It does curdle and clot up the milk a bit. But... it's definitely way more on the pickle end of the spectrum than a cucumber in a spoiled milk or... I guess the far end of the spectrum would be like cucumbers in yogurt (tzatziki). It's definitely not suited to everyone's palate. For example, I love this dish, but a very similar approach of creamy pickled herring? Completely disgusting! Quote
Derrico Posted September 2, 2023 Report Posted September 2, 2023 Just got back from the wing festival. I love me some chicken wings but man I won’t be eating another one for a lonnnnng time. Stuffed. Good times overall. Quote

Claude Balls Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 Big ass meatball from Tony D's. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 I made some baklava. Added cardamom and clove to the walnut and pistachio mix, topped with a nice syrup with rose/orange blossom twist. It came out yummy. Quote

SwampD Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Does anyone know of a good alternative to Luxardo cherries?I have found that the quality has dropped significantly lately. My current jar had syrup for a while and then it crystallized into more of a jam with cherries in it. At first, I thought it had frozen. Plus, $25 for a jar that is getting smaller and smaller is pissing me off. Quote

Not sure if this was the problem, but I mistakenly tossed mine in the refrigerator one time cleaning up and they crystallized right away. Too cold or too warm somehow? I haven’t gone this direction yet, but there are tons of homemade recipes online that seem easy enough. Quote

JustOneParade Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 (edited) @SwampD Try Fabbri Amarena cherries - come in a decorative jar. You can order them from Amazon if not available at a local store. Edited May 2 by JustOneParade 1 1 Quote

It says do not refrigerate right on it. I’ve never had this happen before. Guess I need to make another Manhattan to celebrate. Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 I’ve only had one jar do that and I thought that maybe someone who shall remain nameless (grrr…) left the lid loose. Never knew you weren’t supposed to refrigerate! I recently found a new liquor store that’s selling them for $18 a jar. I thought about backing up the truck. Got one in my Old Fashioned as we speak! 🥃 1 Quote

They’re a bit more tart, which I like for Manhattans, Old Fashions. Anything with a sweeter mix. They’re not quite as firm as Luxardo cherries tho. Probably half the price. Fun fact: In the hundreds (maybe thousands) of manhattans I have made in my life, I have put a cherry in every single one, yet eaten only one. Can’t stand them. They are fruit. I hate fruit. 😂 Edited May 3 by SwampD 1 Quote

#freejame Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Broccoli is usually my veggie of choice but today I made asparagus and they turned out pretty well. Broccoli is still better though. Quote

Then, to the charcoal with you! Edited May 3 by DarthEbriate 2 Quote
