  1. Yes, but if you're minimizing his ability to score goals and not even playing him on PP1.. wouldn't it be better to just have someone who may score a little bit less but not be such a defensive liability (and maybe even chip in more assists)? That way you don't have to saddle the fourth line with dead weight and have a line you can constantly throw out there in defensive zone starts and not have to worry about VO?
  2. If you are going to hide him on the fourth line AND he isn't likely to get PP1 minutes, what's the point of even having him?
  3. I don't often have strong negative opinions of players, but I just don't believe Olofsson is the answer for the Sabres. I understand the reasoning behind potentially keeping him, but I'm still hoping he is traded prior to the season. I would prefer giving almost anyone that can play some defense a shot at Quinn's position, including many of the current Rochester players.
  4. Pretty awesome for the area, there's definitely some local talent that will benefit from this. Related: Rochesterian was just drafted by the Bruins (Ryan Walsh, 6th round). Had a pretty good USHL year last year and going to play for Cornell next. https://www.thegazette.com/minor-league-sports/ryan-walsh-gets-more-than-he-expected/
  5. Couldn't be more excited about ZB after watching the dev camp 3v3 tournament. He was by far the best player on the ice during the tournament. His play just jumped off the screen and you could tell every time he was in because he was directly impacting the game (do keep in mind we were missing several recent 1st round picks at dev camp, but I highly doubt they would have looked better than he did). ZB is going to be a gamer for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the Sabres before Savoie. The best way to describe him IMO is relentless. He is relentless in hounding the puck and pressuring the D with his puck handling/passing. This guy is going to be good.
  6. standouts for me: Benson: active stick, persistent on defense forcing turnovers, electric with puck. not fast, but definitely quick Ratzlaff: kept Martin in games, despite them getting outplayed elsewhere Novikov: size jumps out at you. you wouldnt expect him to be super effective in 3v3, but he played surprisingly well. even scored a few pinching in Kisakov/richard: kisa seemed to be in the right place at the time on offense a bunch of times. richard had a bunch of chances and buried a few neuchev, marjala, and jrb: along with benson, team robert kept possession a large part of the time. they were all very effective passers/puck carriers couple other players that i thought played well: mccarthy had his moments, other savoie looked good, ryan johnson seemed to get into the flow in the final, constantini had a couple nice rips
  7. Martin vs Robert final: Marjala appeared to have a goal off feed from benson. confusion about whether it was a goal Richard fans on nice pass from Johnson Novikov goal. 2-0 robert neuchev great goal sticking w/ it after initial save 3-0 constantini nice rip 3-1 robert, feed from miedema. benson back the other way, feeds it, save kisakov feed to johnson. 3-2 robert constantini nice burst of speed, save nice save by robert goalie on richard. neuchev scores 4-2 constantini another rip. 4-3 marjala to JRB? 5-3 robert richard rips it after martin pulls goalie. 5-4 robert. robert wins. really fun final
  8. Martin v Robert. semi final Nice pass neuchev to novikov. stop by ratz marjala slick move putting it through defenders legs, stop by ratz anton wahlberg goal, 1-0 martin marjala evens, 1-1 benson incredible play, jrb scores 2-1 benson eng 3-1. benson stood out for sure. great defense/hustle and looked electric w/ puck
  9. Robert vs Perrault: Robert dominating possession again. Kisakov scores first goal on 2 on 0, Perreault 1-0 Novikov scores another goal for Robert. 1-1. Kisakov cleans up another on an empty net. 2-1 Perrault Lawson Sherk with a great shot top corner 3-1 Perrault
  10. He really jumped off the screen when he had the puck. Didn't make any huge plays, but he did have the puck quite a bit. Robert had the puck probably like 60-70% of the time. Also, his stick was pretty active. You can tell that he has some defensive chops
  11. 2-0 Martin. McCarthy/Karlson goals. Robert seems to be dominating possession but not scoring 2-1 Novikov scores. good cut to the net 2-2. JRB scores. Ratzlaff keeping Martin in it 3-2 JRB scores again on a nifty move with less than 30s
  12. 2-2. 2x Richard goals for Perreault. I missed who scores the second Martin goal, it was a last second goal to tie with their goalie out. Shootout. Sardarian ends it in the shootout with what I believe was the first goal?
  13. both Murray and Weissbach got qualifying offers: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/sabres-extend-qualifying-offers-brett-murray-linus-weissbach-restricted-free-agents/c-345150726 Possible temporary insertions into the lineup while Quinn is out?
  14. I was going to type out something similar. Kudos. Plenty of other young guys all growing into their body and (hopefully) becoming more defensively responsible. Add to that (hopefully) improved goaltending all year from a more nhl adjusted Levi, I think they will be fine. It is a huge blow like dudacek points out, but they still ought to be a playoff team from just internal improvement I am wondering if we see murray/weissbach get a shot on the sabres because of this injury. Wouldn't be surprised. Murray looked like he belonged when he played up 2 years ago for those 20ish games. I was surprised when he eventually got sent back down. And weissbach has always kind of jumped off the screen to me whenever i see him play. Supposedly he has added a little bit of rat to his game, could be interesting to see what he could do. They are rfas I believe?
  15. Sounds like a good pick, especially if he is as good defensively as that guy on Twitter says he is. Best defensive forward in the draft, but insane offensive talent to boot? Yes please
  16. First year two way. Second year one way. Sounds like they plan on him definitely being on the team next year. Maybe planning on intentionally bringing him up with kulich (the two czechs) in the same year?
  17. Maybe the amerks run will sway Johnson towards joining? See it as a good place to launch his career?
  18. pretty good showing from peterka imo
  19. just a preview of things to come with woll. 8 goals, ftl 😄
  20. Was a nice snipe, love to see it
