I do think he has the talent to stay with the team, but he needs to go back down and add some muscle and weight. Skill is there but the body is not.

Ok, another Thoughts and Observations: Greenway is playing well above expectations!! Quick, physical, backchecks full speed. Definitely Impressed. Love Benson, but starting to think he should be sent back. He needs to get stronger!! He is definitely good enough to stay, but maybe being patient with him the best bet. Levi made some beautiful saves but was definitely struggling as well. 2 of those goals against should not have been, and the once called no goal was definitely a goal! LOL We looked like boys playing against men from the starting drop of the puck. Not sure what the hell is going on, but this team still cannot handle a heavy forecheck and folds like an old deck of cards PK actually looks really good!!! Our team looked disinterested at times. The speed of snail coming back to our defensive zone was abhorrent!! Calgary came to play, Buffalo did not get the memo. Still going to wait for the 10 games, but it is not looking good for the boys of Blue and Gold (Or Red and black). Detroit and Ottawa are playing well, while we are still trying to get out of preseason mode. Glad i cannot watch on Saturday, as this team is already getting frustrating to watch.

Some thoughts and observations from last night and comments on some of the posts i see: - Defense played very well last night. Not having Muel at the end definitely hurt with the tying goal. Both TB goals were flukish. Clifton had a great game! - Offense needs to stop being so pretty and just shoot!!! Too much passing and delays causes blocked shots. That should right itself. - Levi looked great!!! Finally some steadiness in the net! - Same problem crept in of the Sabres being on their heels. You almost knew TB was going to tie that game. Team needs to stop taking foot off of the gas! But to put it in perspective, NYR, TB are better than the Sabres right now, and the Isles i believe are about the same as the Sabres. As the maturity comes we will surpass. Not going to flip out on this team as they are still settling into the season. Will be more critical if we are not doing well by game 10. Until then i see a Sabres team playing better every game and the defense and goalie settling in nicely.

I am super stoked for this season!!! I am still not fully bought in on the netminding and defense part. I think our offense is stacked and has some serious depth, but on the PK and playing defense in front of our own minder still scares the ***** out of me!! I can see a blowout either way as we do not know how they are going to play. Love to see the boys in blue and gold finally get it together and bring it this season!!! The biggest tell will be when we play the heavy forecheck team, how we react!! Hoping to be able to watch the game tonight as still no MSG in my area! Fingers crossed for the location changer on my phone!!! LOL GO SABRES!!!!

I will wait and hold judgement until after the first 10 games. Pre season is hard to judge. Our young kid dmen that went to Rochester looked great against NHL lines, but our starters looked slow, like they were just trying not to get hurt. We were not that physical defense wise, but again, it was preseason. With the exception of 6K the goalies looked ok, but again, it is preseason. Are there concerns? Uhhhh yeah! Until we show consistent defensive and PK good play, i will wonder. Our Preseason was almost 90% to see the kids play, not the regulars (which really showed during the Pitt game).

Some quick thoughts on last nights game. It really looked like they were just playing to stretch the legs and not get hurt. Not putting much effort into skating, checking, and or fighting for the puck. Benson looks like he belongs in the NHL, Plain and simple. UPL does not get much defensive support when he plays, but he did not help himself. Johnson looks NHL ready as well, but believe he should be top pairing in Rochester, until an injury happens. Loved watching Dahlin and Power play together. I did not think the Columbus did though! LOL They wrecked offensive havok when they were on the ice together. Was fun to watch! Other than Johnson and Benson, the rest of the kids need to get sent back and the Regulars need to play together the final game. Lets get the rust out and get ready to beat the Rags (Which i wont be able to see, FU Xfinity!) next week.

As long as ESPN + is still good to go i am happy! MSG and xfinity still fighting after 2 years of no Devils, Rangers and Isles games. Which means, i cannot watch the home opener against the Rags! Greedy damn companies!!! I am already paying 270 a month for cable and internet!!! WTH!!

I am in NJ market, so no Bills game for me. Not sure if the Sabres are going to be on the web or not.

It is only one game and like i said in the football side: - It is only one game and was lost basically by one player, Allen - The Sabres season is close to starting!!! (More hockey than football fan!) - Allen still makes rookie mistakes! Throw to the OPEN player, and stop trying to be a hero. Also, enough of the happy feet!!! The pocket was actually holding and he would start to run! - Zero faith on OC Dorsey, Zero Again, one game and the best news is that hockey is almost here!!!! 🙂

Wow, a legend passes. Being a day 1 fan, he is the only non player name that 100% associates with the Sabres. I never ever thought a day would come when i did not hear his voice on a Sabre broadcast and was always hoping he would call a Sabres Stanley Cup win. To the Biggest Sabres legend, may you rest in peace! You will fondly be remembered by millions!

Wow, just saw an ESPN article that everyone did not pick the Bills to win the division. Have we honestly been overtaken that quickly? This could be a long season for us. Horrible schedule, and same defensive first kind of plan. I hope a lot of the games are not televised in Jersey!! I cannot afford to destroy more cell phones! LOL

Those forwards would get killed defensively. Also not much grit in the forward lines. Missing quite a few players as well.

So this is not great news, but it is not devastation either. I believe we have more then enough scoring depth to cover this until he is 100% healthy. Savoie maybe?? They can use his 9 game tryout. We have many options. Just want him back 100% and not rushing him.

Because most mocks had him ranked between 5-7, we got him at 13.

Love this pick! He was a steal at 13!!! Ok, smallish, but watch his highlight reels. This kid is smart as hell and gets a ton of props from all the damn scouts! Passing sense second to only McJesus? Yes Please!!!! Plays solid defense....uhhh hell yea!!! Hockey sense through the roof???? WTH, can i have another please!! Ok we have a full cabinet of talent in the forward Dept..... time to address some defense and a young minder!!!

I do not think so..... he played decent for us last year and would have had a decent year if he played like that for 82 games for the Sabres. Not everyone on the team needs to be a skilled burner. We need players like this.

I like the signing, it is fair to both player and the team. But, it is also limiting the slots remaining for any changes. I am thinking a trade is the only way we will see any changes to the roster as it has to have players going out to bring anyone in.

Totally agree!! Make the trade. Stack the team for a good run. Let the team, environment and success reel him in!!! As for Goaloofson not being worth much (Mentioned in another post in this thread), he scores goals, he is a PP specialist that can hit the target. We may be tired of him, but he does produce overall. He has some worth in this league!!

I know we do have physicality, but we need that player that is feared by the other team. I do see some of that gritiness that is needed but it does seem more often then not the other team is the aggressor, not us. Playoff hockey it is a must to be the aggressor. Every year we see that with the cup winner. Love this team and see it getting better and stronger but that nasty piece is definitely needed.

I totally agree, but also see both sides. This teams weakness is and has been physicality. The Sabres seem to always get rid of the folks that give it to them. Do i want him back? No. There are others more capable then him that can be had for the right price. But, we DO need more physicality on this team in the worst way.

I am not in Buffalo, i did not say i was going to boo him... But i am more then old enough to know Buffalonians from when i did live there...LOL

As much as cannot stand Eichel, Vegas winning the cup was zero about him. They had so many other pieces they would have won with or without him based on the way things went. Congrats to Eichel, he will be forever booed in Buffalo. We move on. We have an up and coming team (Which i still believe is too soft) but freaking stacked with young talent! We just move on. I think this team is not too far from being able to compete (With the exception of the lack of playoff physicality that doomed the Amerks) for a SC in the nearer future.

Personally i could give a rats ass whether Eichel wins the cup or not. He is not going to be the MVP, and that team is definitely loaded! Eichel is not the lynchpin like he was supposed to be in Buffalo. Good for Vegas! Our team is my concern, not Vegas. Love the talent and what we got for Eichel. Now it is time to do something with all these rock star kids and be a club that is actually a competitor for the cup year after year.
