  1. Borgen is having a tough night at a bad time for it.
  2. I can give you the long answer via NSFW Reddit/YouTube link or the short answer: a hot dog. It’s a Coney Island thing.
  3. That’s cool. He was having a little “fun” with Sabres fans on twitter in the past. Quote: “In 2011, he switched his avatar to a photograph of him holding a replica Stanley Cup and wearing a "Brett Hull is a Cheater" shirt.” Then there was the “Happy halloween to all my friends in Buffalo!" tweet with his pumpkin carving of the No Goal sequence. I am not trying to change your mind, but try to explain why people outside of your region might not agree.
  4. I’ve been looking around for this, but can’t find it anywhere. Where did you see it?
  5. Balls!
  6. Brett Hull has been wiping Sabres faces in it since then. It’s cool you have a softer spot for the local team. I don’t think Buffalo (by and large) agrees with you.
  7. After ‘99, there’s just no way I can get there. To me, the Panthers are the lesser of two evils.
  8. I went to the PGA in 2013 having played five rounds of golf in my life. If you’re a beer guy, that thing can be fun. Great shots/birdie puts are a party. Golf fans are passionate (being a hockey fan, passionate about your sport is understandable). 1) I was over-served and 2) I had a ball. As for ROC on Wednesday, all of the following are walkable from the arena’s front door: 1)Dinosaur BBQ is the traditional pre-game spot, but it’s a restaurant first (and cramped at the bar). 2) Exchange Sports Bar—kinda sterile and meh. Lots of TVs. Nothing special. 3) Mythology Restaurant & Lounge—my pick if you get there early and sit at the bar. They are kind of like the new place that gets surprised that they’re busy. Some outdoor seating (but weather doesn’t look ideal). Decent spot that might get crowded just because it’s a sell-out crowd. I would like to join, but I’ll have a 12 year old with me for the game. Enjoy! Definitely eat before entry because concessions will not be prepared for the number in attendance.
  9. Has that been confirmed?
  10. Just picked up tix for game three in ROC on Wednesday. It is trending toward a sellout. Thinking of dinner at the Lilac Fest and some playoff hockey that night!
  11. Bard is Google’s AI bot. It is just a novelty to me. My first question was why do the Leafs always fail in the playoffs? “There are a number of reasons why the Toronto Maple Leafs have consistently failed to win a playoff series in recent years. Some of the most common reasons cited include: Inadequate goaltending: The Leafs have had a revolving door in net for many years, and have never been able to find a reliable starting goaltender who can carry them through the playoffs. Inability to close out games: The Leafs have a long history of blowing leads and losing close games, both in the regular season and the playoffs. Mental toughness: The Leafs have been accused of lacking mental toughness in the playoffs, and have often crumbled under pressure. Poor playoff coaching: The Leafs have had a number of different coaches over the years, but none of them have been able to get the team over the hump in the playoffs. Bad luck: Sometimes, it's just a matter of bad luck. The Leafs have been on the wrong end of some bad bounces and calls in the playoffs, which has cost them games. It's important to note that these are just some of the reasons why the Leafs have failed to win a playoff series in recent years. There are likely other factors that contribute to the team's struggles in the postseason. Whatever the reasons, it's clear that the Leafs need to make some changes if they want to end their playoff drought and bring a Stanley Cup back to Toronto.” My second inquiry was for Bart to write me a poem about cosmic nipples. “Cosmic Nipples Two great orbs of light, So large and round and bright, Hanging in the vastness of space, A cosmic embrace. Their glow is warm and inviting, A beacon of hope in the night, A reminder that we are not alone, That we are part of something greater. They are the source of all life, The giver of all light, The mother of all creation, The cosmic nipple.” While I am at the phase of “ask Siri a dirty question” with AI, it’s pretty wild how I got these responses in less than two seconds. Feel free to amuse yourself and reply to the post with any fun AI replies. https://bard.google.com
  12. Why is it NHL suicide but not NFL suicide?
  13. I am bummed that there’s only five 1pm games (my fav slot), of which three are in elite fall weather (which limits weekend-long trips because I’m going to watch no matter what). The Sunday 1pm has been a tradition in my house for a long time. What I do find interesting is there are two 4pm home games this year…that could be fun if I can find my way to Orchard Park. That 4pm slot home game is a foreign concept the last two decades.
  14. And the Amerks hold on for the game one win!
  15. It’s a 4-3 game with three and a half minutes to go. Hang on boys!
  16. Yes, I THINK they can sign an ATO during the postseason. The Crunch did it last year on May 9th. https://everettsilvertips.com/article/ahl-call-up-niko-huuhtanen-signs-ato-with-syracuse-crunch-for-2022-calder-cup-playoffs I believe since their ELC won’t kick in until next year at the earliest, this is allowed.
  17. That was something! The Americans were dominated in the third, but a Brian Campbell Memorial created a PP for Pilut’s winner. Crunch fans were gracious and ROC fans were all over the building. The Amerks aren’t elite, but they have a shot to beat Toronto. Subban was good tonight. If he repeats tonight’s peformance, Rochester can win the next round.
  18. AHL tv is $9 for the game. https://www.watchtheahl.com They’ve played each other 16 times this year. Eight wins and eight losses each. From the Amerks site: The Amerks avoided elimination again on Sunday in Game 4 on the strength of Malcolm Subban’s first career postseason shutout, the first by an Amerks netminder in the Calder Cup Playoffs since Ryan Miller blanked Hamilton in Game 1 of the opening round series on May 5, 2004. Rochester enters tonight with a 46-22 record all-time in series clinching-scenarios and a 30-41 mark when on the brink of elimination. The Amerks are also 11-6 in winner-take-all contests, including 5-2 on the road. No AHL team has won a best-of-five series when trailing 2-0 since 2015 (Grand Rapids); it has only happened 11 times in league history. The Amerks have reversed swept two opponents when trailing 3-0 or 2-0 (1960 & 1967). The Amerks have posted a winning streak of at least two games 34 times in team history to win a series. In 21 of the 34 series, the club has recorded a three-game streak or more with the most recent coming back in 2004. I’ll be at Kitty Hoynes pregaming and in the building for the game. Hopefully we get the reincarnation of Norm Milley sending the Cuse home sad! https://theahl.com/milley-crunches-syracuses-hopes
  19. New Riff Rye Whiskey. Their tag line is a new riff on an old tradition. I think it’s exceptional.
  20. I accept this. Anything to keep the Cup out of Canada!
  21. I would be pleasantly surprised if KA were able to make some magic via trade with someone age appropriate (and ideally with term) to add to the D corps. I’m skeptical anything will get done because goals are on the rise league-wide and Top 4 D are incredibly valuable (see Risto trade fetching so much). I think at a minimum, a first round pick out the door is a given. If I’m KA, I’m making that deal. Hopefully the pick is the bottom third of the draft and this team needs defensive depth now.
