    Schopp pointed out the craziest fact ever a couple weeks ago: Since Brady's first season as the Pats' QB, the Patriots have drafted more quarterbacks than the Bills have. They have arguably the best QB ever to play and they're still drafting more guys than we are. Bills should draft two quarterbacks a year (minimum) every year until they have a great one again. We will never win the Super Bowl without one.

    Soooo... do the young players you mention at the end actually hear that? Because the fans in the arena still cheer when the Sabres score. And hopefully the players aren't reading message boards. If the players don't like the draft talk, they should just start winning. No one will complain if the Sabres become a winning team again this year. I'll complain when they miss the playoffs AND miss out on a top pick, but no one will second guess the playoffs. In the meantime, I'm OK hoping we finish dead last again this year.

    And being outshot 19-4 doesn't even properly convey how lopsided that period of hockey was. Good Lord. I saw the Corsi numbers last night and double checked the -46 from Mike Harrington's Twitter feed. I'm still looking for a website that would have game stats like that as part of some sort of "super box score."

    I'm curious what you think a good game would look like when the team's Corsi number is *-46* for the game. Like maybe he could have made a couple more insane, point-blank saves against wide-open Blackhawks and we could have lost just 4-0? Enroth kept it close for 2 periods. No goalie on earth would have saved us in the 3rd period.

    It's only been five periods but I'll throw this out there: Jhonas Enroth might be the best player on the team this year.

    Enroth has been great this period. Also, some nice cleavage behind the Blackhawks bench.

    So the Sabres' Marketing Department is manipulating the rankings of best farm systems that magazines and websites are putting out? I KNEW IT!

    The only thing not to love about Risto is the concussion he suffered early last season in Rochester -- which came up again in the playoffs where they were worried he hit his head and may have had another (they eventually cleared him to go back in the game). Head injuries can negate all the talent of the best players in the world. And we had the same thing with Girgensons right after he was drafted where he had a bad concussion from a cheap shot in his first couple months in Rochester. The fact that both our first picks from the last two drafts immediately turned pro and were concussed by cheap shots early in their first seasons makes me less enthusiastic about rushing Samson to the NHL this year.

    It really wasn't. It was just random blobs of color and vertical piping. Plus it was designed when Reebok wanted future jerseys to be tucked in, and the complete lack of horizontal stripes or design at the bottom is conspicuous and odd (because the design wasn't updated after they changed course and decided not to tuck jerseys in after all).

    +1 for this thing as the default. Everyone try looking at this like you've never seen it before. THIS was our logo for a few years. Professionals worked on this for months (years?) and THIS is the best solution they could come up with! How inexplicable is that?

    Don't ever correct me again. When I get something wrong, you just take it like a man. I really hope we don't have to spend all year racing to the bottom with Edmonton and Calgary again. One of those teams should be ready to stop sucking.

    Didn't get a point until game #4. Didn't get a win until get #8. At no point last season did we have more points than anyone.

    If we can't get him, McDavid to Arizona is fine by me. He'd be all the way over in the Western Conference and he'd probably do a ton to help grow the game.

    We were literally in last place every day last season.

    Maybe an offer built around Hodgson? He replaces O'Reilly at center and he's signed for the future (although Avs might have that contract, we might have to take on a bad one of theirs to make it work).

    Being a Buffalo sports fan in the 90s aged me prematurely. :( I'm actually pretty happy. The last 8 days have been exciting. Although it's funny how so many fans can be both ecstatic about the Sabres' moves and still confident we'll finish 30th in the league. I doubt we will do that twice in a row, but I'm not convinced McDavid or Eichel is a requirement for us to be contenders in a couple years.

    Then it's settled; the only teams that will finish in the bottom 5 this year are the Sabres and Islanders.

    We basically got Tsyplakov for nothing. As much as I hated his last few years here, he made a lot of strong moves to help the team in his early years when he had no money to work with. If the Coyotes tank this year and he gets McDavid or Eichel, he'll probably look like a genius again.
