From a stat line standpoint there is no surprise, nor argument... I think Sabres fans have disdain for him because he despite all of his points and scoring actually was part of the problem for the lack of success in his Sabres stint... from what we hear from some of the players of that era mostly Rob Ray but others as well... he was an arrogant self absorbed me guy that was divisive, he played like a me guy... he was gutless (hearing him tell the team that he was coaching that they needed to get to the tough areas of the ice... ) that's like Niagara Falls preaching to Lake Erie to stop being wet... literally stepping out of the way of Stephone Richer in the final game of the playoffs (at least for us) in overtime to give him a clear shooting lane to me exemplified his entire career... His abject cowardice in the Red Wings Sabres Brawl when Maguire ran Stefon... you see these Red Wings jump Maguire and 3 other Sabres jump in... one lagged back Housely... then at the other end of the ice when Probert was free and Maguire was down he had a chance to get in the way of Probert who was going to cheap shot his teammate... Probert wagged his finger at him.. Housely turned around and looked away... and Maguire got tagged when he was on the ice.... THAT is the Phyllis Housely I remember... as do many Sabres fans who watched him play... He literally made me sick watching him play... I remember Maguire calling him out after that game... I believe he was traded not long after that... Sorry for the longwinded thing... but the Housely paradox is an interesting one... His talent and production offensively should have been regarded in the same breath as Perrault and Martin and Gare and LaFontaine... yes he is so widely disparaged by those who watched him every game... Hall of fame numbers... absolutely, Hall of Fame player... hate it...

Not a horrible comparison, although I actually think Peterka is a bit better defensively then Ray Sheppard.. then I again, I am better defensively than Ray Sheppard lol... but the guy could snipe no doubt... anyways kudos to a blast from the past...

Yeah, what are the odds of scoring two empty net goals and not allowing one? I wonder if that's ever happened in the playoffs? Before this season, a team erased a 2 goal deficit in Game 7 only three times in the NHL's 100+ year history. And this year it happens twice on consecutive nights. Crazy.

I think the only positive to come from our playoff drought is the lack of stress that comes from playoff hockey. Just imagine being a Blues or Avs fan tonight after playing knockout, drag out games, having a a 2 goal lead and choking it. Not to say I wouldn’t mind a bit of playoff stress but I’d be in tears if I were a Blues fan. They just had their Bills equivalent to the 13 seconds game.

Peterka doesn't remind me of Skinner he makes me think of Ray Sheppard. That's probably too far back for some people here but there it is. I fear we will overpay him and regret it.

Monty don't do so well in game 7s 🙂 That was a good finish and this time the refs did put the whistles away which was good. I doubt Winnipeg gets past Dallas unless Hellybuck somehow becomes a playoff goalie which is more than unlikely. If Winnipeg were to win the cup though I want Hamilton or somebody to ask Kevyn how they did it when they don't have any palm trees.

The Avalanche and Blues both choke away big leads late in Game 7 and the two teams I got wrong in my bracket. 😂

And then shortly thereafter Vinc had probably the save of the season. Vancouver worked a great back door play and Vinc found a way to get his stick onto the shot towards the nearly empty net.

They called Chase Fraser a sicko for that one on TSN and were like "are you kidding me?? We waited til this point in the game of the semi-finals to see the goal of the year??"

McKay is just on fire in the playoffs with another hat trick and added an assist trick as well to finish with 6 points in the game to lead the Bandits... Now has 9 goals in 3 games...

Just watching the playoffs every year it's glaringly obvious that the Sabres are a mile away. I don't care if they missed the playoffs by a point and had 99 this year. They just aren't close to competing in the first round right now. Not against another teams playoff effort. I know from a skill perspective they aren't an upgrade but this roster has desperately needed Greenways and Zuckers for a long time. At the risk of beating a dead horse this team as constructed is handicapped by: 1. Having the most expensive blue line in the league and being embarrassing at defense. 2.Not doing more after/during the 91 point season. I just cannot believe that Adams is still around. It's bonkers. Maybe Lindy is doing everything and once Lindy is done behind the bench he leads the search for GM as he rides into the sunset. I don't know. Maybe it's just wishful thinking? At this point I'd be ecstatic if Terry put Brandon Beane as the GM of both organizations.At least he'd know to just GTFO of the way.
