  1. Just the guys speculating, no inside scoop. Chychrun shoots left but Power plays both sides at Michigan a lot. Chychrun would check a lot of boxes: young, cost controlled, physical, great skater, tough. Don’t forget the Chychruns and Pegulas are or at least were neighbors in Florida and I’m sure Murray picking Nylander over Chychrun in the draft drew a real wedge between Murray and the Pegulas. We easily have the pieces to aquire him too. You can make a package of either Vegas or Florida’s 1st round pick, a prospect like Ryan Johnson, Rosen, Polpatov or Kisakov maybe a roster player like VO. Any combination of pieces like that is better then a team like Boston who are rumoured to be in on him could offer.
  2. https://hockeyprospect.com/hockeyprospect-com-2022-nhl-draft-top-32-ranking-march-14-2021/ Another site’s latest rankings. All over the place again.
  3. At the deadline No because I don’t think there would be the competition for VO and the word “gritty” kept being thrown around for Jarnkrok which GMs love for playoff runs. VO isn’t seen in that light. If it is an off-season trade then maybe something similar.
  4. I don’t know that he is bad as much as awkward. Teams these days think they can fix/improve skating if all the other pieces are there. He is the guy I think NHL GMs fall in love with and draft much higher then the draft sites will have him.
  5. I have a feeling the name that is going to shock come draft day is Connor Geekie. I would not be surprised if we hear his name between the 3rd and 5th picks. He is the exact type of player the draft nerds won’t be as high on but some NHL front offices will be. The 6’4 offensive centre will have a lot of debates going on in draft rooms and I won’t be surprised if he jumps up like McTavish did.
  6. LOL these draft rankings are all over the place from draft site to draft site. The most varied I can remember but Covid has played a huge role the past couple of years in the lack of viewings and the variance in rankings. It will be fascinating to see where the actual teams have the players rated come draft day.
  7. I didn’t think it was that bad but the math checks out.😁 I don’t know if he will win the Hobey but he is the most important player to his team regardless. The future is bright in net we just need a bridge until the kids are ready.
  8. Northeastern has some good players: McDonough, Gunnerwulfe Fontaine, Struble, Colangelo, Jack Hughes But they don’t have great depth and don’t play a real defensive system. Levi is full marks for his numbers and his record. He is more valuable to his team then the other two goalies Put Levi on Minnesota St. and he might have a sub 1.00 gaa. It is better for Buffalo that he is developing on a team that gives up more chances. Patrick Roy got shelled every night in juniors and he said it helped him develop quickly. Not saying Levi is getting shelled but he is getting more work then those top team’s goalies.
  9. 1)acquire a legit NHL goalie 2) aquire a top4 RHD 3) add Power, Quinn, UPL and possibly JJ to the roster 4) cut the dead weight: Eakin, Bjork, vet depth dmen , Toker, Hayden (they need what he brings just a better player bringing it) 5) decide on VO. If you can move him in a deal for a goalie or RHD perfect or move him for assets to use on a goalie or RHD. I think he will be paid to much for what he will bring to this team.
  10. Larsson is a good choice that I have thought of but forgot to add in my prior post. He checks a lot of boxes.
  11. You think they will be worse? They have Stone, Pacioretty , Lehner and Smith our long term right now. You would think they would be back with Jack for the whole year which would make a huge difference. You Are right though that they are older and have no cap flexibility. I just think they will be better with their pieces together.
  12. There will be options: Back the Brinks Truck up in free agency and hope for the best: Letang or Klingberg Letang would be the unicorn. Still a point a game player and would only want a 2 to 3 year deal but would be a massive overpay for him to even consider it. Klingberg is 30 and wants a lot of term which is scary. More realistic options: players that might get squeezed by cap situations: I put Dumba at the top of the list, Cernak and Gudas next then Myers from Vancouver Petry from Montreal 35 with 4 more years at big money. Don’t like that option. P.K Subban might get bought out in NJ but he brings baggage and seems to be declining. Scott Mayfield checks a lot of boxes. Big, physical stay at home RHD that is a great pker. Gudbransen is a UFA that is similar. Manson as well. Ellis just went to Philly, played 4 games and is out for the year. I don’t see them wanting to move him unless the cap is a real problem there and I don’t see that There are lots of options, more then are listed here so it will be interesting to see what Adams does.
  13. Yes they could. NHL changed the rules so a team can only move up 10 spots in the lottery. So they couldn’t get a top 2 spot but they could move up to 5th. As long as their pick is in the top 10 then they keep it and the Sabres get their 2023 pick. That will be a better draft but I expect Vegas to be better next season. Having Vegas not make the playoffs and not win a lottery spot is the key. Drafting 11-15th would be big this summer.
  14. Michigan and Minnesota games are usually on the Big10 Network.
  15. Man the Eichel trade sure changes if we are drafting 12-14th with that pick.
  16. Who plays in a playoff game first: this Sabres group, Risto or Jack?
  17. Girgs and Asplund might be odd guys out IF they want to bring in some different guys. I like both guys though so I wouldn’t mind them being back. I think they would probably like a high end Hayden. Someone who brings Hayden’s game but with better skills to go with it. I hope they invest in a quality top 4 RHD and an NHL starter with the cap space they need to spend.
  18. 1) A Real goalie. UPL and Anderson is not a plan for success. Pay big for Kuemper on a 2 year deal if he hits UFA. Get a legit good NHL goalie who can be a workhorse. UPL has proven nothing yet. This team is ready to compete for a final playoff spot next year with consistent competent goaltending and a couple additions. One being a d partner for Power and a forward that mixes some grit and scoring. Imagine if they added Kuemper, JT Miller and Dumba this off-season. Not probable even though they have the cap and assets to do it. Minny is going to have a ton of dead cap and Dumba’s name has popped up as a potential casualty. He has 1 more year left at $6 million. JT Miller’s name has been out there but I don’t know why the Canucks want to move him. Kuemper will be a UFA and Avs just reupped Francouz. They might view Kuemper as a cap casualty. Sabres can overpay for him where some teams won’t be able to.
  19. “Jason Botterill's father, Cal Botterill, was Ralph Krueger's teacher and hockey coach at St John's-Ravenscourt Prep School”
  20. Didn't realize Kuemper is a UFA after the season. Avs just resigned Francouz. He would be my number one target. Sabres could overpay for him on a 2 year deal. Would bring a ton of stability to the net. And the Sabres aren't that far of. The idea that a UFA wouldn't come here doesn't hold water to me. A few moves this offseason and they can be a competitive team next season.
  21. I think Joker is a young developing dman. Where he fits moving forward will be determined by who else Adams brings in on the right side. I mean there is a whole argument with charts and graphs. Do all the top players in the league have the top charts? Would you draft a player based solely on his chart if it was higher then a couple other players you like better? Charts can be useful but we can’t use it to solely determine someone’s play or value.
  22. Another top 15 pick via Vegas would be icing on the cake.
  23. Game was over before they dropped the puck!😁
  24. Terry was at the game talking to Cozens. Didn’t look like a checked out ready to sell owner to me.
  25. Can someone in the media please ask Dahlin what happened at the All Star game to make him flip the switch. He has been terrific the second half and engages physically regularly now. Great game. Love seeing the kids like Krebs, Cozens, Samuelsson continue to grow.
