  1. Past hour
  2. the same struggles have gone back far before any of them were on the team. Try again.
  3. This poor guy is doomed to the goalie warehouse on Genesee St. We keep our Puppa scoopers there too.
  4. I ain't free.
  5. Competition could be the exact thing UPL needs. He’s never had a competent goalie threatening to steal playing time from him. He’s going to have to consistently bring his A game if he want significant playing time.
  6. Many? Ellis and Appert. Neither of which should be coaching an NHL PP.
  7. More like JJP was a 2-way liability and didn't seem very interested in improving that on a team full of 2-way liabilities and plenty of young players coming up with scoring prowess. Preventing 30 goals has the same effect as scoring 30 goals.
  8. Doan was good last night but he did cough the puck up cheaply in his own zone twice in the 3rd. Have to clean that up for sure. But he’s a player and seemingly well liked. Hopefully this kickstarts their season.
  9. How was the Amerks PP under Appert? Seems hard to keep blaming coaches when many different coaches have tried to coach the PP and they all have ended up getting the same results eventually. Especially if we have situations where they have then coached the PP elsewhere (either before or after) and had success at doing so. At some point the players have to take responsibility for their lack of productivity and lack of making anything happen. I mean, I'm pretty sure the coaches are not telling the point players to constantly shoot the puck directly into the oncoming players shinpads like they do so often or to shoot the puck directly into the goalies chest from the slot. Coaches can't force players to make good decisions on the ice, they can only teach them what they "should" be doing and to practice doing it, but the players then have to be able to carry that over into the game and actually execute it properly.
  10. Heading into the game, they were virgins insofar as winning a game...
  11. Has that ever stopped Adams before?
  12. Would be perfectly fine with them trading UPL. Give him and the team both a fresh start. Can't see Adams doing that though. BUT should Kevyn get canned, could see that being one of a new GM's 1st moves.
  13. Is that the bar? What could you get for him right now?
  14. show me.
  15. Disagree to an extent. The PLAYERS understand that stuff. The coaching staff are full on idjits. The reason the players were in non-usual spots was the Otters got a clear and then kept pressure on the Sabres outside the zone but the puck got over to Dahlin and HE will actually carry the puck in when it is there. He carried it in and he and McLeod ended up deep with Thompson and Zucker higher and Benson as the last man back. (He'd passed the puck to Dahlin on a SHORT drop pass to start the entry and then was hanging deep (actually outside outside the zone) and pinched to keep the puck in at the zone. Dahlin came into the zone with speed and they had 4 guys all moving with speed entering the zone because when the drop pass happened they were all near the red line not the opposing team's blue iine.) But THAT entry was completely against what Appert coaches and exactly what teams that are good on the PP do.
  16. Downer is a good thought but not sure you mean personality wise. UPL does seem like a pod/turd. If a team reflects the personality of its goalie, Lyon might just be what they need.
  17. Alex already handled him. Follow the plot.
  18. See if can get Trent Federick and Stuart Skinner from them. Yet it's likely a pipe dream.
  19. " He has a bad contract " One of several on this team.. Thanks KA...
  20. Much better idea than Adams... dont know if it is a better result... but much better idea ... IMO... only question is now... or do you wait for a team to have an urgent need...
  21. Jarmo Kekalainen is around the Sabres front office a lot these days. In person from what I can gleam.
  22. No one is taking UPL off our hands even if Adams wanted to trade him. No one is taking him because: 1. He is not a good goalie. He wasn’t good in the minors and except 2/3 of one season, he has been terrible in the NHL 2. He has a bad contract. No one except Adams would be paying UPL 4.6 a season 3. He has a long injury history.
  23. For now, yes. 2 of those goals allowed last night were perfect tips. He had to scramble many other times during the game, coming out with great saves. Sabres didn't even try at the start of the 3rd and it's 5-4 in a blink. UPL has been hurt and was such a downer most games last year.
  24. At this point I think him being a trade piece makes sense... he isnt your promise land goalie and so far you are getting comparable plus play our of Lyon... so roll with it... just can we please not have Adams make the trade... if we can avoid it LOL
  25. I’m perfectly happy to see how the deal works out, but let’s not kid ourselves why KA made the deal. Daddy OilBucks didn’t want to pay JJP. Adams floated the “didn’t want to be here” BS on Peterka to shift the blame to the kid. Frankly it’s despicable. This move was primarily financial. Utah is paying JJP 7.7 this season and Pegula is paying Kesselring and Doan 2.3 between them. This allowed KA to piss away 3.375 on Quinn and 1.8 on Danforth and still stay 5+ mill under the cap. Will the deal work out? Possibly, but we traded a top line forward for potentially only one year of two 3rd line (or pair) players with possible upside as both players are RFAs after the season. If they breakout Pegula probably won’t want to pay them either.
  26. Today
  27. I was outside a couple days ago around 5:30 a.m. And we had a little frost on our yard. To me that's not a complaint though, that's a positive. I'd much rather deal with 20° and 30° mornings then deal with the heat that we had this summer. Give me a cool day, give me a little snow in the winter. Honestly, I'd rather have a cloudy day than a bright Sunshine Day.
