  1. Past hour
  2. Maybe poor AHL teams/goalies or defensive-only deployments or a combination thereof.
  3. Well you don't have to look far because most of those potential tank teams are not in the Sabres division. First off there's Florida. Same basic team, going to make the playoffs even if they coast a little and don't care about top seed (team is likely a dynasty only at the mid point in a 4-5 year run) Then there's Toronto. Might lose a few points with Marner gone but that team isn't dropping like a stone. They will be in the playoffs like it or not. Tampa. Question mark. Will they fall finally? Been predicted for a while and never seems to happen. I figure they will stay about the same. Ottawa? Could fall but look slightly better, more mature, if Ullmark is healthy and good can't see them being worse than they were. Montreal? Definitely improved. Unless things go horribly wrong there with injuries that team should keep rising. So there's already no spot without a massive increase in points. Massive. Detroit is kind of like the Sabres. I like some of their prospects better but unless Gibson has some sort of change of scenery rise they will miss again and stay a few points up or down from the Sabres. Bruins? Can't figure that team out and I follow them. 40 wins and 40 won fights? Lots of question marks with that team. Still lacks offense. I suspect they will do another deadline tear down, try for McKenna, and then try to pivot quickly with free agency. They have much less patience than the Sabres. But Sabres could finish ahead of them this year for sure. Bruins could surprise and compete for a wildcard but things would have to go very right for them and Swayman would have to be Vezina level. Even if you just add the wildcard pressure from Columbus and NYR the chances of the Sabres, who only marginally tweaked the line up from last year making the playoffs is next to nil.
  4. Great post. I appreciate it. I clicked through on that YouTube link. The song started playing. The video started ... playing. And I was like "holy sh1t - this song SUCKS." (Very much NOT my cuppa.) But then that hook came around ... and I was like OH DAMN THAT'S WHERE IT'S FROM?!?!?!
  5. Know nothing about the player and looking at his hockey db provides no answers either. The most interesting thing about it is how it makes you ask “how did a guy with those numbers” ever spend as much time on NHL rosters as he has? Maybe he has some Kozak-like qualities with Tyson being waiver eligible?
  6. Uh, OK. Why does KA seem more interested in making the Amerks better than the Sabres?
  7. @GASabresIUFANhas been sent to a rest home to treat his uncontrollable rage and depression related to the GM's lack of activity this offseason. Georgia George wanted the GM to completely turn over the roster and get rid of all the dead wood i.e. 90% of the roster. However, he's been ordered by the psyche staff and his family to take a break from SabreSpace where he constantly works himself into a self-induced rage. I'm sure after a revitalizing respite Georgia George will become a calm and placid Sabre fan once the season starts. Out of deference to his mental health I will not mention the name Owen Power. His fuse gets lit whenever that name is mentioned. We all wish him the best. He's a treasured member of this discordant community.
  8. Amerks signing. Had 13g and 11a in 69 games for Hartford last season.
  9. as the rest of the board can be heard breaking out into... "We're gonna win that cup... me and the Buffalo Sabres yeah yeah yeah" LOL
  10. We've got him! We've got our guy!
  11. Like these reactions. 🙄 I like the schedule. Going to be able to see the Caps the same weekend as Bills-Chiefs. Assuming the Bills play at home in the divisional round, there a Sabres game to go with it. March has two home game clusters to come in for.
  12. IDK why, but it gives me The Blue Nile vibes Not in a theory sense, just the vibe
  13. Lazy? Looks like they put hours of effort into it. Didnt really hit with me, but the average hockey fans at work (who don’t follow the Sabres as a rule) were talking about it and raving about it. 🤷
  14. Today
  15. 7 extra road games in December and 4 extra road games in February. Play 0.500 from after December 1 through the end of February and they'll be ok.
  16. 4 extra home games from March 1 on too. So, presuming they're still better at home than on the road like they were last year, they're setting themselves up for a fast start and a strong finish. CAN'T have the typical January-ish collapse that they've set themselves up for. IF they're within 4 points of the playoffs the moring of March 1, they're making the playoffs.
  17. That schedule really doesn't look terrible. Could they actually stay afloat until 2026? They are obviously not making the playoffs, but can they just make it interesting and be within 4 points until at least March 1 this season?
  18. They'd better get off to a fast start - 7 of 10 October games are at home. (And only TWO of those are weekend games. #### me now.) They'll have played 6 extra home games before the big western road swing also of 6 games. (Yeah, Filly ain't west, but the next 5 on the trip are.) Like that 3 of the last 5 are home.
  19. Blue is a VERY good and seriously underrated album.
  20. Have Sabres improved... how much remains to be seen... still holes to be filled especially top 6 on offense... or young guys really stepping up.
