I started watching it yesterday, I only got a few minutes into it. The other guys asked Rob Ray about some players (Dahlin, Power, I think Benson, and others) and Rob had nothing but good things to say about them. When any individual person was brought up, whether the players or coach, I got the impression Ray basically said everyone was great (individually)

"Terry's words really got into corners, kept pressure on my D and looked to finish around the net. Because I'm so slow and took many hits to the face, he needed to simplify his game. Really strong effort even if the results weren't there."
-
Could be a guy ready to come in next year. Find another teams Rosen.

Doan wasn’t an Utah regular last year. He spent most of his time in Utica and played 11 games for Utah. But, here he is. Now permanently on our roster. This is the type a player. A guy ready to contribute within 12 months.
-
I agree 100%. I want an NHL ready prospect in return who can contribute right away

It's not that folks think Terry doesn't care. He does. The problem is that he believes he's qualified to act as a POHO and dictate the strategic direction of the team. As owner he has the right to do that, however it hasn't worked. Wether or not he ever comes to the realization they need an actual experienced hockey mind in the POHO role remains to be seen.

offside calls should be fully automated, we have the technology. It was, by definition of the rule, a hand pass. Tuch swatted at the puck and wether intentional or not, it hit his glove and went untouched to Thompson for the tap in. Correct call. McDavid's tying goal was clean, had no issues with it. Tuch should've received a penalty for a cross check, prior to his hooking penalty. It was a make-up call, happens all the time. He knew he got away with the cross-check, no need to reach over the guy and pull him down right in front of the ref. Low IQ play from Tuch. Ruff gets heated at officials. I like it. It shows that he cares and he's competitive. The jersey tug on Quinn in the final minute was egregious and should've been a penalty. He felt the tug and he went down, I believe if he stays on his feet and keeps battling he gets that call. Instead he flopped down to the ice, which refs don't like.... make an effort to battle through the infracton and you'll get the call every time.

On that CalGARY podcast with Rhett. Easily found. I am rushed now but can add a link later. Rob said Terry is a big fan and cares. He said Terry will stop and talk Sabres with him for 20 minutes. Why doesn't he afford us the same? It's an enormous PR faux pas to let the vacuum of his silence rule and let people fill in whatever opinion they want to inject. If Terry spoke and was genuine and explained what he's doing and why, where he's trying to take the Sabres, it would go a long way. The cold shoulder is beyond frustrating. Hearing that he's chatty with Rob makes it that much worse.

Three headed goalie monster coming to an end?

I along with a few other here pay for FloHockey to watch all the Amerks games. Honestly Levi has not been impressive this year. Topias Leininen has been a little better. Why is this happening? Bad coaching? Is Levi butthurt over the Sabres claiming Ellis? Are teams figuring out how to beat a smallish goalie? Who knows? Head coach Mike Leone had to call Levi out recently after some less-than-stellar performances. -

If such a player is coming back, he’d have to be 2-3 years away from NHL duty, otherwise why would any contender do it?

Another well written NHL Rule, Mamba Number 81. For the purpose of this rule, the point of last contact with the puck by the team in possession shall be used to determine whether icing has occurred or not. As such, the team in possession must “gain the line” in order for the icing to be nullified. “Gaining the line” shall mean that the puck, while on the player’s stick (not the player’s skate) must make contact with the center red line in order to nullify a potential icing.

So you want to repeat the past? He had 3 number 1 picks in 2022 and our GM traded none of the picks on draft day or prior. No one is trading a top 2 or 3 first rounder for mid and late round first rounders.
-
If we trade Tuch, I want a Doan equivalent coming back. I don’t want a 1st round pick from a team likely to make the playoffs.
-
Draisatl 100% knew what he was doing there. He has nothing to lose at that point. That brings up another issue from the last two games to keep an eye on. The two goalie runnings have been very blatant. Yes, penalties were called both times, but is it now open season on Sabre goalies? The team is going to have to do something very soon to end that.
-
Quinn had a bright future (talent?), until he didn’t. So I don’t know what to believe anymore. Maybe we overvalue our players.
-
We have had, and still have, plenty of players with god-given talent, but never a good goalie and never enough good veteran leadership. Anyway, I think this team should be ranked above average when it comes to talent alone, BUT, why do we always suck? Obviously, KA's philosophy of putting together a winning team has been a total failure. When it comes to a winning philosophy, I think the new US mens soccer coach nailed it last week during an interview when asked about his player selection for the World Cup this summer. He said that his philosophy of player selection is inspired by what Herb Brooks said in the movie Miracle on Ice: "I'm not looking for the best players. I'm looking for the RIGHT players."
