Your Venn diagram of hate fits nicely inside mine. Troof. All others are either "lazy," "streaky," or, in the case of Europeans, "have trouble adapting to the North American game."

This just in: Toronto attempting to recreate the 1955 Richard Riot, one of only four known forfeits in NHL history (Wanderers twice pre-folding in 1918, Blackhawks in 1933).

CHL race is heating up. Toronto front office has declared total war. Yotes refuse to shoot on net. Edmonton's injuring anyone who can help them get points. Buffalo's trading for players on the IR. It's anarchy out here.

At season start, they were 28th in weight, 19th in height, and 28th in age. Buffalo was 17th, 15th, and 29th, respectively. Anaheim's fat, Carolina and NYR are tied at short, New Jersey's geriatric.

Couldn't possibly be the Florida Panthers colors. Naw. Not like last year was Philly colors either. Naw. Or 2013 in NJ.

On this; it's difficult to see the difference in player usage from then until now (we don't have the tools), but the season-long player usage shows that Nolan's riding Zemgus and Gionta and Flynn with by far the hardest minutes among forwards on the team. They're playing shut down roles against hard opponents. Remember when Ruff rode Regehr like a horse into invisibility? Could be a similar thing. Could be that playing these guys hard, because they are at least perceived to be the best at that job, is keeping us from being worse than we are (if such a thing is possible). On Nolan, I need to see more clear-cut data, maybe in a non-tank situation, maybe with a non-tank roster. Most of these criticisms are lost in the noise of this fest.

Will Eichel be an immediate contributor?

(I've only skimmed this last page, but I'm seeing signs of hysterics.) An Islanders blogger clarified the CBA pretty well when Islanders fans were shitting themselves about Anders Lee a year after Justin Schultz went to Edmonton: CBA gibberish, skip it if you like: Clarification: However, this ability to go UFA as described in the clarification only applies to players that have not been signed as of four years or more since the date they were drafted. Eichel won't reach the four-years-since-drafted mark until June 2019, which will be one year after his graduation date. He couldn't escape Buffalo's rights until then. That's the part of the CBA that I bolded. So if Eichel wanted to escape Buffalo, he would graduate in 2018, and then be a holdout for one full year. That would give us plenty of time to shame him and trade him. In Schultz' case, he played a year of juniors after his draft year, then joined Wisconsin, then was eligible to escape Anaheim as a UFA by deregistering after four years has passed since the draft but before his senior year had started. This eligibility isn't met by most players and won't be met by Eichel. But there's a strong motivating factor for Eichel, who will likely have the option to go pro well before 2019, not to do this. The biggest reason why he won't do this? MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Everyone- the GM, the coach, his former coaches, NHL players, his family, his friends, and his agent especially will tell him how important it will be to start his professional career ASAP and to sign a guaranteed contract BEFORE HE SUFFERS A CAREER ENDING INJURY. While the chances of this are slim, it is the most important consideration for young athletes. Yes, it's an honor and a dream come true to be drafted. Yes, they want to live their dream of playing pro. Yes, they want to play as hard as they can to win at the pro level. Yes, they want to play toward their dream of winning the Stanley Cup. Those are the dreams. But they perceive a very real need to be compensated for the extremely risky profession they've undertaken and worked towards since their youth. Suffering a career-ending injury without compensation would be a life-altering disaster. Those are the nightmares. -
The slow motion replay of the knee-on-body is ugly. No surprise Seguin's injured.

About a month from being a father, the article detailed. everything about that. -
[besides the whole tank thing...] That's on Hodgson. If he can work his way out of whatever he's worked his way into, he takes Torry Mitchell's spot.

That was not a mistake.

I concur and happily will add: 5. Philly 6. Pittsburgh 7. Carolina 8. Dallas 9. Montreal 10. NYR And out of pity: 11. Florida 12. Columbus 13. Arizona And for legitimately challenging us in the tank, despite your years of wasting top picks: 14. Edmonton And while I'm at it, just for Dale Hunter's old ways: 15. Washington An extra one for Darcy Tucker: 16. Toronto And another extra couple for '99: 17. Dallas 18. Gary Bettman I guess that leaves only a few teams that EichDavid should end up on, but I yield the shitting on those teams to others.

Puck Daddy says GMTM's desire for Luke Richardson as coach

In any case, I'm happy to be patient with him. But that's usually how I am. It took a while for me to start shitting on Stafford too, IIRC. His Corsi QoT is supershitty right now, hopefully he can make the corrections he needs to earn his way back into top-six. -
We should consider expanding the scope of this thread to "shaving." I think a lot of you neckbeards would have some sage advice on this. And I know it's winter, but it was just Valentine's Day, so the forum women probably also have tips. Before going full beard myself more than a year ago, I used the Gillette $$$ razors. I tried rotary electric for a while (~10 years ago), but that sucked because the shaves weren't close. The upside with the $$$ razors is that my hair is fine enough to not wear them out that often. Even with full beard, I still do some touch up work with a few leftover cartridges, but if I were to shave or start shaving more, I was thinking I'd a) try out one of these shave club deals, b) try a classic Merkur-style safety razor, or c) go full badass and take me life in my own hands with a straight razor. I've got steady hands, but maybe not the patience for c).

If this is right, Eichel's NCAA career is over after this year. He'd benefit more in Rochester than BU, and that's if he doesn't wow in Sabres camp (plus nine games) to earn his big boy pants. -

Islanders to some degree as well, despite this season's success. See also: The Curious Case of Nino Niederreiter. edit: Also, I get jokes. -

Unfortunately, even if Steve's passing is concussion-linked, I don't think the NHL will do anything. -
I don't feel that strongly. I believe anyone could look terrible on this team right now. And our frustration isn't even on the same scale as his has got to be: to work so hard and see some advancement by a couple measures over a season or two, then have everything go to for basically an entire season. He's got to solve his problem, but no one seems to truly know what his problem is and he's the only one that can solve it. We've seen a lot of players like this, with something holding them back from going to the next level. Hopefully it works out.

I thought other teams would do a wait-and-see before following our hell-bent path towards righteousness Maybe we're a little more justified that our plan could work. Or maybe the Leafs are just that stupid.

Will Eichel be an immediate contributor?
IKnowPhysics replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
I believe he'll eventually be elite, but I also have an expectation that he can contribute significantly as a rookie under the right circumstances. I did some NHLe analytics a little while ago in the CHL thread (there's several posts there) that put Eichel somewheres between 57 and 73 points, assuming he sees anywhere between average and elite-worthy rookie usage, linemates, and opportunities. -
This sucks, and we're all interested in the happenstance, so let's try to keep the breaking info on this in the thread down over there somewhere.

This title's my favorite. Cause he's been playing a bit like a weiner lately.
