  1. Two off the grid nominees: G Mika Noronen: Remember he was going to be the next great goalie? Then he was traded for a 2nd rounder I believe F Erik Rasmussen: 8th overall pick perhaps, I considered him a big disappointment in terms if production
  2. A few years ago. Montreal acquired Scott Gomez from the NY Rangers and in that deal the Rangers that included D Ryan McDonagh who could be a perennial Norris candidate for the foreseeable future. What a TERRIBLE move by the Habs
  3. I agree with a lot of points in this thread. The best way to categorize the Regier era in Buffalo is simply mixed reviews. Some good moments, some horrible moments. Regier was a subpar drafter when you look at it in totality, he actually was a decent trader though (Briere for Gratton, the Drury trade, getting a 1st for Goose, and the Vanek to Islanders hoist just to name a few)..so I'll give him some credit there. At least he didn't leave the cupboard completely bare on the way out the door. What else cost the Sabres a playoff spot one of those years I believe was this fascination with Patrick Lalime as a backup, he was ATROCIOUS....how come a move wasn't made there? Who really knows...it's water under the bridge... And as for Tim Murray, so far i really like his style, but let's not give him the keys to the city yet...
  4. As per Kevin Weeks tweet: Kevin Weekes ‏@KevinWeekes 36m Breaking : Expect an announcement within next 24-48 hrs on @BuffaloSabres multi yr contract with Tyler Ennis.@NHL @NHLNetwork.
  5. Thank you Taro and Eleven for clarifying, I do like Ehrhoff as a player but because of this and when you are blowing up the roster I say go all the way
  6. I want to clarify something: The Sabres will definitely have a 10M cap hit in 2020 now or because the Sabres bought him out, the Sabres avoid that 10M hit in 2020?
  7. Sam Bennett will be the choice for Buffalo, based on what Tim Murray appears to want in a player. As for next year, deal with it then, no need to chase Eichel or McDavid, way too far down the line to even speculate this. It will not take 3-5 years to get the Sabres back in the playoffs. Colorado rebounded quickly, so did Montreal. It can be done.
  8. Based off of this, me thinks the Sabres are going to draft Bennett, just a hunch but we all know how that can change
  9. Bottom line for me is this: The Red Wings have been a mark of consistency and elite play for a very long time in the NHL (not so much lately but they are still good) I don't recall them having high draft picks to build with to build the team they had, and as well use FA to their advantage when need be. Tim Murray needs to draft well, regardless of where he picks, and Pegula needs to spend the right way when needed. #1 picks don't guarantee anything. Just ask Edmonton.
  10. Miller will be dealt over the weekend IMO
  11. Yeah he didn't say it was definite but the way he said it and even if it was his opinion he seemed pretty confident that this was going to be the case
  12. Was listening to XM Radio this morning and Arthur Staple from New York Newsday (NY Islanders Beat Writer) stated that the Islanders will keep their 1st round pick for 2014 and push the 1st rounder to Buffalo till 2015. Not sure if this was mentioned already but figured I would pass it along.
  13. I agree. I wouldn't just give Ehrhoff away. I do agree though with inkman: He is not a #1 dman. Because of Ehrhoff's decent cap hit and actual low $ owed, he will be a very attractive option for teams, especially teams that need defense that always need to stay just above the salary floor, because his 4M cap hit will help that, but they don't have to pay out 4M in hard cash.
  14. So if the USA wins, who would we play after that? Is it Canada or would the USA avoid Canada until the Gold Medal game if we get there?
  15. If the Sabres do not make a move before 3PM EST tomorrow I wouldn't fret too much: We all know the trade deadline game, it always heats up more towards the end
  16. Ah, I remember something about that but it wasn't clear...I sure hope we get to keep it for 2014!
  17. Sorry to be a little lazy here as I have not gone through this entire thread: The 1st round pick the Sabres got from the NY Islanders: The Islanders have the option to keep this pick and then the Sabres get their 2015 1st round pick automatically, is this accurate? Thanks in advance
