  1. Past hour
  2. I do so miss sitting with my grandparents watching the golden era flicks. Thanks for posting this PA, a reminder of the pure comfort of yester-years gone by. How I do miss them so.
  3. I don’t for a second think that this is something that happens at this stage of a season.
  4. Does that mean his shootout goal was a happy ending?
  5. It's like an advanced +/-.
  6. Dear Tage "Tommy Dangles" Thompson, If you're reading this post, please, for the love of God, CALL OUT YOUR TEAM BEFORE THE GAME STARTS. Thanks! Sincerely, All Those concerned.
  7. It is fun and almost a guilty pleasure. It's probably not the best or fairest way to hand out a valuable extra point, but I agree that it's very fast and dramatic to watch. Gets the heart pumping a little bit faster. And after a string of OT losses, maybe it's starting to swing in the Sabres' favor. They do have the speed and offensive skill to succeed in OT and shootouts, and with mobile defensemen like Dahlin, Power, and Byrum, it should give them an advantage, as these guys can (theoretically....) defend, but also have speed and offensive skill to jump into the play in the offensive zone. Most teams have a guy or two of that ilk, but the Sabres have 3. Kesselring may also fall into that category when he returns. It's ironic that the guy with the recent OT game winner is Samuelsson, who is NOT that type of player.
  8. Just googled. Absolutely, LFGFFS!!!
  9. I'm a troglodyte. What does LFGFFS mean? I know that the first three letters translate to Let's freaking (sanitized word) go but the FFS letters have me puzzled.
  10. Today
  11. I recognize that I'm in the minority here but 3v3 in OT is terrific/fun to watch. And to antagonize the members even more is that the shootouts are not only dramatic but also entertaining. It's to our advantage to get to the shootouts because we have players who excel in that format.
  12. Well, we both know that NHL .500 is a freaking joke and is utterly meaningless. And I've already admitted that you are right that 0.600 points percentage is more accurate than real .500. However: - Real .500 is very closely correlated with making/missing the playoffs -- i.e. teams that finish below real .500 very seldom make it and teams that finish above it usually make it (and teams that are 2 over almost always make it). - For example, last season, every team that was above real .500 made the playoffs, and every team that was below real .500 missed the playoffs (except one -- the Habs, who were 1 game under). - There is NFW that I am going to mentally keep track of the number of games this pathetic franchise has played -- so I am not going to be able to determine where they are relative to .600 points percentage without checking the standings -- which is more effort than I'm prepared to dedicate to them at present. But I can remember pretty easily where they are relative to real .500. So while I won't criticize your purist approach on this, I'm not going to adopt it either. The quick-and-dirty approach works almost as well and is much easier -- and this franchise doesn't deserve any better just yet.
  13. My recollection of a couple games they lost last year was the flyers totally out-skating the Sabres. Sabres doing there usual, thinking all they have to do is show up to win.
  14. The Flyers are a team with a need for a goalie, and cap space.
  15. Not sure how this team shakes off the “we’ve won two in a row and we are good so we don’t have to go balls out” like they did against St. Louis & Calgary. And last year. And the year before that. It has been a recurring theme with this squad for a while. Tage called his teammates out the last time. Tonight is a huge game. This team needs to show that they can flush away recent good results and work their azz off and earn it. The injury bug is no longer an excuse. How hard are they willing to be to play against? Dahlin and Tage score tonight and Ellis does enough to get a win. Let’s gooooo!
  16. We're gonna make this guy look like a future all star.
  17. THAT'S Buffalo Sabres hockey right there.
  18. I'm saving a perfectly chilled LaChouffe just for tonight. Unfortunately I have a 6pm meeting to attend first. So I might have to catch up. Correct. No ESPN+ but if you get TNT on your TV package there is no blackout. It's a national broadcast.
  19. One day I was in NYC waiting for a train and I went inside the lobby of the building next door to check my phone. Turned out that was NHL headquarters. I thought about stopping in to say hi to Gary but I didn't want security to taze me. Or what a kicking motion is.
  20. We're actually 5-5 vs PHI over the last 10 games, certainly doesn't feel that way.
  21. My point is the rules are the rules. Until they eliminate the OTL point, those still matter. And maybe some of you are just young whippersnappers and don't remember when NHL games ended in ties. Each team got a point. So don't look at it as a loss. Look at it as a tie with a bonus point awarded to the OT winner. Because essentially that's what it is.
  22. You don't know why, tho. Is he the #1 goalie now or was he being showcased for scouts?
  23. Now that's just crazy talk.
  24. Sabres top six is healthy, Dahlin is playing great, and we are getting a steady diet of backups. Phili: Backup confirmed this morning Winn: Backup or third string since Helle is on IR Calg: probably Wolf even tho Cooley’s numbers are better. So kind of the backup? Edm: Most likely the Skinner experience, so who knows what we are in for. Van: backup or third string because Demko is on IR Sea: Starter We are getting almost everyone’s worst in the crease and we have to take advantage. I’ll say 4-1-1 when it’s much more likely it’ll be 2-2-2.
