Hooray for unwatchable hockey and loser points. Tonight's game made me want to stop wearing a seatbelt. -

Hope Nikita is OK after that. Hate shots to the head like that. And, yes, we absolutely need to start running everyone now. -

Tokarski looks terrible. He's out of position and fighting the puck. We should win this game. -

He usually does pretty well. Not that time though. -

Are we making a trade during the game? -
Zach Werenski making a big move all the way up to no.6 too. Barzal being back in the Top 5 is a big deal. I thought he was considered a no.2 overall pick a couple years back before Eichel emerged.
-
Totally disagree. Think an extra move ahead. It wouldn't be about just picking more guys in June 2015. If we trade Stewart and Stafford for 2015 or 2016 picks, those picks are liquid assets that we can use next summer to move up in the draft (which GMTM tried last summer) or to acquire players for 2015-2016 (when we're trying to compete again). I'd continue to stockpile picks from now through the trade deadline. Draft picks give you the most flexibility by far when you're building a team. We could use that flexibility.

I wasn't thrilled with Connor Hurley in 2013 when Santini and Bowey were around. (Or Bailey, but we ended up getting him anyway.) Hopefully it turns out I was wrong about that. I wanted Dougherty instead of Karabecek but he hasn't been too special so far this year. Hopefully passing on Barbashev at 31 doesn't burn us either.

Crap.

There's a lot of hockey left to play. Sabres could easily finish ahead of Carolina and Arizona and, assuming they don't finish ahead of anyone else (also still possible), there would still be a 55% chance they get pushed back to the fourth pick.
-
Ouch.
-
Awesome. I really want someone to emerge as a strong option for us if we draft 4th overall.
-
Obviously not. I don't think it ever has been.

Did you miss the blurb at the end about the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs being written by Oilers fans? He just cobbled together all the choice quotes from Oilers fans after this news broke to illustrate how ridiculous they were.

Look, what's done is done. The shoes are gone and they aren't coming back. Does it really matter who has them now? You deserve a new pair anyway. Plus, I'm going to be a lot more productive now that I finally have some comfortable footwear. Everyone wins.

He's 20. Let him grow into the captain role organically before we put a letter on him and start forcing things. He still has a lot of growing and learning to do.

WHAT DID YOU DO, RAY?

We finally got the return of Beth, and it was a great episode. I'm going to add her to the "Characters That Started Out Completely One-Dimensional But Became Really Interesting" list with Carol.

Third game in four days and it's an early start -- perfect opportunity for a Zadorov appearance. Hope Nolan can at least make that happen.

Trade Myers for Larkin and play Zadorov the rest of the season? -

Shots 56 to 12, Pittsburgh. Sabres inexplicably win 2-1. Mike Harrington picks fights with all the fans on Twitter. It's gonna be a long night. -
Imagine if they can keep this up and then add Reinhart, Baptiste, and Bailey for the playoffs.
-
The Stars fans who go to the games are cool but I've also met a ton of people in town who had no idea that they won a championship in the 90s.

This has already happened with the Sabres. Both Girgensons and Risto were concussed in the AHL as 18 year olds. Samson caught a shoulder in the face last night and it's a damn miracle he wasn't hurt on it. I thought he did fine in this stint but I'm glad he's on his way back to the WHL.
