We’re getting a Friday afternoon press release treatment. Sabres reorganize hockey department. The Buffalo Sabres are proud to announce a new structure for their hockey department. Kevyn Adams has been named senior vice-president of hockey operations, where he will continue to work closely with Terry Pegula as a liaison with the hockey department and have increased responsibilities for representing the team at the board of governors level. Jason Karmanos has been named general manager and will oversee the hockey department working closely with Kevyn and head coach Lindy Ruff, who has added the title of senior advisor to his portfolio. We are also pleased to announce the promotion of vice-president of hockey analytics Sam Ventura to assistant general manager, and the reassignment of Matt Ellis to the position of assistant director of pro scouting All 5 men have long, distinguished careers in hockey and are dedicated to the success of the Buffalo Sabres, on and off the ice. The Sabres have also announced the departures of Marty Wilford and Mike Bales from the team’s coaching staff. The search for new assistant coaches is underway. The team will schedule media availability next week. I will be shocked if it is significantly different.

Friedman believes changes are coming to Sabres Front Office; UPL Available?
Thorny replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
There’s something inherently more trustable about a guy with barely any posts everyone else for example has already read too much of my bullsh*t to take anything I say seriously -
Funniest damn thing I've seen in a while (sound up)

Regarding Helenius, Leone was talking to the boys on Sabres Live yesterday afternoon and he said that Konsta can play any role you ask him to play and that against the Crunch he wanted him to be a Marchand-like pest with Kozak. And he seems to be pretty good at it for such a young player in a gritty league like the A. - Today

I would say this... I wouldnt worry about them going outside the organization... that to me is highly unlikely... I think they simply do absolutely nothing... or they just juggle internally and like I said before, trot out the pig, slap some lipstick on it and call it progress... Going outside the organization and getting an experience professional with a serious track record to me is the absolute best case.. Like I dont care if they made you GM... lol... or me for that matter... anything to get out of this incestuous cesspool of cronyism and blight... ok maybe not you or I, but geez... the concept of lets promote from within the most dysfunctional sports organization I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing to me just doesnt do it... -
So, instead of taking me at my word, you're building yourself a wonderful little strawman. I never said anyone was screwing up. I never said not taking a receiver high in the draft was screwing up. Try again. You're better than that. I can't ignore something that doesn't yet exist. You can't just pretend these guys will perform, especially when they haven't wowed thus far in their career. I sure hope they do. Moore (who wasn't even on the team when this discussion started, so that makes it literally impossible to NOT "ignore the yet-to-be realized receiving yardage" by him) has had some pretty mediocre QBs and offenses, so it would be nice if he found something here with us. But it's probably more likely that he's just a bust. Third team at age 25. Invent words I never said. Complain about words I never said. Again, you're better than this.

I love(d) Gabriel's Gate. Maybe I love The Concept of The Gate? (Gates Orlando?!) I'm not sure when exactly things changed there, but the consistency with wings is just lacking. The Gate used to be my go-to for out of towners who wanted an authentic wing experience. But, like I said, "YMMV" in recent times. The vibes in there are still good. And the grub is generally solid. At the risk of derailing the thread: My current go-to for wings is Adolf's in the First Ward. I just love that joint.

As a product of the West side and Elmwood/Allen in a Gabe's Gate guy through and through. I think they run on like 1 or 2 fryers. If you haven't noticed their kitchen is basically a closet. So depending on the day they either pull early to keep up with demand or the oil has cooled. Gabe's sauce is better than Bar Bill for a traditional hot wing. But Bar Bill has a more consistent/better cook. -

Except in March and April in the NHL where he's had 8 of 10 games giving up 3 or less and 7 of 10 games giving up 2 or less. -

He's lived the dream for 4 years. They have one more (off)season to convince him to stay. If next season the same Sabres we've seen under GMKA/Pegula, then it will come down to what kind of player/person is he: Is he happy just to be here, or does he want to win the Stanley Cup?

If it's anything higher than rink manager at the Harbor Center I'll be upset. -
It's why it's so important for the owner to take "accountability" and announce publicly that winning is back on the menu and the EEE phase is over. Until that happens, yes man GMKA can say whatever he wants about how all resources are available and it's a tough job and palm trees and woe is us. If he can spend to the cap, he'd have been fired 3 years ago because they had the best winning percentage amongst the East teams vying for the Wild Card and the only money they acquired at the deadline was Greenway. They could've bulked up that entire roster to close the season. Get the confirmation from the top, in word and writing, that the goal is winning.

How would you retool this team this summer?
CallawaySabres replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Retooling is not the proper term. They need two top 6 forwards, 2 top 4 defensemen, a starting goalie, a coach, and a GM to figure out how to do it all. With Florida, Tampa and Toronto in their division, playoffs are still YEARS away without getting a ton more talent. -
That's good on the Rousek front. Having Brannstrom in the lineup should be an improvement overall for the club (if not for Komarov's development). Neuchev is definitely out. He had season-ending shoulder surgery in early March. Maybe, maybe if there's a very long Calder Cup run, but I think they said he's out next preseason.

Leone said he probably would have played if it was a must-win game. Speaking of injury, I don't think Rochester missed a beat without Komarov. Brannstrom is probably better, and Brannstrom was probably the 6th-best blueliner last night. Metsa, Rathbone and Clague look very good to me at this level. Prow is longer-term, but from what I've seen he shouldn't be a starter even if he was healthy. From what I understand, Neuchev is not going to be available.
