  1. He's undersized, doesn't skate well, but has high hockey IQ.
  2. I think he'd be good for Roch.
  3. Immediate upgrade on the bottom 6. We've talked about improving the bottom 6... well, at least I have anyway... in order for this team to take the next step, they need to cut down on shot attempts against. They need better defensive minded buys on the bottom 6 who know how to defend in their own end, block shots, take away passing lanes, generate turnovers. The existing group are top 6 leftovers from the tank years. A guy like Boyle would be perfect to offload ROR minutes on the PK, defensive zone draws, late game situational stuff, etc...
  4. mcca.. moulson
  5. huh? didn't the Vesey thing drag out until August?
  6. The more I think about it... the defense probably produces more points, but the forwards will produce less. Could see a step down in production for guys like ROR and Eichel. Everybody OK with that?
  7. me too. Johnson has some very good moments, but he's streaky... when he's bad he's an absolute sieve. Maybe just put him in for shootouts.... it's just a matter of time before some goalies become strictly shootout specialists.... That's all they practice.. .kind of like a closer in baseball.
  8. I misunderestimated you. Hourly pay would be a great motivator.
  9. Quick's style of play takes a toll on him physically. He'll have a short career, one filled with injuries in the later half. I'll say it again, Petersen is a career minor leaguer, he doesn't have the size/skill to compete at the NHL level. Jack Campbell will be Quick's backup. And don't they have to wait until mid-August to sign him? How can they announce this while he's still Sabre's property? Isn't that considered tampering?
  10. The one thing I miss is HCDB saying "Robin Lehnerd".
  11. 4 year bridge at $5.5m per. Keeps him motivated. He's a minus player with injury concerns. Let him continue to grow, learn the game and piss him off so he jumps ship first chance he gets.
  12. He lacks the required offensive panache for Dr. Phil's system.
  13. Playing matters. I think collectively as a group they can play better, but to say any single guy is going to suddenly rise from the asshes because of Dr. Phil... is just wishful thinking. Maybe in some other universe, not this one. The college education in and of itself isn't as important as what it represents.
  14. Oct 17 at Las Vegas? Perfect!
  15. I don't think a new coach will improve the play of Bogosian... or anybody for that matter. I picked Ennis because I'm hoping he's turned the corner and we'll see the Ennis of a few years back.
  16. I said it a while back, Matt Cullen would be a nice fit... an upgrade over Gionta IMO.
  17. There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.
  18. He had 60 games in the Q, and 60 in the AHL after being drafted. There was plenty of opportunity for him to develop. His problem is slow feet, he's simply not compatible with the modern NHL.
  19. The Q is dust.
  20. sorry, wrong universe.
  21. Depth defender is a guy on the farm available for spot duty as an injury call-up, etc... At this point Fedun is in the mix to earn a fulltime spot on the big club out of camp.
  22. we need a thread for this
  23. we'll we'd all like him to be a depth defender... right now he's a bubble boy in the mix with Antipin and Falk.
