Sabres Trade JJ Peterka to Utah for Defenseman Michael Kesselring and Forward Josh Doan

lol, I love the sudden bad mouthing of Peterka.   I guess it’s human nature.

All this kid did was work hard and improve every year he was in the organization.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Wormtongue Adams spread the rumor JJP wanted out so he’d have an excuse not to pay him.

Remember this is the genius GM who gave out long term deals one year wonders Cozens, Samuelsson, UPL and Power and didn’t give deals to players who earned new deals like Ullmark, Reinhart, Mitts and Peterka.

The only brightside of this deal is that we have a top 4 RHD.  The fact it’s 3-4 years too late to save this sinking ship is another issue.  Can’t wait to see what his new deal will be when he gets traded because his contract demands will be to much for the incompetent Adams.

How'd that bold slip in there?

Marner is 13-14 Mil. Can't see that with Tuch needing $.

Sign Marner to a 2 year deal. There’s only one year guaranteed overlap and the cap is rising anyway. Mitch might bite at the chance to sign for 6x18 in 2027. NHL players need to start thinking like their NBA brethren.

Please people stop with the Marner talk.  He isn’t coming to Buffalo for $20 mill a year.  He wants to win and win now.  Adams and Pegula don’t believe in winning in the NHL.

I have a better idea,  how about i just confirm my initial statement without you misinterpreting it.

Eichel, ROR, Reinhart, Montour played well in Buffalo and didn't regress once they left.

Reading comprehension isn't your thing.  You cherry picked (misrepresented), instead of naming the ones that didn't perform after leaving.  I get it, you don't like being called out for your nonsense.

I would love it but just can't see him not getting a fairly long term offer from someone else.

He and his wife have a new baby. Two years is the perfect term to stay close to family.

He’s definitely going to get a long term offer, it’s just about what he thinks is in his best interest. McDavid is guaranteed to reset the market next season. Wouldn’t it be wise for Marner to cash in on that rather than wait 5 extra years?

Wouldn’t surprise me.

Dahlin must be sick of losing and losers, no matter how talented.

If the 23 yr old 4 yr vet Peterka wasn’t buying into the system and didn’t want to be a Sabre, I would like to believe the 25 yr old 7 yr vet and team Captain Dahlin would have told him goodbye and good luck after asking KA to trade him. Dahlin hasn't worn the C even a year yet. He will grow into the role and get more vocal, my bet.

Not an Adams fan, but agree with him 100%. If a player doesn’t want to be in Buffalo, move him. Think Adams made the right decision about JJP.

The Sabres need to build a roster of players who want to be here, who care about each other, play a hard game standing up for each other, and play with a passion for winning.

Whether it’s hockey or ping pong in the locker room.

The Passion for Winning Gene.

Hasn’t gotten the attention from our scouting, analytics, and front office it requires to build a Panthers-like culture, imo. Don’t believe I’ve ever heard Adams emphasize it.

Winning your shift, winning a puck battle on the boards, winning every game. A GM, Coach, or Player either has it or doesn’t.

We should definitely run with this entirely made up narrative

Dahlin kicked him out, Peterka is a bad apple, Adams was right

Jump ahead to the 10:30 mark of this podcast to hear what Craig Rivet had to say about JJ's habits. I seriously doubt Craig and Petey carry water for Adams. 🤣

Idk, I keep wondering about Dahlin and to a lesser extent Thompson. However, you're right this is a totally fake story at the moment and we shouldn't believe jjp was some locker room issue... just like Eichel and Reinhart weren't either.

Doan can probably keep #91 but Kesselring will have to change his number since #7 is retired.

#77 is available. 🤔

It’s true. The more time passes the more the sabres are always revealed to have been in the right. They just have to calm down and analyze what actually happened. The results always speak well - most of the time the fans are just too stupid to realize our GM *has* assembled another team capable of amounting to 78 points and there’s nothing to worry about

Exactly, with players like JJ, so it's time for a change.  We all like JJ offensively, after that, not much to like.  He's just not the type of player we need, especially for that kind of money.  We must move away from the soft one way players.

I don't believe any of us would have been thrilled with that contract, especially if we had to potentially pay even more.

Doesn't mean he's not a good player but our style of play must change.

Someone else said it finally lol

I can’t decide whether it’s more embarrassing or just hilarious. Like ordinarily I’d say embarrassing but like…the turn on him in real time is so shockingly brazen and barren and obvious it’s like..damn. I couldn’t even make my meme work when I said “within 24 hours we’ll love the deal”

Nope - Peterka is a bad apple within LESS than 24 hours. No attempt to hide it.

To be fair, this is not exclusive to Buffalo.

We shouldn’t be looking at JP as a bad person. He can do as he likes and even decide whether to be a Sabre or not. That said, as fans, we really overvalue our players and choose to be blind to any shortcomings. He’s not a Sabre anymore, so some objectively has come back into view. He surely can score goals, but away from Thompson, his production really suffered. And he was a liability on defense. I feel better about him leaving than I did when Rhino left. He was an excellent player for us, especially in the final year. I’m not shocked he blew up.

So you are saying the objectivity comes back once the player leaves

what does that say about the things being said about the players we brought on?

I hope you're not including me as one of the guys turning on Peterka. I dont think anyone really has other than Rivet.  I'm just saying our core isn't a party crowd, and they won't miss him as much as I would have expected after hearing this news.

Obviously, Peterka is not much different than a lot of other 23 year olds around (myself included 🤠). I honestly thought Peterka going on the cheap could have been the straw that broke Tage and Dahlin's backs. After listening to Rivet, this doesn't necessarily have to be true if they were very far apart lifestyle wise.

I think we are being bluntly objective in what Kesselring and Doan are and who they are not. There’s no candy coating here. We have hopes though. But we never drafted them, saw them grow before us, only to be tossed away. There’s no overly emotional connection to them (yet).
