I think this is the most realistic take. TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if JK retools the top six except TT and Doan. He has Norris, Tuch, Quinn, Kulich, Benson, maybe some picks as trade pieces. Maybe he can get a 2C and two established top six wingers with that currency. Rosen/Östlund round it out. Maybe other teams can afford to wait for Benson to learn how to finish or absorb Norris’ injuries.

I think - Ellis will be waived. Tuch will get traded. Östlund will come up or the rest of the season. Ruff will likely get the rest of the season and then the entire coaching staff will get canned/no new deal.

This is a loaded topic. Jarmo’s had 8 months to evaluate players, coaches and staff. I expect some changes to happen quickly. I think Lindy is the first move. As much as I like Lindy and his contributions to the Sabres as a player and coach, this team needs a completely fresh approach. I expect Lindy and some of the coaching staff to be fired as soon as Jarmo can get a new coach under contract. This assumes that there is someone currently at home and who wants the job. Torts is the obvious answer. I doubt Deboer would be interested, but Jarmo needs to at least call. I think I know why the firing of Adams was done now. The Xmas roster freeze starts Dec 20 and lasts until Dec27. This gives Jarmo 12 days to begin working the phones to atart his remake of the roster. I suspect Tuch will be the first player moved. Östlund and Rosen have played well enough that Jarmo should have some confidence that they can remain in Buffalo and contribute the rest of the season. I also think he’ll end the 3 headed goalie monster as soon as Ellis returns from IR. I love for him to find a taker for UPL, but that feels more like an off-season trade. I don’t expect further changes to the roster until closer to the deadline. I also don’t expect is a wholesale dismantling of the roster, but for Jarmo to make 2-3 bold roster moves, before next season with Tuch being the first. I looked at his time with CBJ to try to get a reference point. He was hired in February 2013 and acquire Gaborik at the deadline in his first big deal and also added goaltending. His first big FA signing was Nathan Horton in 2013.

Oops, I actually just changed my username to Swedish in 2018 because many of us were doing that on the forum, hoping for good luck in the Dahlin draft lottery (it worked! 😛 so I didn't change it back). I'm a NY'er (Buffalo born, NYC based for quite a while). However, having come across a fair number of Scandinavians (Fins, even) in my business, I would say that you can see these two things illustrated by looking at the contrasting example @Thorny provided: Tim Murry, a boisterous North American version of "no BS." Jarmo's "no BS" style keeps the cards closer to the vest, while still being very intentional and decisive.

This has been studied and this is not true. The reason why it appears coaching changes work is because of revision to the mean. Coaches get fired in valleys, when the team appears worse than they are. They naturally revert back to the mean after the change and fans erroneously attribute that to the coaching change.

Well, let's hold on a second! There is a broad spectrum of "no-BS" types of people, and I would tend to say that the Scandinavian "no BS"-type is pretty much on the opposite side of that spectrum, when compared to the North American "no BS"-type (for whatever that's worth).

I will predict that Pascal Vincent, currently the HC in Laval, is the next head coach of the Sabres. There was precedent set two years ago when Edmonton plucked Knoblach off the Ranger’s AHL team mid-season. I think it will be an offseason move though.

I don't know what will happen but as a fan I need optimism and some sort of reason to have hope. As such you have to view this as a new era. End of the year and Xmas and his father's funeral etc. so ;et's just say 2026 is the beginning of the next era. Will they try to win now? Will they tear down for a new rebuild? Could be anything let's hope it's something, but whatever it is imo it has to involve these things eventually: 1. the team needs an identity. I can never figure out what they are trying to be can you? 2. the team needs structure and a proper defensive system. Too many changing ideas, too many mistakes, too many blown coverages etc etc etc. They need discipline and structure and then within that play to their identity. 3. the bar must be raised and the team has to get serious. No country club bs. No development years. The mantra has to be just "win" and all the expectations have to be raised. Losing needs to be unacceptable. get it done and anybody who doesn't buy in needs to be gone.
