Just saw that hit on Reinhart again on the local news. I think we were really lucky that he didn't get hurt on that because the Bruins player's shoulder connected squarely with his head. Maybe the visor softened the blow? And OF COURSE it was a Bruin delivering a hit like that.

I hate to sound positive but do we have two really good goalies on this team?
-
Did Ennis just give Marchand a concussion?

Bob couldn't have been with them before. It would make zero sense because he was part of the group that headed *towards* Terminus. If he'd been with Gareth's crew previously, you'd think he might have maybe suggested not leading his girlfriend and surrogate family into a trap laid by a group of cannibals?

If you're going to be a troll on this board, at least try to be funny or interesting with it.

I actually think this *is* the plan. Keeping them in Rochester all year means they play a lot, and they play a lot together. Carrier is the last part of that line too, and it sounds like he's doing well getting them room to work as well.

Two very pertinent names to add to this discussion. Thank you for this. <_<

The Flyers also scored a playoff goal on a puck that went through the side of the net in 2000. This thread can easily turn into an airing of grievances with the Hockey Gods..... According to this list, the Sabres are involved in three of the five most controversial goals in NHL playoff history. And on the wrong side of all of them. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1138723-nhl-5-most-controversial-goals-in-playoff-history/page/2

I'm flying home for a few days tomorrow. If I was flying home today, I'd love to go to this.

Why, thank you. That's been my take for a couple years now. Also, there's nothing "advanced" about the 100% chance of drafting either McDavid or Eichel if we finish dead last. Or the 100% chance of landing Noah Hanifin (at worst) if we finish 2nd last. As for the season ticket holders, they can vote with their dollars just like you did. If they don't like the direction of the team, i'd encourage them to save their money. Why should they go if they don't want to be there? That doesn't sound like fun.

Arguably the best farm system in hockey? Smart take. <_<

OT: Is the world series, and baseball, done as a major sport?

I'm sure someone argued that night games would damage the game too. The players will adjust just fine, and they'll have new routines. :) -
I'd be fine with it. The current system is set up to reward losing, and especially to reward tanking. That's honestly just horrible if you take a step back and think about it. No fans should ever be in the position we are currently in where you want your team to spend an entire season losing. How perverse is that? I'd like to randomize the first 14 picks. The 2016 system is a step in the right direction (first three picks are lottery).

He still completely sucks.

Great player. Great guy. Still wish he'd have let the Canes win last night though. :P
-
Me too. Tell Carolina to win a friggin' game this season and maybe it'll happen.
-
Jeremy White's McDavid updates on Twitter are really annoying and basically in the tone you describe. Our chances of landing him, at best, are 20% and that ignores the part where Carolina is on track to never win a game again.
-
Canes already down 1-0 in Vancouver tonight. I used to think I knew everything about tanking but these guys are really showing me something. And of course it had to be a douche team like Carolina.

Why? I think GMTM knows what's up. He made a few moves but nothing big enough that it would dramatically change last year's team. Plus, there's already a ton of talent in the system. I assume any plan he has involves waiting for that talent to develop and then adding to it. Not only has he had less than 12 months on the job; it's not the right time to start bringing in difference makers yet anyway. Anyways, in other news, tonight didn't go very well.

It's funny that the argument for baseball's demise is always based on TV ratings when TV ratings are becoming less and less relevant culturally. The league is more profitable than ever and MLB attendance is still near its all-time high from a few years ago. Baseball is doing just fine. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/2/10/5390172/major-league-attendance-trends-1950-2013 It's a lousy TV sport, but it has other advantages the other big sports can't match. It owns the spring and summer. It is by far the most family friendly -- both for how cheap tickets can be and for how many games there are to see all year. For whatever reason, ballparks are more highly revered than the stadiums for other sports. (There's no football equivalent to Fenway or Wrigley.) Baseball is still a big part of our culture. -
He had 34 points and was +20 as an 18 year old, roughly 5-6 years before he should hit his peak.

I stand by my gloom.

Best thing you can have are elite forwards. But if your choice is between an elite player and a good player, take the elite player. As far as I can tell, there are three elite players in this draft. The first two are generational talents and the third one is Hanifin. If we end up with the no.3 pick, we have to take Hanifin. And if we take Hanifin, we have to make other moves with Reinhart and Hanifin as the two pillars of the new team we're building. We'll need more help up front.
