Contrast this with Florida.  They added Marchand.  Barkov is out, Tkachuk is out.  They are utilizing superior roster depth by playing Lundell and Bennett up one line AND they have Marchand.  They also have prospects to bring up and play in a winning environment, not in a desperate environment.   Marchand will prove to be a smart move.

Adam’s has been consistently bad at evaluating his roster and adding veteran depth.

3-1

Shouldn't the Sabres have the deepest roster depth out there in the minor leagues?  What/who have they been drafting in the top10 over the past 14 seasons or whatever.  Our minor league system should be overflowing with talent.  I don't even know what to say.  Florida has probably been trading their prospects for established NHL'ers for a few years now.

I've been a Lindy Ruff fan since he played for the team.  Loved him in his first coaching go-round.  That said, it's time.  I'd be in favor of Leone as HC and Jarmo as GM to see what they can do with the rest of the season and go from there.  While Appert had some success in Rochester and has nice hair, his college coaching record is bad.  He's been terrible as an assistant coach/power play coach.  Leone just seems to be a guy on the rise and he's in the organization already.  I don't even know what he (or his hair) looks like, but I don't care.  Give him a shot.  It can't be any worse than what's going on now and sometimes in-season coaching changes work.  Berube did extremely well in St. Louis and Kris Knoblauch did the same in Edmonton, as in-season hires.  I realize that Connor McDavid is not going to come walking through that door, but the team was on a major skid and Knoblauch came in and turned it around quickly.  Some guys just have good systems and/or relate well to players and I think Leone may be that kind of guy.

I'd easily take DeBoer or Gallant.

Justin Danforth getting more minutes than McLeod or Kulich is not what I had on my bingo card. If you cannot trust your current 2C in the defensive zone, you’re pretty cooked.

Lindy Ruff isn't good and neither is Appert or Wilford.

Lindy is happy with the energy in two periods. Guess that's the new standard, not wins

Baby steps. You can demand wins with this group of Prima Donna’s

So true but they are cheap

Gallant is in Russia, that’s not happening

Really???? Wow! I can't believe there were no takers for him in North America? Hope he's not in a "target area"! Those Ukrainian drones have a way of periodically finding their mark!

This team will be out by the end of October and if I’m Tuch. I tell them I’m testing free agency. He will have a lot of teams wanting him.

Promote Ruff to an advisor role, make our bald Finn the GM and fire the rest of the coaching staff. Hire DeBoer and let him grab whomever he wants.

Jettison Adams but why promote Ruff?   That would look awkward given the circumstances.

Move Jarmo to GM and go get DeBoer, if they even can get DeBoer.

Not me. I don't want any of the retreads that aren't good enough to have a current job despite history.

Find me someone up and coming again. I know housley kind of had that reputation but... This team needs a total blowing up and starting over and I want someone who's at least interesting... If not innovative and keeping up with League trends as a coach.

FUNNIEST thing I ever heard at a Sabres game this afternoon:

Fan 1: "Why is Justin Danforth on the Power Play?"

Fan 2: 'Everybody eats!"

I laughed so hard I cried.

Not sure I've ever watched a GM faceplant as hard as Kevyn Adams in the last 5 days. Every single thing he believed in and bet on is broken except Lyon.

I was advocating for Leone as an in-house candidate (which means it won't cost much) and a new face who I believe is on the rise, but I agree that DeBoer or Gallant are experienced coaches who have had fairly recent success in the league.  Of course, Ruff had a good season in NJ a couple of years before the Sabres hired him....

Like, Krueger? Granato?  How about a Ron Rolston type? Remember him? How did the aforementioned work out for this club? (and I'll include Phil Housley who hasn't seen another head coaching job in the league either.)

No to Jarmo, not sold on him. He had his chance with Columbus and didn’t do anything

Stop using logic.  Dahlin turned it over and the Avs scored.  Dahlin should now be traded so when he wins a Norris and a Stanley for another team we can complain about that too.

You know the script?

Looking at Episodes VII, VIII, and IX...   uh, somehow Sheevyn returned?

No, not like them at all. Well maybe a little bit like the reputation housley had.

I'm talking about finding a team that's very successful... Looking at the assistant coaches.. And not just as a fan but as somebody close to hockey... Identifying and assisting coach who is exposed to a winning culture... And who has a reputation for working well with players, being a rising star, maybe instrumental in running one of the best penalty killing or power plays.

I don't know who that is... But you have 60 to 100 assistant coaches out there to choose from. Identify one, throw some money at them.

I'm not a big fan of "old man hockey". If the team is going to fail, I'd rather have them fail looking toward what the game might be in the future, not trying to play how it was played 5 to 10 years ago.
