Whose idea was the tank and whose decision was it?
pi2000 replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
For everybody complaining about the tank.... you should thank your lucky stars BUF didn't beat ARI in OT on that fateful day 3 years ago. If they did, BUF ends up with Strome and ARI gets Eichel. Tank on. -
I don't think Bailey is a good fit. Eichel needs a finisher who can find the soft spots and position himself for scoring chances.... somebody like a Carter or Tarasenko. There just isn't anybody like that in the organization.

Where do the private workouts occur?

wow Johansson looks terrible, that goal from center ice.... wow

HOusley's replacement? Might entice Casey to sign... great idea? or greatest idea?

Forwards Next Year - Status Quo or Major Overhaul?
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I'm afraid Okposo could be the next Moulson. He's been downright awful, not just because he's not scoring, but he's a huge liability defensively.... his TR+/- is off the charts bad at -14. On a bad team that means he's an anchor... he's a huge part of the problem. -
They made up some excuse about Lehner needing a maintenance day as he's banged up a bit. Just waive him already, he's not in this team's future. That said, I don't think their goalie of the future is in the organization yet.
-
So they both go to the box, and they're both on the power play.

Scandella has an eye popping Team Relative +/- of roughly +20. In general, Team Relative +/- is based on the expected +/- of each player based on the % of minutes played and total team goal differential (at even strength). For the amount of minutes Scandella has played and the large negative team goal differential, he's expected to have a +/- of around -20.... but.... he's at 0. So his Team Relative +/- is +20... he's not the reason this team sucks. A Team Relative +/- of 0, on a bad team, means you're part of the problem. Other Sabre's Team Relative +/-... (based on total goal differential, not even strength) Okposo -14 Larsson -7 Beaulieu -7 Risto +9 O'Reilly +10 McDavid +26 Matthews +17 Eichel +1

wow. good thing BUF traded him.

I disagree. With the right mindset, he can improve his mechanics which will improve his accuracy... but again, does he recognize this? Can he give an honest assessment of his strengths and weaknesses, does he have the discipline to painstakingly work on his flaws when nobody is watching? Is he a perfectionist? Or is he satisfied with where his game is at? Is his goal to make the NFL or to win a Super Bowl? I'd love to interview these kids, so much more to being a successful NFL QB than just size, college stats and arm strength.

Different result with Ullmark?
-
I never said he has the right mindset, perhaps he doesn't.
-
I've seen a lot of top QB prospects play high school ball out here (CIF South). Darnold is head and shoulders above all of them. He's got that "it" factor.
-
With the right mindset he can improve. How has Darnold failed expectations? Trust me on Mayfield, he's going to get eaten alive in the NFL.
-
I'm not sold on the idea that McCarron is a better QB than Taylor. Darnold - He's the real deal IMO. Watched him play a bunch of games for San Clemente High and he was absolutely unreal... intangibles off the charts. Down to earth, honest, realistic. Great mindset to be successful in the NFL. Couldn't help but wishfully think he might be a Bill someday. Mayfield - Nope. I don't believe his mind is in the right place to find consistent success at the next level. Rosen - Hard pass. Too fragile. Allen - Not sure about him. HIs stats aren't great, but that arm and that size... wow. Would need to sit down face to face and have an extensive interview to find what makes him tick, how self-motivated and disciplined he is. Is he humble, is he his own worst critic?
-
He's on a 1-way deal, where he plays doesn't matter.
-
Why is Ullmark here? Roch plays Thur/Fri/Sun.
-
He's coming into his own, love his game lately. He needs to play with other guys who can keep up tho.
-
Is McCarron better than Taylor?

if they win a Cup with Eichel, it was a success
