Eichel on Fire; Why?

Jack Eichel has been imbued with the spirit of Mittelstadt. Did you really think the Casey magic was going to be limited to just one player?

There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?

-Death

-Taxes

-A 20/21 year old on the 30th best ES team in the league having a rough 25 game stretch before continuing to carry said team on back, somehow a top 7 ES point producer in the league despite all this

-Grumpy old men on message boards grumbling about attitude and having various other asinine takes during that 25 game stretch based on pure conjecture with no ultimate grounding in reality

Just as Jack’s game has been triggered so has your post LOL. I don’t consider myself old but glad to see him earning the money he just signed for.

Using 9-game centered moving averages ...

Shots per game went up a little initially, but have been flat since, showing no clear relationship with PPG:

Shot percentage, however, actually dropped off, but has recently gone back up:

Not surprisingly, with little change in shots (after early dip), GPG has tracked with shot%:

Interestingly, APG has also tracked with shot %:

If I had to guess (using memory and the eye test), he started shooting more on the powerplay, but that hasn't translated into more powerplay scoring.  However, his even strength shooting percent dipped, taking points with it, but has recently gone back up.  Currently, he's well above his norm (or what most players can sustain), so his production will come back down a bit.

(Note: this is, in no way, a rigorous analysis.)

Good post. Where'd you get the charts?
