Dahlin and Joker have been playing so well together lately I didn’t want to break it up but I would like to see Dahlin-Borgen to see what they have for next year.

I hope Borgen is ready to go soon. Dahlin Joker Bryson Risto Montour Borgen would be fun to watch if only for a game or two.

I think 5x5 is the sweet spot. Goalies usually hit there stride at 26-27, where maturity and mental consistency meet. He is a difference maker for Buffalo. The injuries are a concern but you have to have a good goalie to go anywhere in this league. Upgrade to a capable backup and this team will be much much better.

Risto for Turcotte is much more appealing.

They should hold him out until he accepts 5 passes in a row in practice without completely fumbling it. I have never seen a player unable to handle the puck as much as Hall has this season.

Was it ever mentioned why Granato was brought on the staff? Did he have any connection to Krueger? I know Smith and Krueger coached in Edmonton but I never heard any connection between Krueger and Granato. I get the sense that Granato isn’t too impressed with the way Ralph handled this team.

I don’t think anyone is expecting a run to the playoffs😀 It’s just nice to be able to tune in and watch your team play and see some positive things again. Having Ullmark back has made a big difference. Seeing the likes of Dahlin, Joker, Mitts, Tage, Bryson making positive progress is nice. I still have no idea what is up with Hall. He can’t receive a simple pass to save his life.

Regardless of outcome, it is just fun to watch games again. Firing Ralph has allowed Mitts, Tage, Dahlin, Joker, Bryson all to start taking positive steps each night out. If Mitts, Tage and Bryson can all finish strong and be counted on as regulars starting next season then that is big. And yeah, figure something out with Ullmark quickly please.

Enough with the US developmental picks. Can we grab some CHL guys. A balance would be nice.

Why is Gillis such a sexy name for people? Guy hasn’t been in the league since 2014 and didn’t have tons of success when he was in it. Anyone can throw out words like Analytics but words don’t mean much, look at Ralph.

What is Rutherford’s contract status with Pittsburgh? Can he even go anywhere until the offseason? Those can be tricky, especially with how Rutherford left. Guys like Karmanos, Hunter, Futa, whoever Adams is interviewing could come in soon but there may be people he wants to look at in the offseason when contracts run out. Maybe someone comes in soon and they add more in the offseason.

Can we please get a look at Fogarty for the rest of the year. He has looked like a positive in the bottom 6 so far. Dahlin looks like he is slowly climbing out of the hole. Growing pains will continue but atleast he looks like they have the train back on the tracks. keep Mitts at centre the rest of the season. Again, he is having hiccups here and there but there is real growth from him each game.

This is when they need to be talking to his agent, today. Is he interested in staying around? What does a contract going to look like? If the answer is no then you shop him now. He will return a pretty good piece and teams (Leafs) would be looking for him for a playoff run. I like him but if he is intent on walking out the door then get an asset for him. If this whole thing is going to be blown up then he isn’t going to stick around or really be necessary if it is rebuild 2.0.

Sabres have $1 million in cap space. Ghost costs $4.5 million. Who is not doing simple math here.

Rick Dudley, Mike Gillis, Eric Tulsky leaving Carolina to join the Sabres and after watching Justice League, Adams using a mother box to bring Sam Pollock back to life and help lead the front office.😁

But you have to remember that Rutherford was trying to win a Stanley Cup during Crosby and Malkin’s peak years. Moving draft picks/prospects for known talent that can help you win now is what they all do when they are a contender. Rebuilding is a totally different situation and strategy. Rutherford’s role here would be to shepherd the organization, making sure everything is running smoothly. Adams would still be GM. Rutherford brings a ton of respect around the league. People will look at the Buffalo organization and not say “complete tire fire” but rather that they have a lot of vet experience overseeing things and I might be open to joining them now. That holds a lot of weight with players, agents, scouts, front office people, coaches you want to try and attract.

Bringing in a Rutherford would also open the door to a larger amount of quality scouts willing to come. He probably knows most of the vet scouts around the league. Rutherford and Karamanos would bring respectability to the front office and would change the narrative and view of many from tire fire to those guys know there stuff, I am more willing to consider going there now. Having these guys to support Adams would be big.

I typed this on another site so I’ll put it here too. A general recap of the podcast: on his podcast he says Karmanos is coming but Rutherford is in negotiations to come in in a senior advisor role. The negotiations are about the Pegulas stepping aside and letting Rutherford and Adams run the hockey dept. Also said he heard apparently that there are more people joining the front office but he didn’t have names yet. He said Adams would still be GM and make the hockey decisions. I think Rutherford, Karmanos+ would be a home run. They desperately need vet. Experience and respectability around Adams. He mentioned that he heard it from one source then an NHL scout he speaks to said the rumour around the NHL is that it is a Rutherford-Karmanos package to Buffalo. He said Rutherford doesn’t want to commit to multiple years until he sees ho the relationship with the Pegulas goes. Probably got burned by Penguins ownership which led him to quitting there. stated that Rutherford has contacts with everyone from League officials to agents, to players to coaches and would be huge for helping with the coaching search. To summarize: Karmanos is a go, Rutherford is negotiating, put it at about 80%, and that other people will be joining as well.
