He also said he hasn't done anything yet, so he has a lot to prove. He certainly has a healthy belief in his abilities, but he also recognizes he hasn't accomplished anything yet. That said, if we're one year from today and he's still not signed, then I'll worry.

Training camp questions #6: who is ready to be a regular?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Well, JBOT has been preaching development and by development he means winning in Rochester. None of those guys have really done anything in Rochester to this point. Give them a season down there to grow together and build something, learn how to play the way Housley envisions and in a winning environment. Don't put the cart before the horse. He won't. He'll feel compelled to keep him in the lineup because of his goal scoring. They're still too young to write off IMO. Danny Briere bounced around in the minors for 5 years or so before he established himself in the NHL. -
Well now we're just beating a dead Eiche... I mean horse.

Makes sense for both sides. Eichel wants to prove his worth. JBOT wants to see him play up to the level he's asking to get paid.

Training camp questions #6: who is ready to be a regular?

IMO they go with a veteran squad and put all the young guys in Roch (Bailey, Nylander, Fasching, Baptiste, Guhle, etc..). -
A few more days left to sign up.

Trading camp questions #5: How good is Sam Reinhart?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
He is what he is. What is he? He's what he is. He does what he does, the way he's always done it, the why he's always gonna do it. He's always done what he does. -
Training camp questions #3: What happens to the power play?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
if it ain't broke.. -
11 would be a mistake and set this team back IMO. 9.5 is fair. He has to understand the less he makes the more they can spend on other guys to build a contender.

I love Wennberg, he deserves that deal... after 6 years he's an UFA tho.

Training camp questions #2: What do we have in Zemgus Girgensons?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
What you need on Eichel's wing is a finisher, a guy like Jeff Carter would be ideal, but there's only one Jeff Carter.... Pastrnak would be nice, Hossa, Cam Neely, Kevin Stevens, Mogilny, Kurri, Selanne, ... those types of guys. I'd try Okposo there to start, but they just don't have that guy in the organization yet. -
What if he absolutely blows up the league and earns an extra $1-3mil/yr; over the course of 8 years that's a significant amount. I see no reason for him to rush into signing a deal this offseason.

Training camp questions #2: What do we have in Zemgus Girgensons?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Girgensons doesn't belong in the NHL IMO. Name one thing he does particularly well... he's below average across the board in all facets of today's game. He would be a quality AHL player, I expect him to either get waived or traded by the time this team sniffs the playoffs. -
Artemi Panarin Cam Atkinson Rikard Rakell Dany Heatley Milan Hejduk Corey Perry Logan Couture Joe Pavelski

Training camp questions: #1 Is Scandella a first-pairing defenceman?
pi2000 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
It's a step in the right direction. The hope is that a few of these guys develop into legit top 4 guys, otherwise the search will continue. They need a stud #1 guy, right now Risto is the closest they have to that, but he's not a top 25 defenseman in the league at this stage of his career. -

I'm not very high on Mahomes, seems like he panics too much under pressure, but he has some good tools. Kizer is far from polished, but I really like his demeanor... reminds me of Russel Wilson. He's confident but understands his limitations, seems to have that "it" factor IMO. That said, I don't think he should be starting this season, could set him back.... but CLE does have a very good OL, so we'll see.

Correct. Rudolph has size, big arm, works smoothly through his progressions and exhibits exceptional pocket awareness and escapability. He's accurate on deep throws but has a tendency to over stride on some shorter throws, which hurts his accuracy.... something to watch for tonight, to see if he shows some improvement in that area.

IMO Trubisky and Kizer will be the best of the group.
