  1. Past hour
  2. Listening to the Travis Yost interview on WGR right now. Surprised at how high he is on Buffalo’s defensive platoon.
  3. As i say before every season for the last 12 years or whatever. There’s no team in the NHL that should be more desperate and hard working than the Sabres, every game. If i hear after game 1 that they were “out worked” then the entire staff should be fired immediately. That should not happen in any game.
  4. If they were really smart, they would know that watching Sabres' hockey is the easiest way to drive people away from watching Sabres' hockey
  5. It’s going out on a limb to assume there is a defensive system at all. Also, if the issue is ensuring our own players don’t block his sight line to the puck by playing defensively in front of our own net, I think we’re fine.
  6. Chicago might be fortunate (and Florida might be getting even more injured) but the one thing I'm noticing is Bedard might be coming into his own now. Could be a breakout year. Knight also looks pretty good so maybe no McKenna for Chicago.
  7. Until he dies or we find someone better.
  8. Tyler Bertuzzi currently leading the NHL in points ... Edit: They changed the scoring now Bertuzzi, Nazar, and Teravainen all have 2 pts each.
  9. Today
  10. First hot take of the new season
  11. Oh I’d like to still have Ullmark but he was going to leave regardless after his father’s passing. Had we extended him earlier maybe we could of kept him.
  12. Is there a bet I can make for the Sabes NOT to make the playoffs. I wonder how much I would make if I put down $300. If they do make it, best $300 I ever lost. I did that with Chiefs Bills this past year in the AFC Championship.
  13. Florida is better than Chicago
  14. His planned number one had a late summer/early fall injury pop up. This isn’t a question of GM intelligence. Sure, question that choice of goalie, but the current situation really has very little to do with that.
  15. Hell, do we know if anyone else out in a claim? We’re very early in the priority order.
  16. So you double down on insulting a good fan like John? I'm certain he would rather see the Sabres win.
  17. UPL isn't good enough for Ruff to build a system around UPL. This is why, when you HAVE Ruff, and you have a goaltender good enough for Ruff to build around (Miller), you DON'T FIRE RUFF.
  18. Then we'll lose a lot of games.
  19. Maybe I wasn’t as clear as I hoped. What if UPL is out awhile and we have a system in place that benefits UPLs strengths?
  20. Two days from opening game of the season and here we are still no true number one goalie. YEESH... ka is brilliant
  21. UPL will not be back soon. DeDominicis. UPL will not be back soon. Me, because I've seen this before.
  22. I wonder if their thinking is kinda like some of ours: “if you’re going to use him a lot Mike, you can keep him. I’d not, we’ll send him down.”
  23. Considering Lindy was talking about implementing (planned in the summer) changes during camp while he knew UPL was in doubt and Lyon was the other guy, and that there is no indication UPL is going to be out for an extended period, I kinda doubt they are suddenly changing again. I think the kinda changes he was talking about were aimed at limiting high-danger chances, which ultimately should benefit goalies of any size. But I think your premise that the system was designed with UPL in mind is a strong take. To borrow a Josh Allen-ism, UPL is exposed most when he has to play hero puck. Behind a stable, predictable system I think he can deliver starting calibre goaltending.
  24. Well if they're going to give Ellis a shot, by all means. If any team can afford to give a goalie a shot, why not it be us.
