset sense, the Byram trade was a win for Buffalo. Whether KA can effectively take advantage of it is another story entirely.
  12. A FOUR is a long way away from a top 2 D-man. If they can't get at least THAT much for Byram, then keep him.
  13. Sinking ships is this franchise’s speciality. Anyone can float a boat that is in tack. However, it takes creativity to puncture holes in your boat and watch the bubbles going upward while the ship goes downward. Pegula will get in the salvage business and profit from his at bottom carcass. This organizations motto is: strive to fail and improve your draft status. This embarrassing storyline never ends.
  14. Emotional drivers. We were coming back home from Boston last week and at one point on the Thruway there was a line of vehicles in the right lane going really slow (maybe 10mph under the speed limit, it was led by a slow truck). It took me a while to change lanes to the passing lane, because a lot of people behind me got over there before I could. So I'm patient, wait for an opening, and then when no one is left behind me, I move to the right lane. There was a woman in a small SUV that was WAY behind us, but she had to be going 80-85+ mph. She came up behind me. Now, I'm back up to speed, passing the slow left lane vehicles at a pretty good rate, but this woman starts tailgating us as I'm certainly not going 85, waiving her hands, and eventually she got to the flashing the headlights. I'm not holding up the right lane, I did not come close to cutting her off. I'm passing pretty quickly the 5 or 6 cars and trucks going under the speed limit in the right lane. I just don't want to drive well over 80mph like her, so how does that cause her to act like she does? On a side note, the Mohawk valley visitors center....NY state get your stuff together. The new WNY visitors center on Grand Island has people working there selling food and drinks, a mini-market area called 'taste ny' filled with NY state food and products, a large area to sit in, and clean bathrooms. The Mohawk valley one? Its not that much older, its tiny, it has 3 ev chargers all out of order, bathrooms that haven't been cleaned in a while (when we got there), and their 'taste NY' area is a few vending machines.
  15. He traded an asset for someone who was as useful to the roster as a screen door submarine who he now has to move just over a year later. How is that a "win"?
  16. Needed a new umbrella base, old one was just getting kinda gross and we got a bigger umbrella. I wanted something heavier cuz it is windy. Both lowes and home depot succcccckkkkk. They have a crappy and limited in store selection. The only one weighted enough was absurdly priced. Finally the employee help... I get it you have a smart phone but I can look it up on my phone, so no you doing it isn't helpful. Instead of going and leaving with a stand I got the pleasure of ordering it and now I get to wait 3-5 days which is a weak complaint but you're a giant box store and you only have 3 models, in the entire place, everything else is online? So annoying.
  17. Pulling off 6 trades in one offseason seems unlikely. At least in that Chicago trade we get a Defense back. No idea of Murphy is good or not, didn't watch Chicago at all.
  18. https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/rosters/644297 How about Chicago as a destination
  19. Why would you think they could get a top 4 defensive D man AND a first for Byram? Good top 4 defensive D men are highly sought after and not way below Byram's offensive D man value. Not good ones. I'm sticking with it. If you truly want to improve the D your trade chip is Norris.
  20. And if Adams isn’t thinking 5his way, he’s even dumber than we thought. If he’s not bringing back better players in trades, he’s filling out his own pink slip. If he trades his existing NHL players for more draft picks, those will be used by his successor, or his successor …
  21. I think I've read on here that he "won" the Eichel trade, and the Reinhart trade, and the Risto trade (actually he probably did win that one), and the Mitts trade and the Cozens trade and he just wins all the trades doesn't he and yet somehow the team doesn't get any better. I think he lost them all (except maybe Risto) (McLeod if Savoie never makes it)
  22. Stop thinking that way. Sabres have been doing that for 15 years now. That future never gets here because it's always paid for by the present. Yes I agree with that, but I also don't think the current line up is anywhere close to being a playoff team. Without additions it'll be another year of futility and if Tuch leaves or Dahlin wants out it'll go backwards not forwards.
  23. Thing is, AN opposing GM won't be the only one trying to get Byram. And whoever wants him will need to beat EVERYONE ELSE's bid. The fact there'll be a line to try to land him should keep it from being a true fleecing. But Byram will definitely be the best player in the deal so personally fully expect to be displeased with what comes back. (Unless part of the package coming back either becomes Robertson or NEW GOALIE. Would be ok with not getting the best player in this deal if it means the team is ACTUALLY improved beyond simply having guys 1 year closer to their primes of course.)
  24. They're either coming from Peterka's agent (most likely source) or from someone in a FO of a team that's trying to land him. Since Brandon and the other guy got punted One Buffalo is a fairly tight lipped ship. But that isn't really here or there. There appears to be a big prize actually available (Robertson) and a package centered around Peterka seems like something that would appeal to the Stars and for once we might actually see a trade where the biggest piece comes TO the Sabres not the other way around. The last time that happened was when they grabbed O'Reilly. It's been far too long since it happened. Really like watching Peterka. Will not be happy seeing him go should it come to pass. But Robertson is a very good hockey player today and would be surprised if Peterka FULLY reaches his level. It would be a trade that even if Dallas eventually "wins" the Sabres wouldn't lose because for the 1st 2-3 years at minimum the Sabres would have gotten the best player in the deal. Really want to see Robertson brought in. And 2 1sts and Rosen is NOT going to make that happen. You have to give to get (usually) and Peterka could make it happen.
  25. Then you wouldn't get the player you want.
