I'm not taking a sub par offer but I don't have to win the trade either. If the on ice team can get better than it's good for me regardless of what the on paper trade looks like. I don't think they need Norris and I don't think they need 3 goalies so I'm looking at a move there. I also have to have a firm Tuch plan. make a final offer and see what he says. Then act accordingly as you cannot let him walk for nothing like Ullmark. It's scientific and medical. Injured areas are never the same as they were.

I don't disagree with most of that. There were a few early games that had me thinking, hmmm, are they getting it this year? But I didn't want to get too excited and then they started losing in OT etc. and things started to look the same. I still don't see enough fight on the boards and winning puck battles to take them seriously but it does look more like an actual hockey team. It would be nice if they could win some face offs too.

I agree about them not having much of a chance for a championship under "McBeane," especially the "Mc" part. If the Bills were in any big market city like NYC, Philly, LA, SF, Dallas, etc, McDermott would have been fired quite some time ago. He more than often gets out coached, especially in close games, and in some cases even when we win he is still out coached. Maybe the only reason McDermott still has his job is because Josh Allen can make any average coach look good. That and because we're a small market city where the media just doesn't put enough pressure on ownership to make a necessary change. As far as Beane, yeah he did great drafting Josh Allen, but for what he's let happen to our corps of wide receivers, he can go too. Even the crappy teams at least have receivers who can get open. All too often when Josh is able to scramble out of the pocket looking for someone for what seems like an eternity, they still can't get open. It's so sad see a superstar quarterback not have the weapons he needs most. It's a miracle that Josh still does what he does with what he has to work with. As far as Brady I can't tell if he'll ever come close to being the elite play caller that so many people thought he would be. Hopefully he will, but everything has become way too predictable. Every team in the NFL has figured it out that James Cook will most likely run on first and ten regardless of the situation. Ugh.

For the rest, do your own work, the info is out there I'm not digging up anything else to justify my point (the info is out there) The collection of those guys are certainly better than the number of games the Sabres lost with 'top guys'.

Granted they screwed the pooch against CGY, but in general this team is bringing it more often than not. I think the current roster is playoff-worthy, but they're in a hole. On the other hand, more help should come when Kulich and Norris return. And the bottom six is more effective than it's been in years. To be honest, I'm okay with the D situation. Bryson's been playing pretty well.

I would not be surprised if "Kev-Mo" are getting numerous offers on players. Are any more than just spitballs? I know we are in a big hurry to move certain players but there is no reason to take a sub-par offer just because.

I got really bandwagonesque when we had that win streak with Eichel-Skinner-Reinhart tearing it up. That was the last time. Last few years I've settled into a prove it and show me kind of view. Just don't trust this team to show up every night. It's been calming since so far it's been constant.

True, but each injury makes your body more prone to more injury. We will see what happens I guess. As for the chatter, not surprised. One, I think there are always vultures looking to pick at the carcass. Two, I think it likely some think they can get the better of Adams. Three, there's Tuch, too many goalies, too many bodies period. I suspect there's a few teams looking at this or that and seeing what the asks would be.

It can, but that win streak has to happen. In this compressed schedule, relative to other teams, they are actually healthier now than some so there is a chance to move up but they have to show up every single night to have a chance at making that happen. Cautious optimism is the best i can do.

We are going to have to agree to disagree here. First look at how much they are paying him. next look at how little he plays. It just doesn't make sense to build around him. I mean look at it this way, if by chance they get good enough to compete for the playoffs or even in the playoffs, do you want their success to rest on this guy who is one hit away from out for 6 months? I wouldn't. But let's leave it at that. If Adams is still GM he obviously won't trade him because he will want to validate his own decisions.

At least Spartak is one of the richer teams in the KHL. Moscow based. A player experience closer to the NHL.

Thank you for a list of random guys who missed games. But how many teams lost 4, 5 , 6 players top end players at the same time? Give me an example of a team like that that made the playoffs.

He's a role player. Every great team has role players that do the dirty work. On this current Sabres squad I see role players just nailing their roles and providing unexpected bonuses, like Beck's goal. When the Red Wings won their first Cup in 42 years, it wasn't Sergei Fedorov who scored the Cup clinching goal, it was Grind Line winger Darren McCarty, on a goal similar to Malenstyn's, similar to May Day. Playoff games are won by bangers like Brad May, Darren McCarty, and yes, Beck Malenstyn.

He did. He propped up the bottom six with improved players. He's got youth pushing up from Rochester, not because they don't have anyone else, but because they deserve their NHL shot, and they're making the most of it.

No, I grant the excuse. My dudes, you're looking at this all wrong. The Sabres have been playing through injuries most of the season and they're still at a .500 points percentage. And what's more, they climbed back to .500 and they still are playing through significant injuries. They're learning how to win without Norris, Kesselring and Kulich. Of course Kulich is only in the conversation because of Norris's injury, but he's been a top six C and he's out. And yet we have a center spine of Tage (really best at wing), McCleod (possibly best as a 3C), and Östlund, Kozak and Krebs in the bottom six. And... we're winning more than we're losing. I think the current roster *is* a playoff roster, and getting our centers back will make this an even more formidable squad. The injuries are not an excuse, they are an opportunity for players to show what they're made of, and for players like Kozak, Östlund, Rosén, to show what they are capable of, to show that they belong. And players like Kulich (although currently injured) and Quinn, they are getting the opportunity to demonstrate that they can be contributing stars on this team. I love Tage and Tuch and Dahlin, but this team is making a playoff push and it's the AHL subs and the role players that are making it happen. To be honest, I'm kind of geeked up about this team.

4th line player or not, to me Malenstyn will be just as big an asset as any 2nd or 3rd line player on this team IF we were to make the playoffs, not because of the beautiful goal he scored the other night but because he dishes out punishment with his hits. He is one of the very few Sabres who doesn't just bump into the opposition, he skates hard and fast directly into them and smacks them with authority and does it with no fear. In a playoff situation give me Malenstyn over a few of the under producing supposedly elite players on this team. I love when he is on the ice.
