Really curious about the relative quiet on the Byram front in terms of the team and the return. Everybody expects him gone, none of the Insiders have leaked anything on the where or the for who. Im still expecting a Reinhart-sequel return: 2 pieces roughly worth a late 1st+ an early 2nd in total value: That’s what the Sabres gave up for Montour who had a similar game at a similar career point. Montour also had a lesser pedigree and had achieved less in the NHL; so in theory Byram should return more. But we’ve learned around here to temper our expectations. Who is Mike Bundt and does he have sources beyond regurgitating the rumours we’ve all read around the internet?

This is Matt Moulson with a little more talent. The Sabres should be trying to extend him, but if they don't take a big jump this coming season, they should be looking to trade him sooner rather than later. Hopefully he can stay healthy and keep producing even if the team is bad.

I struggle to see a world where the Sabres can add 2 top 6 forwards and not trade multiple pieces this board does not want them to trade. They have neither the roster space, nor the cap space. Also, where do the UPL, Byram, Clifton and Muel upgrades come in?

I don't like those numbers and I think at the end of the deal the contract will look bad but I probably would still do it. He certainly is not a bad player and he's more complete than Skinner, you just have to look at the possibility of buying the deal out in the last 2 years or so. If that's what it takes to keep him here, it's probably a yes for me.

Based on the market across the league, Tuch today, at his age, is a $7M-$9M player. If he was 36 today, he wouldn't be worth that, but with inflation, the cap going up, etc., by the time he's 36, if he's making $7M-$9M then, it will be market for a player his age. 29 year-olds of his caliber will be making much more than that in 6-7 years. So get him signed today. He's a key player on the roster. He has size, speed, scoring touch, and is a great penalty killer. He's also a leader and a great locker room guy. He's not a fighter, but he'll drop the gloves on occasion to defend himself or a teammate. He even has playoff experience. He definitely was a guy who "wants to be in Buffalo," so let's hope that last season's failures didn't change that.

And 6MM in cap space. I also would have passed on this. Zegras is a fun concept…but has been both injured and ineffective the last two years.

He is a perfect missing piece on a stanley cup team on the verge, that is where he will go. I think he is as good as gone.

The hope is that by the trade deadline this team will be in the playoff mix. And with him on the roster the odds go up. In general, will the Sabre franchise have to pay salary premiums to entice and keep players. Yes. That shouldn’t be a surprise for a franchise with a reputation for its cartoonish operation.

Weird that Philly has taken Drysdale and Zegras from Anaheim, kind of there problem children Zegras and Mitchov have the potential to be fun to watch

What does Philadelphia have that Buffalo doesn't? Palm trees? Low taxes? Low-cost housing? (Wait, that one's us.) Hmm...must be a difference between GMs.

For Peterka, few names here are even worth while to look at. 1. I have zero interest in any trade including Toronto(spite) 2. Kesselring has 1 good season and 1 year on his contract so for Peterka, no 3. Miler is garbage, Cuylle is very possible "Fool's Gold" and Schneider alone can't fetch Peterka 4. Too old, small, and under contract 1 year 5. Cernak or Cirelli sure. 6. Andersson would likely be a rental and has fallen off as of late, Coleman has 1 great year surrounded by eh 7. Romanov is offensive, Dobson is at least interesting and Pageau is freaking cap dump 8. Rust far too old and relies on Crosby too much to trust 9. Silinger has yet to surpass 33 pts in a season and his analytics dropped off a cliff last year 10. Neighbours isn't enough, Kyrou is kind of just slightly older Peterka making 8mil and being more PP merchant like and Parayko while older would be perfect for Power's RHD 11. Mercer has 1 good year out of 3, good being relative; Nemec is too much a wildcard to trade a consistent 28 goal scorer for 12. I outright refuse anything with Ottawa, Peterka is likely to explode with Stuztle

McBain's stat line - 82 13 14 27 with 78 PIMS and is a fighter and a hitter, he is 25 Macceli stat line - 55 8 10 18 with 8 pims and basically no hits, he is 24 So Mcbain is the better offensive player, the better defensive player, the better physical player, he is basically what we are missing. And that is why Utah likely wont trade him

McBaine to me is a 3rd liner and quite honestly don't want that. At least Maccelli can product points or at least prior to being benched and moved down the depth chart last year. PS I wasn't moving JJP in my scenario just Byram and 9OA.
