From what I heard on WGR from Dreger yesterday, apparently teams didn't want to give up a RHD for Byrum since they were acquiring a D, they didn't want to basically tread water there. Caused multiple teams to drop out. He said now that they got their RHD for Peterka, the teams that dropped out over not wanting to give up a RHD have jumped back in the mix...said now there are 7-8 teams very interested instead of only 3-4. Thinks the move was done because they realized the overall value they would be able to get back would be higher trading Peterka for a RHD and then asking for a forward back for Byrum.

I view this as part of a double trade with Byrum. Perhaps they felt by acquiring the RHD for Peterka, they could get something more valuable for Byrum which means the overall value of the combined haul they get would be better. I don't think we can look at this trade in a vacuum.

Here are some pertinent details of the agreement, according to both league and union sources: The NHL will move to 84-game regular seasons beginning in 2026-27. Signing rights to draft picks will be uniform across the board until age 22, regardless of the league prospects are picked from or which league they matriculate to next. In other words, if an 18-year-old CHL player is drafted but decided to play NCAA, a team will still hold his rights for four years. Outlawing of player deferred salary in contracts, which previously lowered the cap hit of deals. This is one example of significantly more stringent contractual limitations that are expected to be in the new CBA for players. One example of a new limitation: Signing bonuses will be capped at 60 percent. Previously, players could negotiate to earn everything but the league minimum salary on their contract to be paid as signing bonus for both tax and investment benefits, as well as making it essentially buyout proof. Now, if you have a $10 million cap hit, the maximum paid in signing bonus will be $6 million. Landmark player benefit improvements (health insurance and post-playing health insurance stipends), plus movement of player payroll taxes and worker’s compensation premiums to be paid out of owner’s share. I would say C. It's hard for me to picture a Buffalo team other than the Bandits winning anything until they actually do it. Bills have one of the most talented QBs to ever play the game and someone that plays at an extremely high level in the playoffs and they haven't even been able to get to a Super Bowl yet, let alone win one mostly thanks to the defense that turns into a giant sieve against Kansas City when it counts every year. Josh Allen is not only one of the most talented QBs to ever play, but on top of that he is THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PLAYER IN NFL HISTORY on a per game basis in BOTH the regular and post season. It's hard not to be able to get it done with that player on your team, but the Bills have figured out a way not to.

When you have the talent to succeed but continuously make excuses and have no accountability eventually you end up having to look in the mirror. You can blame everyone else, but at the end of the day, they are the ones on the ice not getting it done. In life you can either make excuses or get results, never both. All the players on this team have done is make excuses.

Maybe instead of looking for anyone else to blame and trying to leave these players should take a good hard look in the mirror and realize that they are the problem collectively and that they have the ability to provide the answers as well.

He was a perfect bottom 6 player for us and one that we spent many years trying to replace.

Evan Rodrigues wasn't good enough to be on terrible Sabre teams but somehow has been good enough to play on multiple playoff teams that have made deep runs and won a Stanley Cup last year with the Panthers(and on the cusp of another one this year). Also has 30 points in his last 43 playoff games over the past 2 years, so he shows up in the playoffs. Sabres love getting rid of players that go on to win Stanley Cups elsewhere. It's really almost unfathomable how many times this happens.

Yeah hardly...I moved out at 18 when I went to college and have been on my own since, well with my wife and family for the past 20+ years technically. And I am definitely a physical specimen. Don't see many guys at age 50 walking around with abs looking like a linebacker. Darien Lake water park days are always fun. 😏 Sabres have had nothing for 14 years now. Maybe one day...
