Vancouver are in an interesting place because his no trade kicks in this summer and then they are in real trouble trying to move him if this play continues. If he has another bad year then moving $11.6 when he can axe any deal will make it impossible to move him. Do they try to move him now and just take whatever return they can to move on from him or keep him and pray he returns to form after the no trade kicks in.

It’s almost like missing the playoffs for 14 straight years under one ownership forms a strong opinion from professional people in the league.😁

Not only did Cozens look like his old self but I thought Quinn looked like the best version of himself. -

So 8 years $80 million for Joker?😝 Nice win, nice run they are on right now. Greenway makes a big difference for them. That was the best Cozens has skated and engaged in a while. -
I agree and he is the much better option down the middle than Cozens. Go with Tage, Kulich, McLeod, Krebs as a centre spine and see how it goes.
-
I don’t think it will hold him back too much. You don’t put up a combined +43 in your age 20 and 21 years in the AHL if you are struggling with foot speed. It will be an initial adjustment but I think he makes it and plays quite well when he gets to the NHL.
-
Wow those are some eye popping numbers. The biggest problem is that he can’t play centre. He can’t drive the bus with the puck on his stick. Move him to wing immediately and see if it helps. If Tage is healthy I would put him back in the middle and move Cozens to the wing.

What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?

Point to me one great NHL coach that didn’t have good goaltending.

Gretzky never had the tools Lemieux did: size, reach, shot but he had the drive to be the best Mario didn’t. Lemieux coasted on his talent. He said it was Canada Cup 87 playing with Gretzky that really turned his career around to be dominant. If Mario didn’t have the chronic back issues and cancer I think he would have broken some of Gretzky’s records.

Reviewing Adams' Off-season acquisitions at the half way mark

With the way Mitts has played I think I would take McLeod. -
The problem is the Ducks have played Zegras as a LW and he is on his second down year. If the Sabres want to trade for him and move him to centre then they can but I wouldn’t be giving up top assets to try that experiment. If Marner hits UFA you can always throw a truckload of money at him. But how much is he worth? $13-14 million is too rich for my blood. Tkachuk is a pipe dream to me. I do like the player but IF Ottawa were to move him it wouldn’t be to a division rival.

The difference between early to mid 80s Gretzky and the rest of the league was one of the biggest in all sports. One year he would have won the scoring title on assists alone.

First of all I don’t want Pettersson. So in your opinion one guy changes getting knocked around or not. I guess I’ve missed the Sens being the toughest team in hockey for the past 5 years and all the success Brady has led them to. I wasn’t meaning to dump on you. I’m just tired of this idea on the board that Brady Tkachuk is the answer to all the problems of this franchise.
-
The “idea” of what Brady Tkachuk is to this board far exceeds what he actually is. If the Sabres ever got him this board would soon turn to “he doesn’t play big enough of the time” “he only picks his spots to act tough which is few and far between” He’s a very good player but he is reaching Superman levels to some.

$11.6 million for the next 7 years is too much money for a guy that is a mess right now. So much going on with him physically and mentally that it is too much of a gamble in my mind right now to give up top assets and hope that everything goes back to the way it was for last year.

Yep. I’ve said for a couple years now that Cozens doesn’t have the smarts to play centre. When he has the puck on his stick and time to make a decision he always makes the wrong one. He needs to be a RWer who blazes up and down the ice and rips shots on net. -
Leone has been a real find. He has installed a standard he expects everyone to play to. Even when they win he is on the team because he didn’t like the way they played, it wasn’t up to their standard. And the players talk about the standard all the time in interviews. And they are a very talented team. First OA in the AHL with a ton of kids playing vital roles. I think Leone should be the next Sabres coach, not Appert. Team looks much better under Leone’s leadership.

I was very impressed with Slavin. I think hockey is starting to shift away from every dman has to be a puck moving dman that can run a PP and more towards solid defensive dmen that can impact the defensive zone.

“Rochester, we love you. Devon Levi has a 16-4-1 record, three shutouts and a 2.03 goals-against-average in his last 21 games with the Amerks.” This is great to see. Let Levi cook in the AHL. The impressive thing with Leone is that the Amerks are first OA with a ton of young players developing at the same time. And Kulich has played 4 games for them all season.

I think the only option is to go to 6 teams with Russia and a World Team made up of players from Czech, Slovakia, Germany, Austria etc. You can’t have a tournament in mid season with anymore teams or you are pushing it.
