People will say Fox, Heiskanen, Hughes but to me Makar and Dahlin are the two dmen that will be the standard bearers for young dmen in the league. Dahlin is starting to control the whole game when he is on the ice. More points will come as better talent is added.

I’m adding Tyler Myers if Vancouver still want to move him for cap reasons. He has been very solid and his style would compliment Power well. At his size he could mentor Power on how to use his size at the NHL level, he can still skate and is a legit top 4. One thing to look at is that if you want Power to be a top 4 D man you can’t pair him with someone who is a third pairing guy. They won’t be able to handle the minutes. That is why Myers has leapfrogged some guys for me. He is getting $6 million for a couple more years, a salary the Sabres could actually welcome.

Face offs are about technique, timing and hand/eye coordination. It is a very overlooked talent in the game. If they trade Eakin I fear they might not win another faceoff all season😀

Remember the past couple years when all we heard was how Dahlin wasn’t even in the same league with the Quinn Hughes of the NHL. Wasn’t even close tonight, Hughes couldn’t hold Dahlin’s jockstrap all game. I watched the Sportsnet feed tonight. Crazy stat: Cody Eakin on all the different teams he has played for is now 22-1-1 against the Canucks. Anderson was great. I think Vinny forgot to turn his brain on tonight, a lot of bad decisions. Cozens was flying. I like Samuelsson and Bryson as a pair. Id they are serious about a partner for Power I think Myers would check all the boxes. That is if Vancouver decides to move him this summer. We need to have a Quinn draft night meltdown trip down memory lane. Many were on ledges as some of us tried to talk them down. We had all convinced ourselves that Rossi was the only solution even as Pronman was saying how high they were on Quinn. Hats off to the Sabres scouts on the Quinn pick. He is a development outlier in every sense. Think of where he is today and the injuries that have held him back. He might be even more dominant without those setbacks taking big chunks of development time from him.

Power wears 25 when he plays for Canada so that is my guess if they can get Grigorenko’s blessing.😜

I like JT Miller but this is right. He is going to want big money and term and guys that play hard like he does usually fall off a cliff in their early 30s as their bodies start to break down.

My biggest takeaway from last night’s game was that Power was not up the ice attacking. That would come from the coaching staff who probably want to play safer with it being one and done with the tournament. He might also be hurt or tired from the Olympics.

The reason TB justified the move is because Hagel is under contract for 3 years at a ridiculously low price. If they re signed Raddysh and/or Katchouk it would be for the same price Hagel is signed for.

Rochester is not a good defensive team. Their d corps is bad right now. Quinn is a treat to watch. I think he will develop into a superstar in Buffalo down the road.

LA is an interesting trade partner. Clarke, Faber, Grans gives them 3 young RHD for the future. I like Johnson but I wonder what he thinks looking at Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson and even Bryson on the left side. I think he can play the right side but he may think there are a lot of other teams out there where he would have an easier path to the NHL. If he is not all in on signing then he is a good piece to swap for a young RHD that can add to the backend going forward.

Are we talking about JJ next year or long term? Depending how things shake out he may spend some time in Roch next season but he will be a big part of the future for Buffalo. Kid is a stud and him and Quinn have great chemistry together.
