From a revenue standpoint I will take your word for it although I dont see how... I think however we are talking about value of the franchise.. I am not sure that winning the Stanley Cup decreases the value of your franchise...

It makes me wonder if Kevyn and crew even watch the playoffs. Can’t they see why some teams are good and others are not?

Montreal and Ottawa aren’t proven pieces and I am not prepared to say they are on the verge of jumping up a tier yet. Apparently New Jersey is not much different. Neither are Columbus or Detroit Boston broke. PIttsburgh broke. The Islanders might be preparing a reset. Philly is in one. Tampa and the Rangers are declining. I have a feeling Washington just had one of those years. I think you’ve got three good teams in the East: Toronto, Florida and Carolina. It’s not about them, it’s about us. Stop making excuses. Make the right moves. Seize the opportunity.

Agree entirely. Canada is our greatest ally and has been for a long, long time. More Canadians volunteered to serve in our armed forces during the Viet Nam war than there were Americans who fled to Canada to avoid the conflict. It is beyond sickening to see Canada disrespected like this.

All NHL franchises have increased in value. He didn't do anything to accomplish that. In fact, I would go in the other direction in that if this was a Cup Contending team the value of the franchise would be even more. And it is undebatable that if this was a serious team the increase internal revenue from attendance, concessions, ancillary sources would be even more. Like you, I'm glad that he hired some high-quality business executives for the business side of the operation. On the other hand, if only he would do that for the hockey side of the business this franchise would be much more profitable for this perplexing owner. Does anyone doubt that a playoff run would add a lot of post regular season revenue?

They are probably trying to find an upgrade over their second line center. And they need a veteran stay at home RHD to replace Savard. Pretty much the same shopping list as Sabres. I honestly can't see many possibilities for us to grab a playoff spot next year when thinking of the five playoff teams from Atlantic. We need one helll of a offseason, and one helll of a season.

The business has increased in value dramatically since he bought the team. From purely a business standpoint there is little reason to change anything. Obviously that is not the case from a sports perspective. On the other hand, as others have documented, there is rational explanations for all his moves despite the lack of success. Thankfully, the hiring of some of the industry’s top business executives likely points to changes coming which is certainly welcome news to those of us who are so emotionally attached.

To the bolded, you nailed my concern. I don’t necessarily think the job is too big for him. But just because he’s already here doesn’t make him the best choice.

I would take a shot at signing Freddie Andersen and punting UPL. Andersen gets hurt but he’s a hell of a goalie when he can play. Get a couple quality defensive Dmen. Biggest thing is change up the coaching staff. Someone who excels at special teams and a D coach that can implement structure.

It’s not like hiring a cup winning coach from Pittsburgh has ever bit us in the ass before. But hey, at least it doesn’t cost a draft pick this time.

I disagree. Karmanos has a lot of front office experience between Buffalo and Pittsburgh. He's been here and helped draft most of the young guys while also knowing Rochester and Buffalo players. I don't think he would need patience as he should know the team and org well. Whether or not he would act decisively is another matter.

The other thing is that the Bills took a committee approach to catching passes last year. Looking at one single game ignores the fact that a different receiver was leading the way each week. The two guys in question were 4th and 6th on the team in total reception yards. So go pick some other game randomly and you’ll be pretty likely to see the other guys leading the way.

Kevyn’s biggest problem has always been his patience with his young group. No blockers. Unless Karmanos is going to drink from the flask of the ghost of Tim Murray, it is not going to matter. JK would just be another first timer who needs patience with his young group.
